a quick hello...

Oh my the time has gotten away from me and I have not had an opportunity to sit at my computer...
until now with a cup of Mariage Freres Paris Breakfast Tea and a late breakfast.

I am really loving this Riviera yogurt from Quebec.
The wee jars are so sweet.
The Laiterie Chalifoux website sells plastic lids for the jars in a variety of colours.
Which makes them even more useful!

Mr. HB has been busy decorating the Humble Bungalow Garden.

He hung up the wreath that his Mother had a friend make way back in the late 60's.
It is made of pine cones, baubles, ribbons and vintage rhinestone pins...
now we are the stewards of this family "heirloom!"

I went to my favourite flower shop Thorn and Thistle and bought some festive greenery.
I just popped it all in our urn at the bottom of the stairs...easy peasy.

I love these colours and the variety of textures.

Night time images of Our Humble Bungalow Garden all dressed up for the season follow...

Well that is it for now...
things are about to happen in the kitchen.

Stay tuned as next
I'll post on some super tasty and easy Hostess Gifts.

Happy Sunday to you all!

I love that wreath so much! You can't replicate that fabulous age in Christmas ornaments. Looking forward to your post on hostess gifts.

Excellent wreath! I haven't even started to decorate, still recuperating from stupid virus. But it's fun to see it begin elsewhere.

Hostess, I love the 60s wreath. We hope to get our Christmas tree up this week as well as some other Christmas decorations.

Your home looks beautiful ...colourful and festive. Your mother in laws wreath is certainly something to treasure. So unique, especially incorporating the vintage rhinestone pins.

Your decorations are great, especially the garden ones. Everyone seems, like me, to love your wreath. I am glad you focused on the pins. I tried to see them several times

Lovely decorating. I love the white lights and coloured baubles. The wreath is very special. We haven't given a thought to decorations yet, I must get my brain into gear soon.

I have often thought about trying to make another wreath like this one but with the price of vintage rhinestone pins I have been scared off!

Oh I hope you bounce back quickly...my sister was in Palm Springs for the past few weeks and was sick the entire time. It is a nasty bug...get well soon.

Our tree goes up just before Xmas as we get a live tree and the cats like to climb it!
We have to keep a close eye on them and close the doors to the living room when we are not home!

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

I feel very fortunate that we have it to enjoy and then pass it on to our family.

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

It would be fun to make one...
I am just a wee bit shocked at how hard vintage rhinestone pins are to source and when you find them they are anywhere from about $20-$100 each!

I have been meaning to write a post but life got extra busy...you know how that goes!

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

Oh we are early...probably as early as we have been in years! Just felt like we had the time and energy and the weather was good.

Mr. HB is really hands on when it comes to lights outside...
he likes to do the lights on the tree and has had years of experience so has it down to a science!

I first found the yogurt at Peppers in the Cadboro Bay Village.
Our local Thrifty Foods have them in the dairy section too...coconut, plain, apricot, fig and berry. You might find them at your Thrifty Foods location.

From Margie in Toronto - Love the wreath - it's so different and so sparkly - it would be wonderful to make something similar! And your garden looks so pretty all lit up. I've been giving my apt. a good clean today as I plan to get out the decorations tomorrow and start getting things sorted. I have a 4' artificial tree and I've bought some new decorations this year - a lovely teal/turquoise which I'll mix in with some older ones - I'm thinking of clear & white - or perhaps some bronze if I can find any. My apt. is small so I can't go overboard - usually just some lovely bowls full of balls, along with a poinsietta and some greenery. But it looks nice and with some candles it will be very Chrismassy.
PS - wanted to say thank you for linking to The Vivienne Files - I have become a real fan AND I just bought my first Hermes scarf from the lovely Janice and I am thrilled. I'm going to check out some videos to see the best way to tie it. I have a Christmas Tea coming up at he Royal York hotel with friends and I think I'm going to wear it for that - can't wait.

I love all of your lights, one of my favorite things about the holiday season are the lights...especially in the garden. So pretty.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...everywhere you go!! Looks lovely, Leslie :) But, where are those 4 big balls under the white lights in your place...inside or out? The vintage wreath is breathtaking!!

Your decorations look lovely.

I would love to find your stuffed eggs recipe. Am going on a picnic tomorrow and remembered how tasty your eggs looked. I should have copied the recipe at the time.

Looking forward to your hostess gifts post.

Your home is so tastefully decorated. That wreath on the door is a true heirloom. Agree about the price of vintage pins, they cost more now than they did when new.

Pam said...

Thank you so much!! will check Thrifty's out...

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

I have added a "labels" or tags option on the side bar at the very bottom right...click on recipes and you can find the stuffed eggs there. Hope you have fun on your picnic!

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

The big balls are outside in the garden hanging from the dogwood tree!

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

Your colour scheme for the tree sounds "icy" and lovely.
Our home is small too so we cannot go crazy with decorations...
Congratulations on your first Hermes scarf! I hope you will feel wonderful when you wear it!

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

Sounds like you have been having fun decorating...'tis the season!

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

You are so right...
For gifts, my father used to buy Mother Sherman rhinestone sets of earrings, bracelet, necklace and a pin all in the same style in a velvet box at Birks and we were not a wealthy family by any means. They have appreciated over the years...still quite lovely to wear on a special occasion.

Hostess I'm in love with that beautiful wreath. What a fabulous treasure. The bungalow looks lovely decked out in it's Xmas finery. Must follow you on instagram. Our weather is turning nasty it was 20 degrees today but will be 40 on Sunday. As they say that is Australia.

I love the nice big balls in the trees outdoors especially the white mesh looking ones.. so pretty.. I always want to do that at my place and never get organized in time to do it :) Thanks for visiting my blog too.. nice to 'meet' you :)

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

It would be fun to collect the makings and put a personal slant on one of these wreaths...a family keepsake...and a possible future "heirloom!"

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

Thank you, the big balls in green and red were a gift from a friend who was moving from a house to a condo. Mr. HB and I purchased the silver ones that he hung on the rose arbour.

IG is such fun...it is quick and easy and completely random with the pictures that we all post...hope to see you there.

I have been following you for awhile...I think I discovered your blog through Sheila at Ephemera. We have only been putting up these large baubles in the garden for the past 2 years...always white fairy lights but that was it until recently.
