Skin Dew a Hydration booster

Generally speaking I am happy with my Eminence skin care products
but in the past few weeks my skin has been feeling a wee bit dry.

I drink a LOT of Perrier so I don't think that I am dehydrated...and our summer has been long and hot so maybe that is a contributing factor.

It could also be aging, or hormones, or a combination of both...

While my friend Cheryl was stocking up on tea at Silk Road Tea Company...
I was browsing their skin care items.

When I spied their "cult favourite" Nourishing Dew popular for over 20 years...
a sample was offered to me.
I was impressed by the consistency and the key ingredients...
a little goes a long way.

Locally made which makes me feel even better about my purchase.

Taken from their website...
skincare benefits

Renowned for its radiant effect, NOURISHING DEW is a beloved cult favourite. When you use it regularly you’ll discover why. Happy clients of all ages & skin types have used this product for over 20 years, & their beautiful skin is a testament to the amazing benefits.

- regenerates, repairs, nourishes, re-balances & restores
- gives skin an instant, luminous glow
- optimizes skin to function at a peak level while moisturizing
- powerful antioxidant, nutrient rich oils & botanicals encourages a healthy, glowing complexion
- prevents & diminishes visible signs of aging (combine with JADE ANTI-AGING SERUM for best results)

mindfulness benefits

- designed to have a soothing, powerfully harmonizing, mood balancing effect

how to use

Apply NOURISHING DEW after washing face, before make-up (as a primer), before bed & anytime your skin needs hydration or a radiant, healthy, youthful glow.

I am applying a few drops before bedtime and it feels wonderful,
my skin feels softer after just a week and it smells absolutely wonderful!

Now I am tempted to buy the Jade Serum for an extra punch of potency...
it was sold out as it is so popular they have trouble keeping it in stock!

I booked in for a facial in the Silk Road Spa and will report back on my experience in an upcoming post.

Hope that you are having a great week.

This is a sponsored Post for Silk Road, including a link to website, and it should be marked by the author as such!
Please don't insult your readers, there is clearly a difference between liking a product and advertising it. A shame, this used to be a good blog, if you are going to join the bloggers who do sponsored posts, at least be transparent about it

Anon, I have been reading Leslie's blog for a very long time and I really don't think that this is a sponsored post - at the most she could have perhaps said something to this effect, but it proably never crossed her mind. Because it is not sponsored.

Leslie - at first I wondered about sodium in sparkling water, but apparently Perrier has some of the lowest levels, so you're ok there!

If it is not a sponsored post, then the link should be removed
I agree with anon, it does look very much like a sponsored post.

Looks like an excellent product and thank you for sharing. Considering how much of your blog is about skin care and finding products that work for your skin--its sensitivity and condition--I think it makes sense that you would share it! Further I think it's really nice that you would bring a local business to a broader audience. That's a wonderfully gracious thing to do for a business owner in your community. I tend to include links to products in almost every one of my posts and they were only affiliate links in one of them. Otherwise they have been just because I figured it made sense to include a source if the post piqued a reader's curiosity.

Whoa! ANONYMOUS seems to be quite annoyed. I usually pay little attention to that prolific poster, ANONYMOUS. He/She seems to be everywhere, doling out the negatives quite liberally.

I am sure Leslie is quite taken with this product, and I appreciate the shared information. If this were a sponsored post, Leslie would be open about it.

Back to the topic. Leslie, I noticed yesterday, under the harsh lighting of my hairdresser's coloring room, that my makeup looked dry and powdery. It wasn't meant to. My skin is combination, so I was a bit flummoxed. The foundation is new and may not be right for me. I wonder if mixing in a bit of moisturizer would do the trick. Or perhaps a touch of a product like Nourishing Dew would help. Do you think?

My skin has gotten very dry all of a sudden - maybe end of summer skin? I've been using some new products and serums too to add extra moisture. This looks like a great one. A facial is a good idea too!

It's been a while since I was at Silk Road and I didn't know about this product. I had a massage there- ages ago- and the atmosphere was lovely. Thanks for the tip about the Nourishing Dew.

I don't know the Silk Road products, but this does look interesting and I would be keen to try it. When younger my skin needed no moisturising whatever, but the older one gets - now I am finding my skin dryer with each passing year. Love your blog, and ignore the critics <3

Oh I wish it was a sponsored post! You flatter me!
My humble little blog is not ranked high enough for any company to even consider the possibility!
I would never knowingly insult my audience Anonymous, I am far too polite for that...we Canadians are very much aware of manners.
Hope that you have a fabulous week!

Patricia...the opinions here are all my own and there is no sponsorship involved.
I was not aware of the sodium levels in Perrier...thank you for pointing them out.

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

The link is there so that readers can see the ingredients on the company website...I am not affiliated in any way to the company...the opinions are all mine.

Thank you Stephen...I appreciate your comments. Having suffered bouts of rosacea and receiving emails from readers who also have this condition I like to share what is working for my skin as I know there are others out there who may also benefit from my experience.
I am sharing the link to the website for the ease and convenience of readers who may be interested in reading more about the product.

