Tuesday Morning Tidbits....some better than others!

Just checking in to say good morning....

How's your week going so far?
My week is really busy...
filled with appointments.

We are thrilled with the recent acquisition of this lovely painting
 by the artist Kathy Leeds.

I have followed Kathy on Facebook and Instagram for many years.
When I learned that she had launched her website I zipped over and purchased this gorgeous painting of roses.

Many of you know how smitten I am with roses
so it was an easy and natural choice for me...
we have hung this in our Humble Bungalow living room adjacent to the chair where I sit every morning while I sip my cafe creme and read emails, IG and blog posts...
it will be much admired.

My eye glass prescription changed when I had my eyes examined last fall
I have been meaning to go and buy new glasses...
it has taken me a few months
but I finally went and ordered new glasses.
They should be ready in a couple of weeks...I chose a rather "edgy" stylish pair.

The progress on my latest scarf...

A reader on my IG post mentioned that this looked like a pizza slice.
I'd have to agree and I pointed out that it was caloire free!!!

A couple of years ago I suffered a frozen shoulder and I was miserable for several months as I endured limited movement and intense pain...
unfortunately the opposite shoulder has now started to freeze.
UGH!

Thankfully I know all the exercises that I need to do each day
and am off to massage therapy to see if we can keep it from completely freezing.
My massage therapist is amazing and I have every confidence that we will work on this together.
Wish me luck...I am going to need it!

What is on your agenda this week?

I had a frozen shoulder a few years ago, a sports physiotherapist sorted it out for me. Good luck with your treatment. I have painful shoulders at the moment, I am overdue for a back and shoulder massage. I’ve been out at my volunteer job today, then out with a friend on Friday. Hope you feel better soon.

I absolutely love the painting of roses. I knew it was painted by Kathy the minute I saw i!

So sorry to hear about your other shoulder. I've been there and it is not fun.

Good luck with the shoulder. I love your new painting. If I had the money, I would buy one of Kathryn Manry's water paintings. She lives on Quadra. I have overcome the problem of posting on your site by writing my post, pressing "preview" (not "publish"), entering my password and then pressing publish. It now works here but not on Dani BP's site. If I skip "preview"and just go right off to "publish", it just disappears. If Dani BP doesn't read this could you pass on the message that I am greatly enjoying her blog but my posts disappear? Much obliged. I have bad problems with my hands so I won't be taking knitting lessons. I have been enjoying the snow (except for shovelling) and watching the birds. Ann

Good luck with your shoulder! It's so important to maintain movement.
I need to get new glasses. You must show us your new ones--I could use some inspiration.

Ann I'm so sorry that's happening on my blog, I have no idea why. Your comments do show up in my email feed, but not in a consistent way from what you've told me. I did find a comment of yours this morning that I copied and pasted in. I'm still looking into it so please don't give up on me!xx

And Hostess, I'm so thrilled to see this painting in your beautiful bungalow! I love Kathy's art, she's so talented. What a perfect choice for you and your hubs, with your green thumbs for roses. Just lovely !!
Wishing you luck with your shoulder, I've been dealing with an injury myself, a seized neck that triggers terrible migraines, so I literally know your pain. Massage therapy is helping me immensely, and I hope for you it is the same. If you nip this in the bud hopefully you'll have control over it before it gets too serious. xx

I hope your shoulder recovers. Your painting will a bright reminder of roses during the darker days. I really like the colours in your scarf. What kind of frames did you get? I just found out that I have cataracts which is just one of those ageing things. Work and lunch with a friend this week.

That's so wonderful to hear that you could recognize my painting. Thanks Susan.

First of all...thank you so much for loving it and buying it. I love to know it's hanging in such a beautiful home and appreciated. It was one of my favorites and I'm so glad you have it.
I saw the pattern for the scarf and I think it'll be beautiful - gorgeous yarn.
Sorry about your shoulder.

