Hoping for a Sun day...while waiting, I shop.

Greetings...
our weather has been really rather beastly.

This weather is for the birds!!!

Rain with high winds and all manner of things blowing away.
We are hanging onto our hats in hope
as we read the forecast for the start to the week
which is promising (teasing) us warmer temperatures and some sunshine.

If you are reading this post you know that I have decided to continue to blog
using the free Blogger platform.
My research revealed that it would cost me about $2,000 to transfer all my posts
and migrate to a new host. The host would then be charging me an annual fee for the posts and GB that I would be using to keep my blog live.
I am retired and this is a hobby so that was not going to be reasonable.

Thank you again for following.
It is great to read all your comments, I really appreciate them.

I have been forced indoors during the inclement weather
so I have had a few shopping trips to
 the local shops and malls.

I found a comfy and fun pair of Converse sneakers.

I chose the blue ones but they were also available in red
which was SO tempting...I really didn't NEED two pairs.

I think they will look great with all my denim pieces and my white jeans.
I have a faded blue linen skirt that I purchased last year which might be fun to
wear white ankle socks and these together.

Oh and I also found a new backpack...
to replace the thrifted one that I repaired .

Hands free for hiking, walking, shopping and beach combing.

Soft leather, attractive details and wonderfully made.

Big enough to pop in a book and my usual wallet, keys, sunglasses and lipstick.
It looks smart too...
I am pleasantly surprised by the quality for the price.

I've been having an espresso on these cold windy afternoons.
I made coffee this way when I was in Roccatederighi, Italy

The Lavazza brand Crema coffee is smooth and needs no cream.

The new to me espresso /demitasse cups are vintage by Susie Cooper.
Made in England.
I found them at Kay's Korner in the Cook Street Village.
I love Karin's shop...
I regularly walk in our Fairfield neighbourhood and will pop in on my route.
If you haven't been to Kay's Korner yet...you have a treat in store.

Spook Street is a book in the popular British spy series by Mick Herron...
my husband has read the entire series and purchased all the books so I am reading them now.
Interestingly, he has picked up the Louise Penny series which I love and is reading the first one now!

I have a few more things to share with you but will leave those for the next post.

For those of you who were enquiring about my back...

I had some X Rays of my back and hands,
both have been very surprisingly stiff, uncomfortable and very painful.
The doctor also ordered blood work.
I haven't seen my doctor since before Covid.
He is very busy and it takes a long time to get an appointment to see him.

He's thinking it may be arthritis
I won't know more until my follow up appointment in early May.

In the meantime I am taking Tylenol at night which is helping me sleep a bit better.
We'll see...

Hope that your week has some sunshine and fun packed into it.

I hope sunnier days are headed your way, as well as here! Where I live, in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, our cold weather hangs on for far too long and I am sick of it! I am really anxious to get out in my gardens and dig and prune but it is just too cold. I'm retired also, and do have a lot of hobbies to keep me busy, including, yoga, strength training, walking, caring for my many houseplants, reading, cooking and baking, and recently reintroduced myself to a hobby from long long ago, macrame! My husband, also retired, and I love to travel with our rv, so there's that to look forward as the weather warms. We're planning a trip to Mackinac Island in June for the lilac festival! I am glad you have decided to continue to blog, thank you for sharing your photos and thoughts!

I'm with you on the weather lately: beastly and for the birds! It's just rather a misery. A good excuse to curl up with a good book, though! Hope you get some relief soon for your hands and back.

The weather has kept me indoors, too, but this morning I was out walking before breakfast in the glorious sunshine! I'm looking forward to the temperature warming up this week.
The backpack looks like a great find!
Have a good week, and I hope your hands and back soon feel better. Being in pain is fatiguing.

So sorry that your back and hands have been painful. I do hope the tests and scans will allow treatment to be recommended that will improve things for you. Your new sneakers and backpack look very stylish and fun. I bought some new sneakers about 2 weeks ago and they are so comfortable that they’ve been worn most days since they were purchased. It’s autumn here - and quite a wet one too - and I’m looking for a new coat or jacket as my old black coat had become very worn indeed. I purchased a lovely pink coat in a plaid pattern last winter, which I’m very pleased with, but it’s full-length and quite heavy so I’d like something three-quarter length in a more basic colour for days when it’s not too cold and a lighter outside layer is called for.

Always a good day to find a new post from you. I’m in the North Carolina mountains, so latitude vs altitude means our weather is ver similar to Seattle, and our spring is our glory. Hope you have nice weather soon too.

We are going into Autumn so our weather is up and down but today will be 26c - lovely.
I hope your back is better.

I've stopped in at Kay's since I lived at Linden & Oscar back in the 90s - i always pop in if I'm in the neighbourhood.

Love your Converse, Leslie! They go with everything! I also love that backpack - glad you found a good leather one.

I know, I've also looked into hosting my own blog, but it's so much hassle and cost for something I make ZERO money from and yet spend SO much time on!

I hope you're enjoying the sun today - although it's not warm yet!

I do hope that you get some relief from the pain. In addition to its miseries, it also tends to wear at life in general. So glad you will continue blogging.

Judith ~ I cannot believe how much better the camera is on the new IPhone...hope you will enjoy it too!

Sharon ~ I try not to complain too much about my recent health issues...many people endure much worse. I look around at all the beauty in the gardens and our fair city and am energized and feel hopeful.

Sheila ~ Our weather has improved a great deal since last week! The sunshine is so lovely...great for your walks with your dear mom!

Noelle ~ The weather is sunny today...much warmer too! I feel like it is almost time to swap out the winter clothes for the spring and summer ones!

Lady Jicky ~ The autumn colours must be so pretty...it is a time to get cozy waiting for winter.

Maria ~I love the idea of a pink plaid coat for fall and winter! Comfy shoes for walking are the BEST...it is interesting that sneakers have become a staple in most women's wardrobes. Paris fashion is showing them on the runways!

Lorrie ~ Oh the weather has really perked up here! The gardens are bursting forth with flowers and the temperatures are much warmer. How is your kitchen renovation coming along?

Mary ~ Oh we seem to have a lot in common! I hope that your weather is improving...a lilac festival sounds like fun! I love the fragrance of lilacs...so intoxicating!! Have fun rv-ing :-))

Jeannine ~ I hope your weather has perked up a bit...ours seems to have changed but it may not last!
I read a good book last week...The White Hare by Jane Johnson...you may enjoy it.
