Fitted jeans...

One item in my wardrobe that I love are a decent fitting pair of jeans.
I have a pair of boot cut NYDJ in the closet as the skinny pair that I owned developed a hole and I have not been able to bring myself to wear ripped jeans...

I have tried but they just don't "feel right" on me.
Do you wear ripped jeans?

I wonder if my Mother's style affects my inability to wear ripped jeans?
She taught me so many things about how we present ourselves to the world...
"her voice" and advice is still very much with me.

My OOTD
Black UP pants and Tilley top
Verve Ami knitted vest
Clark Chelsea boots

The fit is great and I love the ankle length with the slit detail at the bottom.
Can just imagine these with my red ballet flats!
The best part, besides the fit, was the cost, they were SO inexpensive!
Less than $40

A quick bite at Starbucks before heading to the club to play bridge.
We had a new player come and join us yesterday.
Its a fun group of people with varied levels of bridge skills.
We enjoy each others company and are a very congenial group.

We break for tea mid afternoon
the topic of conversation ranges from
art, travel, current events and local politics.

Besides reading and walking,
playing bridge and taking classes at the community centre
are wonderful perks of retirement.

We have grape hyacinths blooming in the garden!
Spring cannot be too far off...
there is snow falling in the higher elevations today.
Its raining here which makes it much easier to get out and about.

A snowy snapshot from the archives.

Daffodils are just so cheerful.
Sunny yellow blooms always put a smile on my face!

Raindrops do not dampen my spirit when there are flowers in the garden.

Hope that you are well and in good spirits.

Thank you for stopping by The Humble Bungalow Blog.

I must close for now as I am meeting a friend for a rainy walk and a light lunch.

I wear ripped jeans. Super baggy ones too. But that's my style - kind of rebellious and tomboy even though I'm rapidly closing in on old lady;).

Ah, the never ending search for perfect jeans......my daughter and I were having that discussion recently and we both believe they don't really exist. But I am definitely going to check out this new to me brand!

I like those jeans! The price is great too. I would not wear ripped jeans because they just are not me. I'm old enough to remember putting bleach on jeans to make them look faded. My father refused to drive me if I did not change. It's so nice to have flowers blooming. The snow did not hurt them at all. I'm just starting to read The Harem Midwife, a sequel to The Midwife of Venice. I just finished Madame Proust and the Kosher Kitchen. Today is sleety here so I'm in for the day. Bon weekend!

No ripped jeans for me. And yes, daffodils are so cheerful!

I don't wear ripped jeans, but would consider wearing them just at home or at our farm if a pair of mine developed a hole. I would never buy a pair of ripped jeans, but understand it is a look just right for many. After a number of years of not wearing jeans at all, I've finally found some that work for me---both high end and lower end. The high end are from Lafayette 148--and they are pricey. I buy them because they fit me and I like them. The lower end are J. Jill. Authentic fit. The J. Jill jeans are extremely comfortable. I have to order a TALL size to have them long enough. Right now, I would like a pair of full length white jeans and all they have is ankle length!

I would only wear ripped jeans to work in the garden, maybe. I don't like the look, generally, and have a hard time understanding why one would buy jeans already ripped. To each his own. I do like the look of your new jeans, although, on me, I prefer a little width at the ankle rather than skinny jeans. Grape hyacinths already, yay for you!

Ripped jeans are not for me. A comfortable jean with a classic navy blazer (or a long sweater) and an oxford shirt is more my preferred style. Your outfit is very flattering. We still have a snow cover, everything is melting then freezing again at night. Spring blooms can't come soon enough! Susan

It’s always good to find that “just right” pair of Jeans .... especially just above the ankle ones :)
I have recently started wearing ripped jeans in the house after a much loved pair ripped around the knees ... I actually do like the look, styled with the right top and shoes... that’s important, I think, as to whether the look works or not :)
I’m sure my mum is looking down with disapproval and disappointment :) Mum always dressed smartly even when doing the housework ... and still changed in the evening, even when living alone.
Lovely to see your daffodils Leslie

I wear jeans 99% of the time. I like different cuts, washes and yes, sometimes ripped and super baggy (summer.) Your new jeans look great.

