The blues...

I've been quietly collecting more blue items in my wardrobe...
it all started so innocently.

Blue jeans have always been a star performer in my wardrobe...
they are what I consider to be a serious workhorse and they have been in my closet since I was a teenager.

I have three pairs of blue jeans...all by NYDJ.

Slowly, over the past year, I have added these blue items:

a denim shirt - Ralph Lauren
a blue chambray shirt ~ Cailey 22
a pale blue tencel shirt - Lord and Taylor
a navy and white top -Saint James
a thrifted denim jacket - no name tag inside ?
two blue and white striped tops - Cupio and Antibes Blanc
two pairs of blue shoes - Jungla and Ecco

prescription glasses - Face a Face Paris

You can see the blues in the
centre of my wardrobe.

This is what the circa 1913 era closet looks like
its very small and not at all organized
currently on our list of future projects...
perhaps this fall or winter
it is part of the bedroom remodel that has been on our list for many years.
Our remodel list is getting smaller as the years buzz by...

Busy buzzing bees hard at work in the beautiful blue Agapanthus.

The Ralph Lauren denim shirt

Antibes Blanc linen top

No name denim jacket
white NYDJ jeans

I almost forgot about the blue patterned swimsuit!

The NYDJ boyfriend style jeans
are super comfy and great for the summer weather...
casual style dressing with a pop of red.

The blue and beige linen duvet cover will figure prominenlty in our remodelled bedroom as we plan to install white panelling and use blue accents.
Maybe we will get busy and organize something this Fall.

What have you introduced into your basic wardobe over the past year?
Are you playing it safe with colour or kicking it up a notch?

Hope that your week is off to a great start.

I have enjoyed adding some pastels to my wardrobe. I still wear my dark colored slacks, skirts, and shorts but now add a pastel top. I've also added a few jewel tone sheath dresses and they will work all seasons. Susan

I'm afraid my wardrobe is predominantly blue in summer. Blue, white, navy, grey. I add black for the winter. I love the blue duvet cover you showed a peek of - your bedroom will be a pretty and peaceful place.

I regret giving away my Ralph Lauren denim shirtdress. Don't know what possessed me, as it was a classic. I've replaced it with an linen medium indigo shirtdress from Everlane which has been great for the summer, but I sure miss that denim one for the fall.

I have two sets of blue and white sheets for summer. Blue has been one of my summer colours for a few years but this year I have introduced a bit of khaki and rose. It's fun to mix
a bit. Khaki, rose and navy with a bit of taupe work well for me right now.

Blues always, and I've added some pinks. But, I always have a blue and beige bedroom! So so calming. Looking forward to yours if you do it. You have some beautiful blues in your wardrobe.

I’ve been adding more blue in my wardrobe too this season. I’ve always been a fan of blue. I really like your new jean jacket. Can you tell me the brand of your red ballet flats? They look very comfy. Thanks!

Sounds like those pastels are a great way to add summer colour to your basic wardrobe. Whenever I hear the words sheath dresses I am reminded of Jackie Kennedy...she wore them a lot and always looked elegant.

Blues definitely suit you and are especially pretty with your blue eyes!

I have a Levi's denim dress that is so soft and easy to wear...I am so glad that I bought it as it can be worn all year long...maybe you can find another RL denim dress i saw some in the Spring but I already had the Levi's denim dress so I didn't need another one.
Linen is a wonderful summer weight fabric...I own several linen dresses and I don't mind the wrinkles!

Thank you Adrienne Its a cool top for hot days...

Your colouring lends itself to those pretty shades that you wear.
I bought a taupe linen jacket to wear with my white jeans and white dressy pants...I alos wore it with my NYDJ jeans...was not too sure if the colour would suit me but I have a floral summer weight scarf that has a lot of pink in it and some taupe so it really helps to make the jacket work with my skintone.

Blues would suit you and shades of pink with your silvery hair would be lovely together...My softer grey flecked hair colour has changed the shades that I used to wear...makes it easy to try some new and different colours.
When my hair was auburn I could wear olive greens and mustard yellows but not anymore!

The red ballet flats are by Joesph Siebel...they are super comfy and I love wearing red shoes! They brighten any day!

What a beautiful summer wardrobe.

