Walks, weather and the weekend.

The sun came out on Friday and it is amazing how it lifted my spirits.
I decided to walk to town...

Cyclamen blooming in a rustic vessel on the front porch of The Humble Bungalow.

The sun illuminating the trunk of the Arbutus tree beside the front porch.
Lime green and sienna bark mingle...

a few puddles remain

I look taller in the shadows...

I daresay that this is not the original concrete ball atop the wall!
Looks suspiciously like a bowling ball to me.

The building that houses the Bike Shop looks crisp set against the blue sky.

Street tiles from many years ago still remain on a few streets in Fairfield.
I took a zig zag route to town and enjoyed looking at the heritage houses that line the streets.

I pottered about in the shops and looked at the sales.
In the end I opted for a new pair of NYDJ in a dark wash in their skinny style.
Not on sale but I had a $50 credit so they were a better price, one that I can live with!
All that walking and shopping made me thirsty so I stopped for a cup of tea and enjoyed the view of the Inner Harbour.

Victoria Harbour views looking west...
a seaplane taxiing out for take off
masts just visible above the rooftops
the Victoria Clipper high speed ferry at the far left middle of the picture.

The weekend is going to be full to the brim...
on the agenda
lunch out and shopping with lovely daughter
brunch with our son, DIL, and grand children
dessert here with our neighbours and their month of holiday snapshots from Australia
routine domestics
tea
coffee
baking
 a few walks.

What are you doing this weekend?

Be Well and Be Kind.

What a lovely walk, thanks for taking us along. I never knew the formal name for our Madrona trees that I love so much, Arbutus. I've been working on a big vat of Borscht that I am serving up for supper with friends tonight. I just gave in to myself and decided to do pavlovas for dessert, so I'm off to bake meringues.

Yesterday, I walked and found so many snowdrops and a few small narcissi in bloom. Do they have NYDY jeans in Victoria because my favourite shop closed and HBC does not carry them anymore. As my "best" jeans, I really like them. My friend and I were walking in a local park yesterday and we met our first group of refugees. Two couples with quite a few children. I felt so happy for them that they could sit peacefully in a park away from war and I felt happy to be a Canadian who could share my peaceful park with them. Too many lunches out this week. Oh well!

Don't we live in a wonderful place!?
Me? I too had some good walks, arranged some primulas on the front porch, made a VAT of homemade soup for the freezer and have a lovely Dutch oven of Moroccan Stew bubbling in the oven for guests this evening. It has definitely been a good weekend.

Your photos and the poetry you write about them makes me feel I've been on your excursions with you. I'm always more relaxed afterwards. Thanks.

You have a lovely city for walking, with a gorgeous harbour view. I don't recognise the stripe flowers but they are really stunning, and the white cyclamen looks lovely too. Hope you enjoyed the photos of Australia!

Those chrysanthemums? are gorgeous!
The weather finally warmed up today in Marco Island; which will make housebreaking a new puppy a bit more pleasant.

I don't think snow is in our forecast but boy it is cold and icy on the east coast.

I purchased my NYDJ at the downtown Bay here in Victoria...I happened to be at The Mayfair Bay today and they have them in stock there too...I hope that your Bay will be re-stocking them so you can invest in another pair.
LOts of lunches out around ones birthday are meant to be savoured and enjoyed!

Yum...Moroccan Stew might be just what I need to add to my repertoire...

What beautiful photos. We are having a warm spell in Oakville. I'd hoped to ski this weekend but now I'm not so sure!

I hope your healthy eating/ weight loss is going well ... mine not so good:( I'm determined though .. like you I know I can do it, just need to persevere!!
Hope you're having a good week.

Beautiful photos as always. I wish I had walks like yours. Here in rain swept Cumbria I'd drown or get mowed down by a large tractor!! I envy you your walkable city. Please keep sharing.

Yes indeed and they are mums, vibrant and cheap and cheerful!

Rosie...the weight is coming off ever so slowly...too slow for my liking.
I am persevering but it is taking more effort than usual...GRRR!
We can do it, we can do it...rah rah. :-))

Sounds like your weather is making it a challenge to get outside...it is snowing back east and people are house bound, here on the wet coast (westcoast) we only have precipitation to contend with...no shovelling or tractors involved, and for that I am grateful.
Spring is just around the corner so you'll be out and about before long...and the daffs will be putting on a show!
