Sea Ray Adventures...and wildfires.

We went out on our SeaRay this past weekend and left the cats at home with a friend.
The forecast was for record high temperatures...and records were broken, we were glad that we didn't take them along as they would have been miserable in the heat.

OPI : "This colour is making waves."
Polka dot PJ's and our new nautical mat.

A trio of blues...

Breakfast is blue too.

Our wee Galley.

Ah...
it's Dusk at the Maple Bay Marina...
and we are finally cool.
Keeping hydrated was tough and we had to seek out shade from the mid day sun.

Taconite is the lovely Fantail Cruiser from the 1920's that you can see in the middle of this image
and to the right a tug that has been converted into a live aboard vessel.

Metal wall art on a house boat at the Marina.

In the afternoon...
the water was calm so we went out in our dingy for a ride to explore the cove.

Pretty orange Nasturtiums
I love the variegated leaves.

A wee bit of whimsy...
some one has been busy carving.

We had asparagus with our BBQ steaks, mushrooms and salad.
We went to bed early and had a sound sleep.
When we woke up there was a fire red sun, smoke in the air and ashes all over our boat.

There are quite a few wildfires burning out of control in our province and the wind has carried the ash and spread it all over the lower mainland and the south of Vancouver Island.
It feels very eerie...
there is a red glow in the sky and you can smell the smoke.

We stopped on the way home at Mill Bay Marina and had a bite of lunch.

This family of Canada Geese and a lone seagull greeted us...
you can see the strange colour of the sky.

Ferocious Forest fires have displaced many people who have had to flee from their homes...
it's very alarming and I can imagine how upset they must feel.
Many brave fire fighters are risking their lives to help get these wildfires under control.
Alaska and the Yukon have dispatched experienced firemen to help our Province.

Hope that you are safe and sound where ever you are...

OOTD ~ Sailor Style

I cobbled together a crazy sailor style outfit this morning...
it's a busy day of domestics here in The Humble Bungalow.

I've been doing laundry since about 8:30 am.
Eradicating dirt should appear on the top of my CV!

It's a Blue OOTD all the way down to the toes.
The Tommy Hilfiger watch is waterproof so good for actioning domestics or wearing on the boat.

This might be what Lisa calls "Tomboy Style."
Do you read Lisa's blog?
I do and did you know that I started blogging because of her?
She was super helpful and supportive and she really knows her way around the technical area of computing.
She knows a lot about the WASP way of life which I personally find fascinating...

These comfy GAP capri length sailor pants are so soft.
They must be as old as the hills...
or they've been laundered dozens if not hundreds of times...
well I am given to exaggerate a bit!

The striped top is the one I purchased at COS in The Marais district in Paris this May...
Paris, France I was there just over a month ago.

Here are some images captured from my trip...all themed Blues.

It's Father's Day on Sunday and I'll be remembering my Dad,
honouring my husband, the Father of my children
and son who is the father of two and soon to be 3.

Hope that you have a lovely weekend.
XO

I've got the blues...OOTD

Today I'm wearing a BOHO OOTD...
an asymmetrical tunic top in indigo and cobalt blues.

The top is a bit of a departure from my usual conservative classics but it's such a bright and energetic piece that when I put it on I feel instantly happy!
I love the power of colour.

There is black mesh at the neck and the bottom with a section of the hem gathered up on one side...
made by Papillon.

Yes my hair is wet but it is too hot to blow dry it this morning.
I snapped this photo to show a new CC cream that the gals at the Pharmasave told me about...

It's specifically made for those of us with rosacea.

I am so in love with my new Mulberry back pack bag.
Shopping and walking is so much easier and it's fashionable too...
it's smaller than my usual bags which makes my shoulders happy!

The Paris inspired red lipstick is getting lots of wear.
It's inexpensive, made by Maybelline, and the shade is called Pleasure Me Red!

I pulled out my sapphire ring when we took Mother out last Sunday for her birthday and I have been wearing it ever since...

Mother celebrated her birthday in style at The Empress Hotel's Bengal Lounge.
My sister and our spouses surprised her with a dinner in her honour...
it's not everyday that one turns 88.

I wore my Jones of NY wrap dress to dinner.

The jingle jangle of the bangles...

It's been a fairly quiet week so far.
The weather has been hot and I have been keeping the blinds closed to maintain the cool here in our Humble Bungalow.
I've been outdoors dead heading the roses like mad...they LOVE this hot weather!

I picked a bouquet of white Iceberg roses and placed them in the Vintage French pottery jug that I bought on my recent trip. They look lovely in our wee bathroom on the main floor.
So that about wraps it up for now...
our darling grand daughter turns 5 this weekend and I am wondering where the time has gone...
how can she be 5 already?

Hope your week is ticking along nicely...

A rhapsody in blue...OOTD

Blue and white are a complimentary pairing, indeed they are a happy marriage.
Antique Chinese and English porcelain come to mind as does the iconic classic Blue Willow patterns which were mass produced by so many companies over the years.

This beautiful planter was a gift from the son of Mrs. Plant,
she was a former owner and resident of The Humble Bungalow

this wee antique bowl is so thin you can almost see throught it...
I know nothing about it except to say that it called out to me when I was perusing the tables at an antue and collectible show.

I've collected these Ball Sealers for the past few years...
it's the soft shade of blue that attracts me to these jars.

Trees were painted cobalt blue in this downtown plaza...
I captured this image on a Seattle trip a few years ago.

The Chihuly Gardens in Seattle...
right below The Space Needle!
It's a wonderful place to visit and view many of Chihuly's glass masterpieces.

A gorgeous blue necklace at the jewelers in the lobby of The Empress Hotel.

Harumi Ota porcelain.
Harumi lives in Victoria and sells his work at The Eclectic Gallery and at The Moss Street Market.

Downtown Victoria sidewalk display

Looking out over the Strait of Juan de Fuca, Washington State is in the distance.

Wee heart shaped art glass paperweight....

Grape and wood hyacinths, a spring time bouquet in a matte white jug, a gift from my bestie.

Hydrangeas

White vintage compotes.

Blue hydrangeas

playing with paint...

Macarons at Bon Macaron on Broad Street in Victoria.

My favourite outfit of all time is a simple one...
Blue Jeans and a White top.
OOTD
accessorized simply with pearls and an armful of sterling bangles

Do you have a favourite outfit?
One that you feel totally at ease wearing and can see yourself taking it to a desert island with you?
Wendy McLeod MacKnight's recent post inspired me to write this one today...
go over and say Hi and please tell her that I sent you!

Thank you for stopping by....
