In Holiday mode for a wee bit longer....

Greetings from The Humble Bungalow.
I am still very much in holiday mode but thought I would share a few of the holiday snapshots with you.

Our faux tree with simple white fairy lights.

Boxing Day
before the gifts were opened...
(most of these parcels are for the grandchildren)

Fraser Fir candle adding to the ambiance with the scent of a real tree.

Our tiny living room

Dining Room
lunch table set
food prepared
we are ready for the family's arrival.

We had a fun filled day and the grand children were such fun to watch.
We had a small turkey with all the trimmings and a kale salad.
Grammy's home made macaroni and cheese as the wee ones seem to like it!

This Hostess is quite pleased as Santa decided it was time to replace our 15 year old Volvo with a newer one!

That's Kyle, the salesman at Volvo of Victoria, standing beside me.
The staff at Volvo of Victoria are very knowledgable and helpful.
They made our purchase experience so relaxing and easy...

V60 Cross Country

The car has so many wonderful safety features...
and is a quiet and comfortable car to drive.

It's a fun ride.

If we are lucky
it should be another 15 years before we need to buy another car...
Volvo's are made to last a LONG time.

So that's it for now...
I'll be posting more soon.

If I don't manage to write another post until after New Years...

Wishing you a healthy
and
Happy New Year!

Thank you for reading my humble blog.

Enjoy the new car. I agree, we have to hang on to Christmas and the holidays just a little longer, for me until the children go back to school next week, that will be a sad day, so making the most of these last few special ones now. Wishing you a very happy and healthy 2017 too. X

I had a vintage green Volvo for many years. My husband's was silver. They were from 1970 & 1972. LOve your new ride. ENJOY every moment.

It sounds like you are enjoying a slower pace right now too!
Great opportunities to connect with family and friends as many people are on holidays....I remember how much I loved the slower pace too when the children were little...no rushing out the door to get to school!
Happy New Year to you in France!

I have had 4 Volvo's since the 1980's...I am a fan.
It's an easy car to drive and my goodness I feel so safe in it with all the new technology that has been developed since our last one rolled off the assembly line.

Cozy and festive atmosphere in your home!
Congratulation on your new car-it is beautiful and I find cross country models safer (especially for your climate) and easier to get in and out
I wish you a Happy and Healthy New Year!

Congrats on the new sleigh (as you aptly call it). Your home looks so warm, cosy and inviting. Happy New Year to you and your family.

Happy New Car Hostess! What a wonderful present ...you look very excited and happy in the picture with Kyle. We've just arrived in Switzerland for New Year and our hire car is a Volvo ...I always think they have the most comfortable seats, as well as being great to drive and most importantly, safe! It's a four wheel drive with snow tyres ...not that we need them this year as unfortunately there's no snow in some of the lower villages and slopes and considerably less on the tops of the mountains. It's still amazingly beautiful though and I'm so happy to be here :)
Your bungalow looks so welcoming and peaceful, as always. Glad to hear you had a wonderful time over Christmas with your family ...I did too and feel very blessed!
Wishing you and your family a very happy, healthy and fun filled 2017.

Oh wasn't Santa good to you! Love seeing your bungalow all decked out for the season....holding on here, too, for one more day.
Wishing you and yours the very best in 2017. jen

Your home looks lovely - glad to hear that you had such a lovely time with the family!
I don't drive but I do have a couple of friends who swear by their Volvos and won't drive anything else. What I do approve of is the fact, like you, they've had those cars for a long, long time - no trading them in every couple of years.
Have a Happy, Happy New Year everyone!

What fun to have a new car for the new Year!

Haven't cars evolved? My goodness those new Teslas' practically drive themselves!

I like how the XC feels sturdy, it is a heavy car and with AWD it hugs the road.
As we do not buy cars very often I am hoping this will last us at least another 15 years!
Happy New Year!

I read your latest post this morning and it sounds like you are feeling better...having a flu/cold during the holidays is no fun.
Happy New Year wishes to you.

The Volvo's are super comfy to drive and to ride in...the seats have lumbar support and for long road trips are divine!
One of my former colleagues, a retired teacher, is in Switzerland this Christmas to spend time with his family and he has been posting on FB pictures of the beautiful villages...it looks like a pristine and picturesque place to visit. Hope you enjoy your trip.
Best wishes to you Rosie and thank you for all your comments over this past year.

Thank you Jen!
The build up to the holidays seems to take forever and then in a matter of a few days we are packing up the decorations and putting everything away...we usually wait until New Years Day to put it all back into storage.
Best wishes to you for a healthy and happy New Year!

This is our 4th Volvo and like your friends I am a devoted fan...safety and comfort come first in my book....we cannot afford to trade cars frequently, nor homes for that matter, we are still living in our "first" home purchased in 1982 and when we feel that we can no longer maintain it we plan to sell.
Happy New Year Margie!

It is a thrill to be driving a new car and we will hopefully have it for many years to come.
Is your holiday away filled with lovely walks in the sunshine? I thought of you yesterday when I had to hold my umbrella sideways in the gusty wind and rain on my walk!
BTW, I hope your daughter is feeling better after her surgery.
Best wishes to you and your family for the New Year.

Leslie, congratulations on your new wheels. Very sturdy and classy looking for what my mother would call, "a classy broad."
You house is beautiful, especially with the extra Christmas finery. I love how you styled your fireplace.
I hope you and Mr. HB have a great New Year! Carol

What a very special Christmas gift you had this year, and you look so happy, sweet to see. I enjoy seeing your living rooms, with that beautiful wood detailing, and your Christmas tree is just gorgeous. Happy New Year to you and the family.

The car is a solid vehicle...safety is a top priority.
Our house was very simply decorated this year...we used mostly natural elements and kept the fuss to a minimum...not that I am a scrooge I just did not feel motivated to go all out with baubles and tinsel because of our naughty cats.
Happy New Year to you and your family Carol.

It is not often that we buy something this big so of course I am thrilled! We try to live within our means and so splurges like this are few and far between.
Homemade mac n cheese is easy and for what you pay for frozen or packaged the cost is much lower...and I think the flavour is better.
Happy New Year Stephen and I hope that you are feeling more energy with each passing day.

What a wonderful Christmas car! I didn't have a real tree either this year. I was worried the dogs and cat would destroy it. Our Frenchie, Bee tore apart several presents while we were out one night. She chews everything in sight. lol