Blue has always been my favorite color - so lots of blue for me with blue and white stripes often worn in the summer. I am anxious to see your bedroom redo whenever you get to it. I know very well about projects on the to do list for many years. Your plans sound right up my alley.

I am also slowly collecting blue items in my wardrobe. I have stopped dying my hair after chemotherapy hair growth and I realise that blue looks very nice with my silver hair and red lipstick.
I love those red flats.

Beautiful summer collection Leslie, easily adaptable for varying temps as you can wear layers :) My choice of clothes are very similar shades and style wise, blues, white, denim, chambray, stripes, checks, plain ... Interestingly the things I bought to add a "pop" of yellow/gold for the summer, I haven't worn yet. Possibly because we're travelling at the moment and I think everything else just works so well together and so easily :) and it is only June!
I'm not as disciplined as you when it comes to curating my wardrobe, something I really must do once I'm home ... no more procrastinating :)
I hope you're having a good week. Ive really enjoyed seeing the pics of your roses on IG.

It must be fabulous being able to wear your favourite colour...we were discussing the reno and tossed around the idea of Fall or Winter. I'd love to see this happen as the bedroom is not as lovely as it could be and so I rarely spend time in there except to sleep and it is one of the sunniest and brightest rooms in our bungalow.

I didn't know that you had chemotherapy...I hope that you are doing well and that your prognosisi is positive.
Your blogger profile is private so I have been unable to read more about you...not that I am being nosy, just curious to learn more, as you frequently comment here on the blog.
Blue and silver with red lipstick is a great combo!

They are quite a departure from mu usual shades...a bit of bling!

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

Thats exactly why I can wear the bluer shades now...its all about the tinsel hair!

Layering is a great way to wear items from season to season...I still buy a few things but usually something goes out when something new comes in...only so much space here in our tiny home!
Hope you are having a lovely holiday.

For years - and especially when working in an office - I wore mostly black, white & grey with pops of red dominating. But since I've retired I notice that more and more blue is creeping in and my plan is to gradually phase out the grey completely. Anything new purchased will be navy or blue and I'll add a bit more pink as an additional accent colour. I'm a "Winter" - dark hair, pale skin & dark blue eyes so pretty much any shade of blue suits me.
PS - your bathing suit is lovely!

My eye is automatically drawn to blue of all shades. I still love my favourite black and white but more blue is creeping in to my wardrobe. I have also discovered Joules for striped tops and dresses.

I love that you inserted more blue items into your basic wardrobe. And they are great classic pieces to more depths and dimensions to your basics. I've always been partial toward blue especially navy and chambray. Some of my old favorite pieces are chambray shirts and jean jackets by Ralph Lauren. If one's clothes could be considered as friends...these will be some of my best friends. Your beautiful blue agapanthus, how gorgeous!!! Amelia

Hi, Leslie! I have loved blue and white for so long...so classic. I think also I was influenced by my school uniform in elementary school. 😉 As usual, your choices are so nice. I was instantly drawn to that linen top. I have to be careful with denim shirts, although I always pick them up to try on when shopping. So many are a grayed blue, and I look better with more vibrant blues. My grays also have to be warm, which is a challenge.
Enjoy wearing that swimsuit...it is so pretty.

Sounds like we are on the same page with our new focus on colour in our wardrobe!
I don't have the blue eyes but I do have the grey tinged hair!

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

Blue and white look so fresh and crisp together....a classic and with a pop of red even better!

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

Joules make some fun things...I quite like their raincoats and colourful boots!
French striped tops by Saint James are expensive but well made and classic.

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

They are really comfy to wear and I have some in black that I layer under dresses and tunic tops.

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

Amelia I agree that our often worn denim pieces can become our wardrobe "best friends" Like a soft cashmere sweater they just get better with age.
I love agapanthus and have a white one as well but it does not stand out as much as the blue flower...that shade just pops and the bees love it.

I had a striped "Mary Poppins" dress in blue and white when I was in grade 6...
it was a favourite of mine and I actually wore it out from frequent wearings!
You must have a very trained eye for colour...I have been trying to get better by paying closer attention to the shades that work better with my colouring...I hope that one day I will immediately recognize the shades that suit me best.
