Grace in action...hope you are reading this Nadya!

Welcome to The Humble Bungalow
our neighbourhood is getting dressed up for the holidays.

Our bungalow Christmas lights are all white.
The neighbours in our area like to decorate with vibrant colours...
its fun to wander around the neighbourhood at night and see the festive accents.

This is a newer home on our street.
It has grey shingles and white trim and I love the garden with the box hedging.

I had not planned to write so soon after my Friday post
but I received the most gracious email from Carol
who was the recipient of the Weight Watchers Slow Cooker cookbook.

"I have not been able to get Nadya's entry out of my mind since I read it.
Perhaps I remember being so tired with a toddler (or two) to care for.
Perhaps it is because it is my son's goal to become a political science professor.
I suspect she would use the cookbook far more often than I."

~ Carol Woodard ~

Carol you are a gracious woman and your gesture is so very kind.

I hope that Nadya reads this and sends her mailing address so that I can forward the cookbook to her asap.

Nadya my email address is bungalowhostess@gmail.com

Carol please email me your mailing address as I want to send you something too!

Seasons Greetings!

Your neighbourhood is so festive. I haven't noticed many lights up around here yet, not that we have anything either. Whatever we do is very simple.

That was a lovely gesture from Carol. A lovely conclusion to what started out from you sharing a gift.

An act of generosity! It is the season. The lights are lovely. My mum was just saying that she missed driving around looking at the lights. I wonder if we will get snow this week. Your white lights would look like a fairyland with snow. I can walk or bus if I need to so I don't mind at all.

Isn't the holiday season wonderful. And the lights and the music are my favorite parts. Your neighborhood is so charming. When I did outdoor lights mine were all white too -they remind me of fairy gardens.

Your neighbours have put a huge amount of effort in to lighting up your 'hood. Are your lights in the top pics? Nice! My neighbourhood is a but slower to get started but I'll go out in the dark soon, see what's cooking and see if my camera's up to taking night lights. I hope I can cajole hubby into to putting some up for me...no sign of any enthusiasm from him yet though :-(.

There are quite a few homes decorated already...many of the homes have young children so it is understandable. Carol has shown her generous spirit with her kind gesture.

Our local newspaper publishes a list of homes that compete for the best decorated light contest...it is a worthwhile drive.
No snow yet but we heard some of the ferries were cancelled because of high winds on your side of the pond.

Festivities at this time of year inspire random acts of kindness and giving.
I suppose that is why I like this time of year so much.

Happy Holidays to you too!

I love the carol singers that go from house to house collecting non perishable food items for the Food Banks.

The first 4 pictures show our humble bungalow the others are in our neighbourhood. The night shots came out a bit blurry but you get the general idea!

Aren't those lights just beautiful. People have started here and I'm hoping to tour some of the downtown lights tomorrow. Friends and I are going to the Christmas Market at the Distillery District late tomorrow afternoon and if we time the buses right when we leave we'll be able to ride up Bay Street, past all the lit up Bank bldg. and City Hall with it's giant Christmas Tree and the whole square lit up - should be lovely!
And Carol W. has demonstrated the true spirit of the season - how lovely of her - well done!

No lights here yet. I'll do ours after my husband's birthday on 8th. I try to keep all the outside decorations white. Yours look lovely.

Thank you thank you thank you! All of you are so kind, especially because this weight stuff can get me down and thus community is so upbeat about it. Thank you. Sincerely, Nadya