Anonymous does seem quite annoyed...I wonder who is behind the anonymity curtain and why they are too shy to come out from behind the veil...
I am no expert on make up but often when my skin is dry and dehydrated my make up looks too cake-y. I would try upping your water intake and perhaps add an exfoliant to your weekly skin care regime...or have a facial. This product may be a good one for you to try...it is just one option as there are oodles of products out there. Good luck!

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

So perhaps my dry skin is a result of the long hot summer...glad to hear your new products are working for your skin.
I am looking froward to the facial!

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

Let me know if you try it and like it...

Patricia...skin care regimes are so important as we get older.
I remember that my grandmother who lived until 97, used Noxema on her face every morning and at night. Her skin was lovely and she had very few wrinkles.
(Anon, I am not advertising Noxema!)

Stop reading the blog if you are "insulted". I enjoy reading your blog as often as I can. I appreciate that you take the time to blog and I enjoy that you cover a variety of subjects - house/garden/style/skin/etc. Please ignore the negative comments - some people will look for something to complain about where nothing exists.

Kristien62 said...

Thank you, Leslie. All good ideas and the facial sounds like a good place to start.

This is so obviously not a sponsored post but just a very nice way to tell us about a product you like. As bloggers I think we have every right to be able to do this. Like a lot of your readers I appreciate your recommendations. Thank you.

Leslie, good grief. If any Anonymous person thinks the interests of the skincare industry will change on one opinion, they have bigger issues. I like to read the opinions of bloggers or friends. I've never met you but respect many of your other bits of advice, so keep on giving your opinions. Thanks.

Leslie, thank you for sharing your experiences of various products with your readers. I find your posts to be balanced and well researched. This is your blog, after all, you can of course write about anything that you wish and you know that there are many, many people who enjoy your insights, experiences and musings. I find these sorts of self righteous and pompous 'anonymous' comments to be highly suspicious and quite insulting to readers. But back to much more pleasant things. I've only recently heard of the Eminence range. The ingredients and production methods seem to be sustainable and free of toxins. I will try and find them here in Canberra! I hope you have a lovely weekend Leslie.

We cannot choose our blog audience but generally speaking the readers who comment and email me are very polite and positive...and as far as freedom of speech I support that right for all even if they do not agree with my opinions.

My opinions are my own and I am not trying to sway anyone at any time...I have no delusions that I have power over anyone or their purchasing choices!

I am looking forward to it...
A little pampering goes a long way!

Products that are eco friendly and free of nasty additives are what I look for when I choose skin care products. If you cannot find Eminence in Canberra there must be comparable lines of healthy organics in your area.
Good luck!

Moisture is so essential to a healthy appearance. I have been in Ireland and now in Shetland
and it seems that humidity and a lack of pollution play an important role in fresh skin. Everyone has the right to suggest products and everyone has the right to choose. Personally, I like to know about the benefits of different products,

If Anonymous read your blog more often, he/she would know that you like to try different products and share your opinions with your readers. It's clear to me that you aren't compensated.
Keep blogging...I enjoy reading it!

Don't know what is worse, sponsored posts that are undeclared, or silly people who advertise and promote products for nothing in return
Any post with a link directly to a company website is a sponsored post, period. If it is not sponsored, as you say it isn't, then remove it, which of course you won't, because it is a sponsored post. Since you refuse to remove the link, it is fair to assume it is sponsored
I love how your geriatric readership jumps to your defence, though!

Anonymous is rude, Leslie, there's no other way of putting it. Anyone is entitled to an opinion, but there are ways of phrasing opinions so as not to be rude. I find your product reviews are well-researched and balanced. Would Anonymous feel the same way about music you recommended, or books you have read and recommended? Or if you enjoyed some particular brand of tea or coffee to others, or preferred one museum or art gallery to another? Just carry on your lovely blog as you are doing, Leslie. You're doing a great job, love your blog and in particular you great photos.

The pictures from Ireland that you have been posting on your blog are lovely...the countryside looks so lush and green.
I agree with you that humidity and fresh, clean, unpolluted air are factors that affect our complexions.
Enjoy your Shetland holiday...

My blog posts are personal snippets from my simple everyday life...
I write a variety of topics...whatever motivates or moves me.
Obviously anonymous is very unhappy, which is really quite sad as there are so many wonderful things in life in which to take joy.

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

Margaret,
Thank you for your kind words...I appreciate the points that you make.
Anonymous is very passionate about their opinion and does come across as rude.
Perhaps he or she is depressed, or lonely, or craves attention...
we can only guess what kind of person is hiding behind those comments.
Putting it into perspective, we do not need to dwell on the words of the writer as they refuse to put their identity out in the open and prefer to hide behind their comments in the cloak of anonymity.

Hi Leslie,
I'm a long time reader and I think first time commentor. I so enjoy your blog and gorgeous photos of your humble bungalow and lovely garden, your walks and travels. I also admire your beautiful skin. I appreciated that you left a link and I went on over to look at the company's site. It never crossed my mind to even wonder (or care) if it was a sponsored post. :-) I'm so sorry that Ms. Annon had to rain on such a lovely post.

Blessings,
Caroline
