Life in the slow lane....

Quarter Deck Cottage

a new tablecloth
a bouquet of cheery yellow flowers
in an icy Modernist Finnish vase

These unusual daffodils...
were for sale in the Hardware store where we purchased the new tablecloth.

 $3 a bunch
 only two small bunches left
to fill our vase we would have needed about 10 bunches
so we headed to the flower shop instead
and found the chrysanthemums

The vintage sealer jar is home to our growing collection of beach glass.
It is my goal to fill this jar and then find another vintage jar
and keep on collecting...

Am reading this book about a young woman with Alzheimer's disease
I am in the first few chapters and enjoying it so far...

In between reading our books
we walk
we walk along narrow roads in the woods
we walk facing traffic
sometimes there are a few cars that pass us
other times
there are none.

Eagles soar above
ravens call
the wind rushes through the trees
clouds float by
I can hear my breath speed up as we climb the hills
and
on the downhill slope it feels like I have a surge of energy!

Grimmer Bay near Port Washington on Pender Island

Boat house and the public beach access

drawing in the sand...

Beach combing on a sunny Saturday afternoon.

Such a lovely spot for a walk and a meander about looking for beach glass.

Mr. HB outdid himself and found a piece of amethyst beach glass.

I picked up the shell and the other two pieces of glass.
I think this might be my first piece of amethyst glass...

Hope that you are enjoying your weekend and thank you for taking the time to pop by and visit The Humble Bungalow Blog.

Until next time...

What a lovely post, showing the beauty of our local surroundings. I'm longing to be home - 2 more days to go. We live in such a marvelous part of the world. Love that growing collection of beach glass.

I am so jealous of your beautiful sea glass. I would love to find some but seems the beaches we go to don't have any.

Spring in the quaterdeck cottage and around it is beautiful indeed.
Bravo for you and Mr. HB for finding beautiful pieces of beach glass-such a great idea to elevate your walks. I wonder-what could have been the amethyst glass before?
Have a nice weekend!

It's so wonderful to have this relaxation place built in to your regular schedule. A funny question - did Mr. HB do the sand writing? Very architectural lettering!

Simple living can be so restorative...not trying to accomplish too much in a day helps me to stay grounded.

We are so fortunate that our coast has so many pretty inlets and bays...I find walking along the beaches is a form of meditation.

It’s interesting that some beaches have lots of sea glass and others have none...

I think the amethyst glass would have originated as a bottle...old glass was often in shades of amethyst and cobalt blue. I am always looking for those shades and when we find some it’s exciting!

Good luck on your search for sea glass! I have a jar of all white beach glass...it is the most common of all the colours.

Pender Island looks beautiful. We walk our dog on the beach every morning, and you have started me looking for seaglass. Not much so far, but I'm storing it in an old pharmacy flask. Such a simple pleasure but non the lessvery enjoyable, thank you. Jules

Beautiful images. Does Pender Island have a garden tour in the summer like some of the other islands do? It would be interesting to see some.

I will have to do some research as that would definitely interest me...I love visiting gardens...there is a big one planned this May in Victoria and our dear friends are opening up their gorgeous garden for the first time and it is not to be missed!
