The Festive Season is well and truly upon us!

Ready or not the festive season is truly in full swing!

Hope that you are hanging in there!

We added a few seasonal decorations to dress up The Humble Bungalow
The faux tree is up and wrapped with white fairy lights.

There is a wreath on the front door...
 boughs and red berries
mandarin oranges.

I spent a lovely hour
lunching with a good friend at one of my favourite spots...
Pure Vanilla.

The Festive season can get far too busy as there is so much to do.
Cooking, baking, entertaining, being entertained, shopping, cards, decorating, wrapping presents and so it goes...

I need to remind myself to slow down
and
savour the simple things in life.

Lets take a collective deep breath...
stop and smell the flowers.

Jude The Obscure is STILL blooming!

Hope that you find some time to savour a few quiet moments this week.

I cannot believe you still have roses blooming and you are so right to stop and enjoy the moments although sometimes it's hard in all the busyness. Thank you for your lovely blog which, although I don't often comment, is one of my favourites. Merry Xmas to you and your family.

You're wise to slow down. I have resisted the craziness of Winter Celebration at school. I have attended some really inspiring seasonal choir concerts (not at school), a Christmas play and The Tenors. I'm making an appie for Book Club tonight. This afternoon, I plan to do nothing but read. Your roses are resilient!

I love the idea of slowing down during the Christmas season.

Good plan to slow down. It looks like you've got everything under control.
Your decor is beautiful.

Your roses are amazing! Love your tree with just the lovely white lights. Do you leave it just like that? Or do you put ornaments on it as well?

Wow still blooming that's amazing! One of my favourite roses.
I love this time of year so much, more than ever before. I'm really looking forward to my older two kids coming home for Christmas. Today I went shopping for the toy drive and while it was a bit nutty in the stores it was such a pleasant task.
We had a block party on Saturday and it was so festive and such a success, I saw a couple of the neighbours today and they were all smiles. I wrote about it on Mop Phil if you want the details, I kept it really simple which was key.
Have a really lovely week xx

I love the holiday season but you are wise to take a little down time and relax. Your house looks very festive with the tree. I love little twinkle lights.

School goes so late this year that I'm doing a little bit of Christmas preparation each evening. It's getting a bit wearing. Progress is being made, but come this weekend, I'm looking forward to a Saturday of doing not much of anything.
Your tree is very pretty with its festive lights.
What a warm fall we're having - even with the frosty mornings, I'm amazed your rose keeps blooming! Have a great day.

The roses are surprising me too! They are very fragile but still budding and when they open the petals scatter like confetti...so pretty.
Happy Holidays to you Christy.

I think as we get older we do get wiser and are better at time management!
Knowing when to slow down has been a lifetime of work for me as I tend to be super busy and like accomplishing things.
Hope that you are reading a great book...apple pie sounds like the ultimate in comfort...

Many of the people I associate with are in the "slow movement" now...quite a few of us have cut out unnecessary baking and have hung onto what is more meaningful and important at this time of year...friends and family and giving back to the charities and community projects that we support.

Our simple decor works in our humble home... I gave up the idea and illusion of control years ago...small and manageable helps keep me sane!

We only have lights since the newest cat is a "brat" when it comes to climbing the tree and undressing it...our cherished vintage baubles were getting broken right left and centre...so we gave up! Maybe one day...

I love the idea of a block party...I am heading over to your blog to read your post now.
Happy Holidays to you and your family.

The other thing besides breathing is to lower the shoulders...mine sometimes are nudging up towards my ears and I have to do some shrugs to loosen the tension...
Take care and enjoy your festive season.

It is an amazing year for this rose...I hope it saves enough energy to bloom again in the summer!

I can just imagine how pretty your lovely home is dressed up for the holidays...you have a special gift when it comes to decorating and feathering the nest.
Enjoy!

I thought that school was out this coming Friday but had lunch with a former colleague who set me straight...I remember how challenging it was to shop, bake and prepare for Christmas when we had to work almost to the day...the weather is supposed to be mild next week...hope your Saturday is restorative...take care.

Realy wonderful-Your beautiful Jude still blooming!
Your home looks very festive and cosy-a lot of lovely, interesting things
Advent time is really nice, but it seems to me more hectic every year
I have simple, beautiful for me, fairy lights (very similar to yours) inside and outside the house.
It is tradition here to decorate the tree on Christmas Eve,but I'll decorate it this weekend-I like to enjoy the atmosphere longer (and am late for this season) and Christmas Eve is overloaded with other beautiful events

Love the new bangs!

It is important to take some time to relax when the frenzy of the season is in full swing...
The felted animal ornaments are so popular right now...it would be fun to collect all of them!

I like to decorate a bit earlier too...more time to enjoy it all.
Green and white are simple and I like the effect of them together...a wee bit like snow on the trees...more natural.
Enjoy your weekend preparations Dottoressa.
