Lovely linens...a luxurious purchase.

I am particularly fond of linen tea towels.
We have quite a few that I keep ironed and neatly stacked in the drawer beside our farmhouse sink.
Lavender linen water is lovely spritzed on the towels before ironing...
I received a bottle as a gift on a birthday and I am hooked.

I had never thought of buying a linen towel for the bathroom.

A few days ago, I was chatting with my friend Suzanne,
she uses a large thick linen towel
instead of the fluffy white cotton towels
that we have been using for as long as I can remember...

my thoughts were the fluffier the towel
the better that they would dry
but I have decided now that linen is far superior!

I was informed by the shop keeper that the linen dries fast
 they never smell musty.

They soften gently over time...

I purchased a hand towel and a bath towel and have used it for a few days
it dries quite quickly
plus I love the loofah effect of the linen on my skin.

One cap full of this fragrant linen wash is all it takes to wash a load in our machine.

The towels are sold by a Canadian Company called Linen Way.

I purchased my towels locally at a shop called Madison and Muse.

I am not sure if my husband will be as keen to switch to linen...
I am very happy with my recent purchase.

Have you tried linen bath towels?
What do you think of them?

I have not tried linen bath towels. I find I do not like fluffy, luxurious towels in the bathroom - while they feel wonderful to the touch and look sumptuous as well; to me, they don't dry well. I do like a terry towel in the bathroom and there are specific ones I buy that work for us - they're inexpensive, especially when on sale, and do the job the way we like it (The Big One by Kohl's).

I prefer over-sized bath sheets but I certainly would try a linen one if they made them in that size. To dry my hair I use a man's cotton tee shirt. Your new towels are certainly lovely to look at and if the work well it sounds great to me!

Your new linen towels look lovely! I didn't try linen towels, only tea towels in the kitchen,I even didn't see bathroom linen towels, but for some time I ceased to add softener when washing my former fluffy bathroom towels-I air dry them and they are more firm after some time, with a bit of loofah effect I love, too

I've never tried a linen bath towel, but I suspect I would like it very much... I dislike "fluffy" towels, and for years have used a cotton waffle weave towel as my bath towel. I first discovered these back in 1989 on a trip to Italy, and never looked back. It was a strange sort of souvenir to bring home, and seemed terribly spendy at the time, but that towel is only now wearing out, almost thirty years later.

Towelling, as we know it, is a 19th century invention. Before that linen was used for the bath, so I wonder what made people change ? At our local market in southwest France I have noticed pareos for sale in the summer. Apparently, they are actually turkish hammam towels. I think I'll have to try them.

I also have not used a linen bath towel. The absorption and exfoliating features sound superior to the fluffy towel. I have tried linen sheets and I love the crispness against the skin. Your lavender wash is new to me also and because I like the scent I will seek this out as well. Thank you so much for the recommendations. Much appreciated. Susan

I've tried linen bath towels and prefer terry towels. Some fluffy towels seem to be made in such a way that they inhibit absorbency. Also, fabric softeners can lessen absorbency. I use white vinegar as a rinse in my front loading washer.
My daughter had linen bath towels and used them for awhile, but her husband wasn't keen on the idea, so they've gone back to cotton terry.
I do like linen tea towels; there's nothing like them for getting glassware sparkling.

I have never used a linen bath towel but do have a linen hand towel in my powder room that I just love. I am also quite fond of linen sheets in the summer and my growing collection of linen tea towels that I often use as napkins.

I really like my linen sheets so would like to try the linen bath towels. When I clicked the link, I could only see table cloths? (which, BTW, are gorgeous!)
If it is not too much trouble, could you check?
Thank you very much, Suz from Vancouver

You are right about the thick towels...lovely but fail to dry as well as they look!

I am really enjoying the linen towel...mine is as large as a bath sheet..so I can wrap it around after stepping out of the shower. Using a cotton tee to dry your hair sounds clever!

I never use softener but air drying towels will make them much rougher hence that loofah effect...saves energy too!

There are waffle weave linen towels too! Apparently linen lasts a lifetime...

I wonder why people gave up on linen and switched to terry towels?
I too have seen Turkish Hamman towels here and they are available in a wide array of colours and some have a fringe on the edge.

The linen wash and spray add a subtle lavender scent which I love...I also use lavender oil to help induce sleep at bedtime.

My husband will continue to use the terry towels and I am a recent convert to linen..
I also never use fabric softener, vinegar would be a good option. I have a large linen towel specifically for glass from The Irish linen shop on Government St that I use for our crystal...its a loose weave and you can use it to clean windows...works really well.

We have linen sheets and I like how they feel...using tea towels as napkins is a clever idea!

I removed the link as I realized that it was only the tablecloths...Linen Way is a wholesaler and I could not find a website that showed all their products. Madison and Muse is a local shop in Victoria and they have a good selection of products and their website is easy to use. Hope that helps and I am sorry for the inconvenience.

Your new linen tea towels are gorgeous! Love the “chambray” colour. I’ve not thought about having a linen bath or shower towel , they sound such a good idea ... I think I’ll treat myself ...:)
I have a Neals Yard Organic Lavender spray that I spritz on my pillow at night ... somehow it does seem to help me sleep more soundly.

I'm coo coo over linens. And, I have a collection which I absolutely adore. Yes, I have linen towels, brought home from a trip to Italy. They are beautiful, but they have fringe (I know!) so using them often ruins the fringe. Decisions decisions ! I love what you're saying though. And, I use Rose Water Spray on everything. I even spray it into the dryer before starting. xx's

Our household has converted to linen and we both love it! There is an old mill in Maine that still has the old looms used in yesteryear. Brahms Mount weaves blankets of cotton, cotton and lines and ones of 100 % linen. The linen blanket is pure heaven. They also weave bath towels, hand towels, etc. My husband didn't think that he would like the linen bath towels but he 'come over to the right side'. The towels dry in a flash and never smell musty!
I bought our linen bed sheets from Rough Linen in California. They are the best. Cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

I have recently bought a set of linen and cotton towels. I love them! They are ribbed and are slightly coarse but I think that provides superior drying. My husband, however, prefers his old, well-washed cotton towels!

I also have linens from Rough Linen - not inexpensive but lovely quality!

I love linen towels in the kitchen and have linen sheets, and a linen blanket and summer bedspread. I'd probably like the towels. You have inspired me to try them.
