Feeling low? Do you need a boost?

Greetings from The Humble Bungalow...

How has your week been?
Busy like mine?

If you have been busy burning the candle at both ends
you are probably looking forward to a restful and restorative weekend.

Are you feeling tired and sluggish?

Have you been neglecting your diet and eating processed and fast food?

Are you craving carbohydrates?

That is always a sure sign that I need to recommit to a healthier eating regime.

A friend and former co-worker recently met me at a local spot in Oak Bay for tea.
Not an ordinary tea, but one that is packed full of antioxidants.
Perhaps you already drink this power packed wonder drink.

Matcha Tea
I was a Matcha "Virgin" until this week!
The tea energizes and the caffeine is released slowly throughout the day.
There is a lot of information online to support it's nutritional claim to fame.

Green goodness

The ambiance and decor are very soothing...much like the Matcha tea.

Tiff is on hand to advise you on what type of Matcha Tea she would recommend.
She expertly brews up a bowl freshly made to order.

I am keen to return and sit quietly
savouring and sipping a bowl full of healthy and nutritious goodness.

If you have tried Matcha Tea,
or if you are new to it,
I would be interested in hearing what you have to say on the subject.

Our green eyed little "trouble maker" the mischievous  Chester...
willing me to try and take his green mouse!

Hope you have a lovely weekend.
Until next time...
Be Well and Be Kind.
XO

It might be healthy, but the fact that it has the Kit Kat logo on the outside means that I would probably want a choccy biccy with it!!!!

I am an avid tea drinker, but have never had matcha. There are not too many places near me. I will have to investigate this.

I have tried Matcha Tea. It is perfect for getting back to a healthier diet. The tea shop looks so serene. Perfect for slowing down.

That kit kat logo made my mouth water... and not for tea!

Hi there! I drink green tea every day, sometimes up to 5 cups. This sounds like a lot, but I use Japanese tea cups. The amount of tea is quite smaller than a cup of black tea would typically be. This has been a fantastic alternative for me since I used to drink coffee, but then coffee started to make me jittery and anxious all day. Matcha is a bit too strong for me, but it is a staple in my pantry. I use it to make green tea cake!

Green tea/matcha is loaded with antioxidants. Also, if you want even less caffeine, I suggest trying roasted green tea. You still get all the nutrient benefits. We live close to a Japantown so there are great Asian markets selling it all inexpensively.

I may give it a try. I have tried Macha before, in Argentina and in a cafe on Cook St. Neither cup of Macha was to my taste but I would be willing to try again!

I just ate 1/2 carton of Hagen Daz Chocolate, chocolate chip gelato. That explains my day!

As for me, I'd love to try playing with Chester and the green mouse. :-) What a beautiful face he has.

I drink a pot of tea every morning and like to savor different kinds but I always seem to return to English Breakfast tea. This Matcha Tea looks quite interesting.

I love the matcha kit kat, (A visiting Japanese friend brought some for us), but matcha tea I just can't seem to take to. Once I asked for a green tea lemonade at Sbux but was made a green tea latte by mistake. I thought's I'd try the latte just to see, but I hated that too. Guess I'm a black tea girl thru and thru. Actually, I mostly drink rooibos, and mostly bergamonty Earl Grey. There is a company named Dragonfly Tea who make a wonderful rooibos Earl Grey in tea bags rather than loose tea! So much easier for that first cup in the morning when all I want is a cup of tea and don't want to fuss with the tea pot. But they only sell in the UK. :(

I thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful post, so lovely, so serene. I will try some matcha tea just because you made it so appealing! Thanks for this.

I will try this tea. Currently, I enjoy Chamomile and Lemon Ginger tea during the afternoon. First thing in the morning I like Earl Grey. Anyone that experiences low energy consistently should have their iron levels checked. This might explain the low energy. For low iron, I like Mega Foods Blood Builders. This restores iron levels and renews energy. Chester is adorable. Susan

I've never tried Matcha tea. I'll have to check it out.
Chester is adorable! My cat is actually named Trouble. lol. I named him after Madama Butterfly's son Trouble.
We just got a black French Bulldog, that I've named JuJuBee.

They serve chocolate covered almonds sipped in Matcha with your tea and there are small KIt Kats that offer a wee taste...win win.

It might be an acquired taste...

The decor must be designed with serenity in mind...

KIt Kat with Matcha must be a big seller for them to import it to Canada!

I have a few green tea blends that I enjoy and purchase mine from Silk Road Teas in Chinatown here in Victoria...drinking out of a Japanese cup sounds beautiful and part of the ceremony of "taking Tea."

The tea is a wee bit bitter...perhaps that is why they serve theirs with a couple of chocolate covered nuts dipped in Matcha!

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

Oh my...but I am betting that it was delicious!
Hope your weekend is going well.

He loves playing...and rarely gets tired when there is a toy mouse involved!

Teas are so varied...I love to have a variety and decide on which one to brew depending on my mood. English Breakfast is a classic.

I love Lapsang Souchong tea and it has a gunpowder taste...and the great thing about teas is that there are oodles of new blends to try.

Let me know what you think...it sounds like it might be an acquired taste!

Anyone feeling consistently tired should see their doctor...I am not advocating that tea is a cure all! I know my limits and medical advice is not one of them!!

Those little French bulldogs are so sweet! I hope you will post some pictures of JuJuBee on your blog!
