OOTD...spa time and lunch out.

Welcome to The Humble Bungalow Blog.

Blogger has introduced a new interface which is proving to be quite quirky.
If it continues to be problematic I will give up and post only on Instagram.
Vintage Coach bag and Maui Jim prescription sunglasses
Summertime Basics
Chaus of New York Polka dot top.

I found this at Marshalls and it is a comfy loose longer length top that I can wear with my casual black Yoga pants or dressy Eileen Fisher skinny black pants.

I have done very little shopping since Covid arrived.
When I do shop I wear a mask.

Except for a new pair of black Yoga pants and a blue pair of linen trousers by Ellen Tracey both sourced at Marshalls. I have only ventured into Toys R Us to buy birthday gifts for the grandchildren.

Our cases of Covid are up a bit more here in BC and both my husband and I remain very vigilant in our efforts to stay safe. Our ages put us at a higher risk and I have had pneumonia 3 times, the last bout kept me bedridden for 6 weeks so I daren't take any chances.

                       Pepper, our elder cat,
loves to find a ray of sunshine and have a nap.

My sister and I went to the Spa last week at the Oak Bay Beach Hotel.
We were celebrating her 60th birthday.

It was a beautiful sunny day and we really enjoyed soaking in the mineral pool.

We enjoyed lunch at Faro the new pizza spot in the hotel.

Sized for sharing

I met a long time reader Rosemarie for lunch last week.
She and I exchanged gifts.
Rosemarie is a vivacious and kind woman who sends me cheery emails.

She sends me sunflower seeds at the anniversary of my Mom's passing...
she has also sent me tea, earrings, and more recently some polka dot socks!

My current book stack...

Just finished The Guest List by Lisa Foley, an Agatha Christie type of mystery.
I never guessed who the murderer was, with so many twists and turns.

Well that about wraps up this post...

I hope Blogger can give us a tutorial on the new format.
It is difficult trying to figure it out withour much help!

Stay Safe
and
Please
Wear your Mask

I sure hope you can figure out the blogging issues, Leslie. Your readers will be very sad if you are no longer posting! I love your polka dot top - it look great on you. You picked the perfect place to take the picture due to your floor being black and white as well! That pizza looks fabulous.

I hope Blogger works out the kinks and makes it more user friendly - I would miss your beautiful blog so much ! Your pictures and words are always so calming. Stay safe and strong and know we are reading your words and enjoying them so much ....

I understand that you can revert to the old blogger, have you tried that?

I am happy for you that you had a lovely day at the spa. It is good to get out but always aware of Covid too as I am in the at risk age group and also have 2 auto immune diseases but life has to go on even though we enjoy things differently now. Stay safe and well.

I'm finding new blogger a pain. The Covid-19 numbers are getting dangerous again. My mum was in the hospital for 3 days last week and I'm the main caregiver. Since she's 89 and has heart issues, we need to be careful. I came over to Victoria with my daughter for the weekend. She's working here Monday so we thought an escape was in order. I just finished reading Lady Clementine by Marie Benedict. It's about Lady Churchill. It was an interesting read. Yesterday, I bought Paris Never Leaves You by Ellen Feldman. Victoria is such a great walking city. Yesterday, we walked from the Inner Harbour to Beacon Hill along Dallas Road and back to downtown. I'll probably come back in October without my daughter. Maybe we can meet. I walked to Cook Street Village on Saturday and I really liked the shops there. Another blogger was reading Lisa Foley. I will have to buy one of her books in September. Enjoy the sunshine.

I always look forward to your posts. Love your pictures and recipes. A new trip on my agenda will be to go to the lovely hotel you mention in this post. Thanks for the uplifting blog!

The new blogger with override the old format very soon. I will try to work out the kinks but it’s very different and there seems to be no support or tutorials at all! I will be sad to close my blog down too if it is too troublesome...I will try to overcome the issues! Thank you Jeannine! 💐

I hope blogger fixes some issues too!
Are you experiencing any glitches on the new format? Please share tips if you have figured out how to navigate the new system!

I had to revert to the Legacy for this post as I could not post pictures AND photos together on the new blogger. The message says that the Legacy blogger will stop very soon!!!

We are definitely avoiding possible risks. Keeping our bubble super small and not going out much at all and if we do see others it’s all done outside...when the cold weather and rain set in we will probably be isolated again to stay safe.

I sent feedback to them but who knows? I would miss blogging too but if it’s too frustrating and time consuming to compose a post with pictures I will post on Instagram. You would think there would be a tutorial when a new system is implemented!!! But no! Nothing! So I will try a few more times with the new system...hope I can figure it out as they said the old blogger will be totally discontinued very soon!

Glad to hear that you were able to getaway! I would love to meet up with you when you return. The Cook Street Village has some nice shops. Did you go into Mercedes Lane? I love their lovely Italian linen garments! Where did you stay? Hope your mom feels better soon. Take care and stay well.

Marilyn I hope that you enjoy the OBBH it’s very beautiful and the sea views are fabulous. The spa is a real treat and the mineral pools are warm...great area to walk too! Wonderful sushi at the nearby Oak Bay Marina! If you do pop by message me if you’d like to meet up for coffee!
Take care

I could have bought many items at Mercedes Lane. Since Covid is probably with us for a while, I probably don't need any more clothes. There was a decorating store that was closed but I really liked a quilt in the window. Victoria has great little shops.

I didn't like the new blogger at first but now I find it's ok. I wonder if it reacts differently depending on operating systems or browsers. I like your top.

Lorrie said...

I'm sorry you're having difficulties with the new Blogger. I've not found it to be a problem (she says with her fingers crossed). A tutorial would be a great idea!
Your new top is very pretty and flattering. Spending time at the spa would be a wonderful and relaxing way to celebrate your sister's birthday.

Maybe I am doing something wrong but uploading photos and then trying to add text is not working for me!

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

I added images and then tried adding text and got a blue colour font that was underlinded? Very odd...I sent a help message and so far no news. Maybe I can find some help online if I google it?

Robyn here - Oh I so hope you can fix the glitches. I don't follow Instagram and really enjoy reading your posts. They are so colorful, positive and informative.

Please persevere! I really enjoy your blog; you are calm and cheerful.

A suggestion for a book you may enjoy; The School of Essential Ingredients by Erica Bauermiester. We just read it for our book group and it was a lighthearted summer read. Normally we don't do book group during the summer, but no one was leaving town, so we went ahead, albeit with a much lighter pick than usual.

Hi Leslie, Please try really hard to learn the new software! I would really miss your blog. Perhaps try googling your queries or even try asking You Tube - I learn an awful lot there. You can’t be alone in this! Take care and stay safe!

We are away on holidays right now and I have not found time to do much exploration on the new blogger...when our grandchildren leave I will try in earnest to figure it out.

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

Thank you for the book recommendation. Book clubs seem to be thriving here during Covid...safe distance meetings in the parks are a very common sight!

Will do some research when I have some free time...busy right now on holidays at the boat and cottage with the grandchildren!
