Simple Joys...

Thank goodness for a quiet weekend to relax and enjoy the simple things...

Hot ancient grains and oats by Rogers and a fresh kiwi for breakfast.
Warming from the inside out on a cold morning.
Pure goodness and a healthy choice...
a simple joy to start the day.

Sipping some tasty tea and listening to the birdsong outside...
Silk Road makes some of my favourite blends
they are located downtown in Victoria's Heritage Chinatown.
They have a lovely little spa and make wonderful skin care and bath products.
They also have an online shop for those of you who live further away...

The freedom to stay in my PJ's until 11:00 in the morning.
it felt truly decadent and luxurious...
JOY!

speaking of a little luxury I pulled out all my Hermes scarves
and opened all the orange boxes and had a peek.
It has been awhile since I have worn them as our weather calls for wool and cashmere scarves and mufflers.

that wee pink scarf is the one that I bought in Paris
really my only significant souvenir other than my memories

this black and white Hermes scarf is the one I wear most often

I wore a Symplii black dress and black tights with my booties to the celebration of life on Friday
skipped perfume but layered on some classic pearls
lots of familiar faces were at the service
nearly a full house
it was a fine tribute
the food was perfect and I got some experience as a server carrying trays
it is not as easy as it looks!
There were a dozen or so friends and family members serving and we all were rookies together so it was fine.
"Security in numbers!"

There are so many interesting and eye catching things popping up on my waking and driving routes these days...

This tree is on my drive home from bridge and Mah Jong.
It is really quite unusual and reminds me of a dancing woman...
( my imagination runs away with me sometimes!)

snowdrops are up

sweet scented buds

emerging

spreading pink scented wafts into the air

Hope that you are enjoying your weekend and are avoiding all those nasty colds and flu's that are about...
my throat is feeling a bit scratchy so I am pacing myself.

Another wonderful post Hostess. Since Dallas is such a warm winter climate, I'm able to wear my Hermes scarves this time of year. I like your black and white scarf! It looks quite versatile! All of my H scarves (with this exception of a pointu) have some black in them. They are a practical way of adding some zip to a basic wardrobe. By the way, I love your simple teapot.

From Margie in Toronto - Love those orange boxes and my next Hermes purchase is definitely going to be a black & white one as it would be so versatile with my wardrobe - probably won't be until the end of the year though. May we see all your scarves one day? I love to see what others have chosen as there are so many options out there!

Love the pink PJs!

Your scarves are terrific. Can't go wrong with black and white. And the bright pink print scarf is outstanding. This adds a nice pop of color. Great scarf selections. You will wear these scarves over-and-over...and best of all you'll never tire of them. The pearls - well I love pearls and own them in every length. The necklace clasp is important to me too. Some vintage clasps are quite elaborate (jeweled) and this adds to the necklace. Depending on the outfit and the occasion, wearing the clasp front and center adds to the total outfit. I find a jeweled clasp ups the outfit for a dressy occasion.
Love the pink PJ's and a cup of tea during the winter months is always good. Susan

Those orange boxes are always fabulous. The black and white scarf is great. I imagine you use it all the time.

I have been reading The French Beauty Solution and the author mentions the good effects of rooibos tea. This one sounds delicious. The scarves are all lovely.

I love rooibos teas; especially Sloane Tea's; Rouge Provence and Marrakesh Mint.

Are the flowers showing up extra early this year? Such a happy find. Living farther north, we're still dealing with snow storms.

Orange boxes, pink pyjamas, stars in the road and moss on the trees, all beautifully photographed and so colourful

Flannel PJs are the best - so cozy. That tree is amazing.

I just saw my first snowdrop last week. Our winter is so short! That pink scarf is lovely. So are the boxes.

Girl, your photography is on FLEEK! Gorgeous!

I particularly love those PJs--thought they were monogrammed Lilly until I realized, no, Ralph.

Also that pink Hèrmes is DIVINE.

Beautiful post!

We took a quiet weekend here as well, just the two of us, recuperating and catching up on books and Netflix. Love that viburnum bloom at this time of year when fragrance is so uplifting -- mine actually blooms from November right through until about March, a real treasure!

Love your PJ's! I usually start longing for more color next month, and by March am really ready to move on. As always, your photos are so nice.

I unashamedly cover your Hermes scarves. I was given one once ... but the colours were all wrong for me, in brash blues and golds, and so I parted company with it. Yours are a delight.

What pretty PJs, which match that gorgeous Hermes pink scarf. It sounds like a lovely day, sipping tea and relaxing. Love the snowdrops!

The teapot is by Sophie Conran for Portmeiron...I have a set of 8 of her everyday dishes and an array of completer pieces...I am enjoying the white as it makes any food look delicious!
Having black in all your scarves would make them very versatile...good planning!

Orange and blue boxes are the hint of something luxurious....

I have shown all my Hermes scarves on the blog...if you wan to see them all just click on the blog side bar and look at the labels...click on Hermes scarves and it will take you to all the related posts.

Thank you Linda! If I err in adding colour to my "going out" wardrobe I certainly throw caution to the wind when it comes to sleepwear!!

Susan...I agree with you about the clasps...I also have a "pearl enhancer" which is a diamond studded heart that clips onto the front of a strand of pearls and fits between the knots...I must remember to show it again.

Jen...the boxes are quite fun! I use the black and white scarf often as it goes with all my clothes. I do try to mix up the scarves though as they are like wearing pieces of art...each one so individual and pretty.

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

Oh thank you for mentioning a new book...I could use a good one right now!

I remember the gift pack of those delicious Sloane Teas that you sent me a few years ago...such a thoughtful gift! Thank you again!

Snowdrops are on schedule but other bulbs like daffodils are blooming earlier than usual...we have had a rather mild winter so far.

I often wonder if the images that I capture speak to others...I notice so many things that I find joy and beauty just looking at...happy to hear that I am not the only one!

That tree is a strange shape...can you visualize the woman dancing?

My PJ's are cotton but I do love flannel for warmth...especially in the early and late days of boating season when there is a nip in the air.

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

They have that same effect on me...

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

Oh and some of the daffodils are up...I took a friend a bouquet of daffs and pussy willows when I delivered soup to her family...they have all been down with the flu. Hope you are keeping well.

I had to google FLEEK Poppy!
Lilly-esque RL that is what attracted me to them...

We are watching River on Netflix...my purple berry bush is still in bloom! Love the pops of colour in the fall and winter...just what we need to see in the gardens at this time of year.
Hope you are well and truly over that nasty bug.

Thank you Mary Lou...March is the herald of Spring here too...I embrace colour and look for something new and fresh to celebrate the change of season.

Scarves without designer labels were how I started wearing mine...there are many great vintage finds out there in charity shops and on Etsy and Ebay.
The Hermes are lovely but they are not the only ones to own...have fun hunting for some in your colours!

Some weekends I must take time to rest...giving in and giving myself permission to slow down has taken me years!