Your jeans are very nice-I have one pair with similar slit detail on the bottom from Persona,it is a lovely touch
Brava for you learning Italian. I'm sure that you will enjoy the process and the ability to communicate on your trip

I wore ripped jeans in the 70s enough to last me a lifetime. Where did you buy the Vintage America jeans? They sound great.

Mom's voice is still in my head after all these years, yes. For years I did not wear black because she thought it "inappropriate." I do not wear ripped jeans when in public, just when gardening. My daughter scoffed when she saw ripped jeans in the store the first time. She was in high school and said, "I'm not paying that amount of money for new jeans when all I have to do is help dad in the woods (for firewood) for a week!" I do not have access to some of the brands mentioned above (except online-I don't buy clothes online yet) so I'm happy with my Lee Riders that I've been wearing since college. Ummm, not the actual jeans, the style. The slit detail, while I like it, would be meaningless to me because at 4' 11" it would disappear when I (inevitably) hem them. The only way I don't have to hem pants is when I buy cropped pants. They are a perfect length. I love your flowers. I can enjoy spring vicariously! Carol in VT

It surprises me how many different styles are available and so many different brands to choose from...it can take s lot of time finding the best fit. I was very pleased when I put these on and they work!

These jeans are short too which means I don’t have to hem them! That is s huge bonus...they are snug but not uncomfortable which helps me look a bit more toned in the tummy area which I like a lot. I am reading The Summer I Met Jack by Michelle Gable. Hope you are having a lovely weekend.

The sunny yellow really brightens up our rainy days! ☔️☀️☔️

I don’t think we have Lafayette 148 clothing here in Victoria, and we definitely don’t have JJill. I went into JJill in Seattle and saw many lovely things there...love that they have a petite line too. It’s getting harder to find petites here in our city as many of the shops have closed and the bigger shops don’t seem to get much stock. Good luck finding your white jeans!

I think there are way more ripped jeans 👖 than non ripped for sale in the shops! It’s very on trend. I Like the look on others just not on me.

Your jean outfits sound very classic...I used to wear a navy blazer over a crisp white shirt and jeans on Jean Friday’s at work...with a strand of pearls at the neck! Hope your weather warms up soon...it’s cold here too but the flowers are popping up despite the cold!

Gosh so did my Mom! She Always dressed well...ripped jeans 👖 for home and garden seems to be popular with many of you. We have to be comfortable in our clothes and that’s why there are so many choices and styles available as we are all different sizes and shapes and have a variety if tastes.

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

We are so fortunate to have so many choices! I never knew that jeans would be so popular...they are a wardrobe staple. When I started wearing jeans 👖 I was about 12 and there were a few basic choices Levi’s, GWG and Lee’s. Herd we are in our 60’s and there are hundreds maybe thousands of jeans to choose from!

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

Jeans are a popular choice of pants...they are classic choices everywhere i go I see women wearing them. Dressed up with a Chanel type jacket or worn with a tee and a cashmere sweater.
I plan to buy an Italian phrase book for travel! I cannot master the language in the time I have before the trip but it’s fun to try something new!
Have you got any travel plans ?

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

I found the jeans at Marshall’s which is similar to a US chain called TJ Maxx. The jeans are so comfy and because they are ankle length I don’t have to hem them!!

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

I love wearing black...mom wore it too.
Lee’s were one of the first brands of jeans we had here...Levi’s and GWG were also available. Buying jeans online would not be an option for me...they all fit so differently and the sizing is all over the map! I have a pair of NYDJ in white that are a size 8! I am more of a 12 these days but they fit and I think it must be because of the spandex!
I am 5’1 so the 31 inch inseam is great...you’d probably need a 29 inch inseam...think that The Gap would have some that would work for you.
Good luck!
