Thank you so much!

I am overwhelmed by the comments and emails that I have recently received since publishing my last post on blogging.

The information that I discovered to switch to a new platform and bring all my posts with me was quite beyond my tech ability and to hire an expert to help with the migration was more expensive than I ever imagined.

This wee blog is and has been a fun outlet and a hobby not a business or a job.

So I am going to stay with Blogger as it continues to be free...
there are limitations and tech issues but I suppose I will have to live with them if I want to have a blog and an audience without cost.

Researching style with this fun book by two authors from Refinery 29...
I am heading to the shops to scout out some edgy fashion options.

At 68, I am no spring chicken but I am not giving up on having fun with fashion.

Recalling former conversations with girlfriends over coffee...
the crux of the dialogue revolved around what we might be wearing when we got OLD.
Well we are OLD now and I remember a particular friend saying
"Shoot me if I ever wear pull on pants and old lady tops."

Pull on pants are very comfy...
Yoga pants and some dressy pants with smooth waistbands.

I have returned to regular denim jeans
the spandex stretchy fabric loses shape "stretches and pouches out" at the tummy.
Makes me look bigger than I am...
not a good look and I feel bad about my tummy.

No one wants to feel bad about their body...
it supports and carries us around.
The only one we have,
so we better appreciate, honour, and accept it.
Making peace with the reality of our forms at an advanced age takes time.
At least it has taken me awhile...
looking at younger fitter women on social media sets up unrealistic expectations.

Dress the body that you have been given...
fitness is a great goal at our age
Walking Yoga, swimming, aqua fit classes
and a healthy eating regime should be a focus.

Fad diets and exhausting exercise can be hard on our systems and our joints.
Moderation is my preferred method.

Have you heard of MNG?
Love "MOM" jeans...
but hey did you notice they are "NEW MOM" jeans :-))
Gosh the last time I was a new mom was in 1981.
I love the fit of these jeans...size 12

These are ankle length which I love because I am 5'1
no hemming required.
I bought them at our local Bay store for $70

Now I am thinking I need a fun pair of sneakers...
Converse perhaps?
Something comfy and a wee bit edgy...

Women in Paris are wearing sneakers.

That's it for now...
I thought I would just check in and say thank you for your lovely messages.
Stay tuned for more posts...

I am so glad you have decided to continue your blog. I enjoy all the topics you cover whether it be recipes, flowers in your yard, what you are reading or what you see on your walks. Your pictures bring back so many memories of beautiful Victoria. Thank you for all the work you do to share your blog with all of us. Hope you find something fun or edgy on your search. Enjoy! I am so glad you've received so many wonderful comments and emails after your last post - so well deserved. And very pleased that you are going to continue to post. What a bonus for your readers! You are much appreciated. Thank you for all you share.

I remember the first time I wore elastic waist pants to work, I groaned to my boss "Oh no! I've turned into my mother" I was in my early 60's. I love your blog especially your photos, I live in Northern NSW Australia in a sub tropical climate so different from your lovely temperate climate with 4 definate seasons and all the beautiful flowers that go with that

Hooray! Like you, I can't be bothered to migrate my blog (gads, so many pictures) to a hosted platform, and unless our Blogger Overlords decide to pull the plug on it, I'm in for the long haul.

I applaud you for seeking out some edgier looks, Leslie! Even though I don't buy retail, I like to look to see what inspires me and then I either shop my closet or look for something similar second-hand. I love the idea of Converse - Baggins downtown has some amazing styles, and of course, you know I'm a huge fan of Fluevog. Go into the store (it's right near Baggins) and tell them Sheila sent you (ha ha, they know me). Just try some on and have fun (then stalk them for the sales!). A funky pair of shoes can really make a huge difference, especially if you're a basics-with-a-scarf-and-red-lipstick gal.

So glad you've decided to keep going with your blog. Something always captures my interest in your posts - be it a well-composed photo, a thrift shop treasure, a close up of one of your gorgeous cats, a glimpse into your garden, or a peek into your closet.

I am so glad to read you are going to stay !!
We are the same age and its just wonderful reading what you are buying or thinking to buy in clothing, jewellery and makeup.
I read you more than I post a comment but I am going to make sure I leave a message every time I visit.
You are so right about being grateful for our bodies and not to worry that they are not like they used to be!!!

Hi Leslie … I was travelling and missed your last post until this morning. I’m so so glad to read that you’re continuing your blog. I enjoy reading about your life so much and I’m still hoping that we’ll meet one day for a walk along the beach and coffee or lunch 😊
I know we chat on IG but there’s something very special about your blog and how genuine it is … it was one of the first that I read, many years ago and I still look forward to your posts.

ps I’m hoping this will publish 🤞

I am glad you are staying around on Blogger. I too prefer a free blog option, and have had to ride the changes from blogger. Blogging is a pleasure and I do not want it to become a job or a pressure. Fun with fashion, but with your elegant look, is what I prefer. Also being short, I have found the newer pants in our shops are much longer these days. There are far more tall women around than there were when we were younger, and it appears I will need to seek out special 'short' pants. Exercise is key, absolutely!

I too missed your previous post and am happy to hear you are not leaving us. I don't "do" social media and don't usually comment on blogs but I do look forward to reading each one of yours. I found you shortly after visiting Victoria for the first time and your photos bring back fond memories of that trip. Your stories inspire me to stop and literally smell the roses! I'm retired, but seem to feel I should always be busy so I use your blog to help me re-set and just enjoy having the freedom each day to choose what to do (or not). Thank you for deciding to continue!

So pleased you are staying with blogging. I would have missed you too. Your clothing ideas are inspiring. No need to look frumpy even if we are older. Op shops (thrift store) are fun to find some interesting accessories. I have been to Vancouver and the island so can imagine what you refer to. Kind regards from Sydney Australia.

So pleased you are able to continue your blog...I always read it.

I love the quality of your photos and enjoy reading about your clothes. In another world I could be you, same size and height and love the same things! I have sometimes scoured the internet for the Karl Lagerfeld tee you wear (can't find any black ones though) and, as a one-time knitting pattern designer, I am fascinated by the quality of your knitting.

Alas I am unlikely to ever visit your part of the world but I do so enjoy reading your blog, reading about your life and seeing where you live. You give such pleasure to do many.

Thank you

MNG is Mango - a Spanish company. Comparable to Zara I would suggest. They have had some very nice stuff and decent quality, the past couple of seasons. I have a wool (70%!] coat from them that is beautifully made and trendy.

Glad you de died to continue the blog.

Hello, Lesley. I am so glad you are continuing your blog. Although I am sure it takes considerable effort to create each one, what a wonderful, thoughtful pictorial history you are creating of your life, and which you so generously share with others. Thank you. 💙
