Italian Linen Dress
Loose and cool
an easy way to dress for summer.
Added interest...near the hem.
Ready for a wee gathering at a friend's home.
Appetizers and bubbly!
Amanda Blu flip flops
Keeping hydrated in the intense heat wave that we had is important.
Lots of fluids and ice...
I made several jugs of homemade lemonade which we sipped throughout the days.
It is slightly cooler now and for that I am grateful.
So are the parched roses and plants in The Humble Bungalow Garden.
Julia Child Rose
David Austin Variety
We purchased this buttery yellow beauty this Spring and planted it it a pot.
Love the bold shade and the fragrance is delightful.
I had a reader send me an email that she could no longer comment on my blog and I am not at all sure why that is happening?

Look at you in your bright yellow! I love it! I'm so glad the extra-high temps are over - our condo was 42 degrees on Monday.
A couple of things for commenters who might be having issues:
- Clear out your browsing history. Cookies might be interfering with the ability to comment.
- Check that your device isn't blocking 3rd party cookies (blogger uses cookies to keep users logged in while they are commenting). If it is, you can select this as a "safe" site. If your reader has a new phone, they may want to check the settings for browsing.
- If you have a Google profile, ensure that you are logged into it (as Google/blogger are the same company) by ensuring that you selected the Google profile from the "Comment as" drop-down list.
- If all of the above seems fine, the number one IT fix is "turn it off and then turn it on again." :-)
For you:
- Unless you get a ton of spam, you might want to remove moderation. When I log into blogger, I go to the Comments in my dashboard and can delete any spam immediately. It's very easy to spot (I get ad spam sometimes), and even if spam comments are published for a day or so, they won't do any harm.
- Your ads might be adding cookies to readers' devices. Do you get enough revenue to warrant them?
I don't have any issues with commenting on your blog, FYI.
Loving all the yellow, so fresh and pretty. Looking at potting some roses soon so thank you for the inspiration 😊
I really like that sunny yellow. I've been wearing very loose linen and gauze cotton dresses. They are very cool. That cooler looks refreshing. I've been making iced tea and infused waters. I've also just found Steigl Grapefruit beer. It's only 2.5% and I find it refreshing. I'm getting Bloglovin notification when you post.
Yellow is such a happy color. And I appreciate the positive vibes I receive reading your blog. Merci!
Love love love the yellow! South of Bellingham here in Skagit Valley it’s finally not so hot! The humidity has made it awfully difficult to cool off. Happy to hear it’s better up north ❣️
I love that yellow dress and I love linen. It's pretty much all I wear in summer. I 'm glad you're keeping cool!
Love the detail on your linen dress! I,too, have Julia Child roses and have found them most prolific and care free. xo
I'm so glad I subscribed to your blog and I can see all the beautiful flowers you share with us readers. Julia Child rose is a beauty. Stay cool.
What a gorgeous linen dress! How perfect for summer.
We've had our own heatwave here, but nothing like the one you are experiencing. Glad to hear things are cooling down.
Love your blog -- always something beautiful and interesting.
You look like a ray of sunshine in your pretty linen dress. I am so very glad the heat wave is over. Happy Canada Day!
Sheila,
Thank you so much for your advice! I appreciate it so much!
Happy rose shopping and planting!
Linen is a fabulous fibre for the summertime and that recent heat wave was unbelievable! I have discovered Partake a dealcoholized beer that is only 15 calories and is so refreshing. They make 5 varieties and all taste like craft beers!
Thank you Linda and I am happy to see that you were able to leave a comment.
We went for our walk this morning and it felt a lot cooler...that wave of intense heat was like living in an oven for a few days. We broke several records for the hottest day(s) EVER!!
Lemonade and Linen are two key players in the heat!
It is only 17 degrees today as compared with th 37.5 we had last week...it is much better for working in the garden and walking.
Julia Child is a stunning yellow rose. We also grow Graham Thomas and that is another bold shade of yellow...we have it climbing a trellis at the back area of the garden and it lights up that section when it is in bloom.
Much cooler today...our walk was very pleasant. The roses wilted a lot in that intense heat.
Thank you Beth...seems like you are able to comment which is great.
I do try to focus on beautiful things here on the blog.
Thank you Lorrie,
We had a lovely walk down along Dallas Road and back...not too many people were out yet. Plan to BBQ some lamb chops and harvest swiss chard and beets to cook with them.
Enjoy Canada Day.
I''m able to comment on your blog and I still get notified when you write a new post.
Thank you Linda, perhaps this was a one time glitch? I am glad that you are able to leave a comment. Today is the last day that feedburner will send out automatic emails of the new posts. Bloglovin will continue to do that service so you may want to sign up there so that you don't miss any posts.
What a stunning yellow dress, and it really suits you. I hear it has been extremely hot over there, and linen is just the ticket. One of my favourite linen dresses is a similar bright yellow - and I have a weakness for yellow roses too. Yours is a beauty! Happy Canada Day.
What a fabulous dress, and you wear it so well! And that’s a beautiful Rose—you’re such a good gardener!
So pretty!
