Thank you to Eileen Fisher for creating timeless fashion choices...

Eileen Fisher designs and makes lovely clothes...
her ethical practises of reusing fabrics and recycling ring true.

In addition to her seasonal pieces she offers a "basic group of clothing" in a couple of key colours and styles...
they are mix and match classics that make getting dressed so simple.

Recently I purchased a couple of her pieces...
with my fall travel wardrobe in mind.

I bought slim ponte knit black pants...so smart and comfy.

You may remember that I already own a basic pair in black rayon which are quite dressy. I also have the black tank top which is perfect for layering.

(For summer I have the white linen tank and linen V neck sweater)

Before I found this jacket
I was really frustrated...

For several hours I tried on numerous trench coats
various jackets
not one hit it out of the park for me.

I am a curvy short woman
so I need to be careful of extra details
and the shape of a coat or jacket must be slimming.

Here's the new EF jacket...
this looked good on
the colour is a nice change.

This jacket has room for a vest or sweater underneath
which will make it a great choice for travel.

While we are on the subject of layering...
I found a great vest.

Eileen Fisher cozy vest in black.
So my carry on is taking shape...

I have a bamboo dress and a knit skirt.
Will add a couple of tops
a sweater
 one or two scarves
which should round out my minimal travel wardrobe.

Do you like Eileen Fisher clothes?
Perhaps you have a favourite designer?
Or do you have a company who makes clothes that you love to wear?

The closet is looking much more organized too...

I have sorted and hung things in colour groupings;
blues
blacks
greys
whites

Before
they were in sections;
pants
skirts
tops
dresses

The colour idea helps me reach for things that pair well together.
Plus with a really small wardrobe i
fewer choices to distract my focus
it simplifies getting dresssed.

I bought those EF black ponte slim pants for my trip to France last November. They were perfect. I used to think that EF clothing was too expensive but I love the pieces I have and they have worn very well. I really like that olive jacket. I love to plan trips and my trip wardrobes, planning is half the fun. And do I thank you or curse your for recommending My Stylish French Box? I ordered the November box and the scarf included was my constant companion on my trip.

I've never had any Eileen Fisher clothes, but I do really like that jacket. As I've said before I'm a blue person, but for some reason I really like loden green.

As I type my comment, I am wearing two Eileen Fisher pieces--black ponte pants and a black and gray soft knit top. Both are several years old (at least three years). I have really enjoy wearing Eileen Fisher clothing. That being said, I have been disappointed of late with Eileen Fisher clothing for two reasons: 1. I think the quality of the fabrics has gone down and 2. I cannot wear their "boxy" tops and that seems to be the main style Eileen Fisher is providing. Even so, I still pop into the Eileen Fisher shop here in Dallas whenever I am at Northpark Mall.

I like the quilt detail on that vest, and I think the jacket will turn out to be a great silhouette.

I think of my EF clothing as investments in me. I find these are the pieces I reach for almost every day. Once I realized that, I started buying her clothing almost exclusively. I find I have fewer pieces but feel better “put together .” I also limit my color palette. It makes dressing more manageable. I agree that her clothing can be boxy and oversized. I buy from Nordstrom’s on line. I often order 2 sizes of the same piece to see which fit I prefer. Nordstrom’s has a free returns policy.

I hadn't heard of Eileen Fisher prior to a trip to the US five years ago. I was drawn to her collection when I was browsing in a department store and bought a jacket and a top, although there were many other pieces I loved. They still get worn regulary, they are quality material and the designs are classic with a little bit of edge. Unfortunately I haven't found them in Australia but if I travel to the US or Canada I'll be looking for them again. The jacket is a similar length and style to yours and has been so useful for travelling!

She has such lovely clothing, I don't have any of it but I would like to. My problem is that I need petite sizes, and I do believe she makes them but I really haven't looked into it. I have had pretty good luck with the petites and Nordstroms.

Love your new jacket.

EF clothes are beautiful and ethically made. Unfortunately,my nearest stores are in London (little flagship store and Fenwick department).
Lucky you-your recent purchases are lovely and so versatile

Like you I used to think EF clothes were expensive but now that I have a capsule wardrobe the cost per wearing justifies the price. Her clothes last a long time and I am very careful laundering them.
I love the French boxes. They are a guilty pleasure and that scarf is so sumptuous 💚
Do you have any travel plans this year?

Eileen Fisher has some beautiful blue pieces! I know that Nordstrom carry her line and bought one of her linen sweaters from the Rack at a really great discounted price. Green is my favourite colour 💚 my eyes are hazel and the jacket makes them look greener!

That’s great to hear Susan! Quality Clothing should be made to last longer than the “fast fashion” industry which encourages buying in bulk and many pieces are inferior fabrics that pill and are scratchy when worn against the skin. I am not a snob or an expert about clothes I have learned the hard way that you get what you pay for.

Thank you Lisa...am wearing the vest here at the cottage as it is cold. Snow and minus 6 degrees. Hope you are warmer in California. My sister said it’s raining today in Palm Springs and told me of flooding in and around LA. Hope where you are there are no floods.

You’ve stated exactly how I feel about the EF line and about fewer clothes in the closet. If I were to order from Nordstrom I think they would charge me to ship...certainly from the US but we have a store in Vancouver now so I must look into that...thank you.

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

I wonder if Eileen Fisher is planning to expand to Australia? They may ship to you?
I know they have an online shop in the US.
But as you say when you visit Canada or the US you can find them. Great to hear the jacket has been a good traveller!

She does petites and that is really important when buying clothes as I am so short! Nordstrom carry her clothes! So you shouldn’t have to go far to find them.
Good luck!

The pattern on the vest is called a chevron...I have never seen a quilted vest like this one. It caught my eye right away!
My sister and I chatted on the phone this morning and she is in Palm Springs where they have rain and she said there is flooding in LA...hope you are safe.

London does seem a bit far to go shopping! I wonder if she has an online shop in Europe?
I wish she had a store here in Victoria but Vancouver is only a 2 hour ferry ride away so it’s doable even if I go once or twice a year.
We have snow today! How is your winter weather?

Fortunately without snow (we had only one week of 10-15 cm snow in January, when even the Adriatic coast had snow),about 4 °C,gloomy....
I don't know about EF Europe online shop ( and have asked and checked a lot),even Fenwick doesn't have online shop. Please, let me know if you find out
Thank you
D.

I will do some research and if I find out anything will post it here.

I will be interested as well as no EF in the wilds of Cumbria!

Only a very few can afford EF. I am not one of them unless I luck out at a consignment store. Some of her pieces look lovely and others are just too loose and baggy for my taste. My the, prices make me gasp.

EF clothing is lovely and comfortable. I have had a few pieces of hers. And I love to organize my closet by color, too. Lovely to walk in and see it all organized. Wow, you've been getting the snow!! Just another day here in Michigan, haha! xo
