Yesterday I stopped in at a local church Thrift Store...
called The Friendly Octopus.
Who came up with that name?
I started in the housewares area and didn't see anything that was exciting so I headed over the the clothing section. It was busy! Lots of people were perusing the racks and I had to exercise patience as I moved carefully and methodically through the crowded room.
Jacket by Daniel Hechter
(those spots you see are on the mirror not the jacket)
Zips at the sleeve
there are some wear marks and a few scuffs on the jacket
but I think they give it a bit of an edgy vibe.
I am not sure if it is leather or possibly pleather
(no tags)
it's super soft and not too heavy.
I'm planning on wearing it with my new jeans and a vintage Beatles tee shirt
with my chelsea boots.

but not too old to have fun with fashion.
Do you shop for vintage clothes and collectibles?
What was your best find?

It's been a sunny week so far...
I purchased some beautiful tulips for our main floor bathroom.
Spring is definitely on the way!

Dear Hostess...what a fab find! It looks great on you and I love the "edge" it gives to your closet!
My best find is a Vince Camuto cashmere sweater I found in a consignment store in a college town. Tags still on ($300+). A Large not my usual Medium. A style with an open side laced w/a length of cashmere. I removed the lacing and hand-stitched up the side. Unless you look, you cannot tell that the open side is stitched close. I love wearing this over-sized sweater! So comfortable over my jeans and leggings! Thanks for allowing me to share my "find"! Charlene H
Wow! How serendipitous was that?! Just after your commented on my motorcycle jacket post that you were planning to look for one for yourself—you really are an excellent thrifter!
I really like your jacket, a good buy for you and with the t-shirt it looks great.
You can get leather paint in all colors now and even change the color of things. Good for touch up. I fixed a leather char that had an area that looked like suede and now looks like leather again. Diane in Denmark on Youtube painted a purse and changed black leather pants to brown!!.
What a great find! I have a number of vintage bags. And I've bought some vintage J. Crew and Ralph Lauren online. I have bought a lot of art and furnishings from consignment stores and have found some fabulous bargains. I love the treasure hunt!
Charlene that’s a stellar find! I would be thrilled to find a Quality designer cashmere sweater. I have a black v neck cashmere pullover and wear it at least once a week in the fall and winter...cashmere is so cozy!
I thought it was an incredible gift when I saw it...your post must have spurred me on...thank you for the inspiration.
The Beatles tee shirt is really old and soft and I do feel a bit of a rebel when I wear it!!!
I never knew leather paint existed! What a fabulous idea! Thank you for mentioning it. I plan to go and watch the You Tube video.
The thrill of the hunt is quite an “addiction” I do get quite excited when I find something fabulous for a super low price point. We are fortunate to have a variety of local charity shops in which to search...I also donate to them regularly. It’s a win win.
Great find, L! That looks like it's from the 90s, and it's probably leather if it feels soft still (pleather tends to get hard or crackly over time).
You know I'm an ace thrifter! Best finds: Andres Courreges, Etro, Yves St. Laurent (lifetime!), Fendi, Jean Charles de Castelbajac. There is some amazing stuff out there!
What a great find, it will fit in perfectly with you wardrobe. Lucky you!
TOO MANY TO LIST!AS I was a VINTAGE DEALER!
LOOKS LIKE YOU FOUND GOLD!
BLog post on ITALY you may enjoy over my way.

You solved my comment problem! I've been trying to start a new blog and to comment on the blogs I read. How did you know that the problem was Safari? My sister worked at Fairweather and Big Steel in the 1970's. DH was their brand so your jacket is probably leather. I've had pleather that peels and cracks. It is always fun to try different styles. Biker chic?
You are the most fashionable thrift shopper I know! You’ve got a real eye for designer garments and are a savvy dresser!
I wore it out yesterday when I ran some errands...white tee jeans and red ballet flats! I felt like a rebellious woman!!!
I am sure you’ve had many many finds. I have to pop over and read your post...on my way in a few minutes.
I have been researching a lot about why people can no longer leave comments on my blog and this appears to be the answer. I am looking forward to your new blog please let us know when you launch it!
You find such good things in the vintage department! Love the look of your leather jacket with the Beatles t-shirt. We're never too old to have fun with fashion!
I have seen women over 60 wearing fun outfits...its almost like they are throwing caution to the wind...I think that it is a sense of freedom and creative expression.
