Busy Bees...flowers and food from The Humble Bungalow garden.

Hip Hip Hooray!
Sunflower season is upon us and bunches and bunches of these gorgeous flowers are waiting to be scooped up from the Farm Stands and Flower shops.

Such a cheery yellow flower...
so simple and when massed together they make a bold bouquet.

The bees are attracted to these beautiful big blooms.

Look at all the pollen that this worker bee has on its wings and body!

Another bee gathering pollen...looks like the pollen is dropping off the wings

I managed to capture another worker bee in flight...
with so many bees on the sunflowers you could hear them buzzing.

Bees seem to be plentiful here in The Humble Bungalow Garden and for that I am grateful as we have been enjoying the first taste of our tomato crop.
The greenhouse is proving to be quite valuable...
we had our first cucumber last weekend and the flavour was so sweet.

Heirloom tomato "Salad" variety served on top of butter lettuce leaves.
Sprinkled with a bit of salt and pepper with a light drizzle of dressing...
yummy!

I was busy running errands and it was noon before I knew it
so I took myself out for a quick bite
a curried vegetable wrap and a side of salad

sitting at an outdoor table in the sunshine
with the sounds of the birds and the scent of the sea...
 a lovely summer holiday moment
and I did not need to travel far...

Hope you are having a fabulous week.

Those are beautiful photos of the sunflowers. We are planting new plants throughout the complex to attract bees and butterflies. We planted some Russian sage today. Aren't fresh,
ripe tomatoes the best?

Fabulous photos of the sunflowers and the bees. You are an excellent photographer, and I'd love to have your high-resolution lens too! Lunch looks so delicious - nothing beats a fresh salad. I'm off to have one now...

Russian sage is a favourite of the bees...I had some in the garden last year but it seems to have disappeared? Blue flowers are so pretty in a summer garden. Fresh ripe tomatoes ARE indeed the best!

Knowing that you are surrounded by your family and I am thinking that your days are full to the brim with adventures and LOVE! What could be better?

These images were captured quite quickly and IPhones have such amazing cameras that anyone can all take great snapshots...it helps having interesting subjects to take pictures of though...

Wonderful pictures of the flowers and bees! The ones with the pollen are especially good. My rain drenched garden is nowhere near ready to serve me a salad. :-)

That is the kind of moment that truly makes summer! I love sitting contentedly by myself over a simple meal on a sunny terrace. It's good to have company, yes, but sometimes just being able to soak up the goodness alone is luxurious. Wonderful photos today!

Your lunch looks ever so tasty! A local Oak Bay cafe?

A pleasing visual presentation is so important when it comes to enjoying ones meal...my darling daughter always likes to artistically "plate" her food before she serves it!

We are fortunate to be getting Rain ...so many areas are experiencing drought conditions....when the weather changes your garden will be happy that it was watered from above...and in the meantime you can knit!

Contentment indeed and a such a simple summertime moment...
I am very comfortable dining alone...I love sharing a meal with my husband or friends but I can also enjoy a meal by myself.Dining solo is something that I discovered I could enjoy after I turned 50...and now that I am into my 60's I have had many opportunities to practise! Oh an those Paris cafes....in the 6th arrondissment and The Latin Quarter near the Sorbonne had so many lovely outdoor cafes....

Gosh the whole clan is there...you ARE busy!
Knitting here too....my friend is away at her cottage for the summer, the one who knows about the local knitting group so I will ask her when she returns.

Thank you so much! I took my Mum to Mattick's Farm which we enjoyed very much. I think we'd love this place too. xo