I hope you can prevent further problems with your shoulder!
I am looking forward to seeing your new glasses. I think I am due for my exam, and am hoping I can get some new frames. When I was in Germany visiting my daughter and her family, I noticed that so many women my age sported really stylish glasses.
What a nice treat to have those roses to look at every morning while you gather yourself together to start the day. Enjoy!
I have a lunch with my cousins tomorrow. We try and do this annually, but have missed the past few years. We always go someplace yummy.😉
Hope your week goes well.

Your new painting is lovely. I can see why you enjoy it so. I'm so sorry about your shoulder issues. It's always something, isn't it? I hope it resolves more quickly than when you had the trouble with your other shoulder. Maybe getting right on it will do the trick! Scarf is looking great.

Oh, I hope you can nip the frozen shoulder in the bud. Being in pain is so wearying. Your new shawl colours are beautiful. I'll be heading to Kathy's website after this to see her paintings.

I LOVE your new painting. It's perfect for your home. I’m really fortunate living in a very artistic community to be able to be immersed in all types of art. Great choice. Kudos to the artist.
Look after your shoulder.....

I’ve been reading your blog since the last bout with frozen shoulder, which came shortly after I dealt with the same issue. At the time, I was aware of the possibility it could “recur” in the opposite shoulder. Last year I suspected it was starting in my opposite shoulder, so off I went to PT, and managed to prevent it. Or so I thought. This year it set in with a vengeance and I had to see the MD to start full on treatment before PT. The interesting thing is I went, and am going through, some stressful events prior to this full blown recurrence. I know you have been through a very difficult time with the loss of your mother and some other things recently. I have to wonder if on some level this stress has not played a roll in our mutual recurrence...I have been, and will continue to hold you in my thoughts for strength, peace and healing—now both physically and emotionally.

I tried physiotherapy last time that I had frozen shoulder and was not very impressed...it could have been the practitioner I saw and I did do the prescribed exercises but for pain management the massage therapist worked wonders.

Its a lovely painting and it brightens up my corner of the living room!
The shoulder will just have to heal...I want a speedy recovery though having been through this once before...as you know it gets so tedious!

Hope that you and Dani can d=sort out the publishing problems...
I would suggest that you sign in to your google account before trying to leave any comments...there seems to be a glitch when you have to go away from a blog to sign in and return...hope this helps.

I know that movement is key...and the reduced movement and pain have made me awar that this is the start of the freeze...so I am trying to be proactive.
I will share a picture of my new specs when I get them!

Kathy paints such beautiful images...I just love her new still life series.

The painting is brightening up a darker corner of our living room...I find myslef looking up to savour and soak in all its beauty!
Cataracts can be repaired these days and its good that you have caught them early...aren't we fortunate that the technology is available to help us with this issues?

Thank you for selling it to us!
The roses speak to me...I do so love the style in which you have painted them.
I went back to the Beehive to buy another skein of the yarn as I think it may need a wee bit more than I had on hand...and while the stafff were using the Swif to spin the wool into two balls I was perusing the wool and patterns.
I found a great pattern for a loose sweater by Churchmouse...it is called the simple Tee...I would make the shorter version with 3/4 sleeves in a cashmere silk and wool blend yarn..in a sofy grey...not finished the first project and already planning the next one! I feel like Woody Allen in that movie where he is on the street swilling woolite!!!

Gosh you and me both marmielu!
The frames I opted for are from Paris..."Face a Face" and they have a few extra details that make them look a wee bit more edgy.
My husband and I are meeting up with a couple of his cousins for lunch next week!! Hope that you enjoy your outing.

Well it does seem that there has been a bunch of things going on...I try to focus on the positive though and look on the bright side!

Hope that you like Kathy's website...she has some lovely paintings for sale.

I know what you mean Ali, as you live in an area where artists reside and there are so many wonderful galleries nearby...temptation at evey turn!

I am curious if stress has any correlation to frozen shoulder...the doctor that I saw last time said that it could be triggered by hormonal changes or a thyroid condition which I have had since about 1979...
Hope to get a jump start on treatment this time as I know what is happening...last time I was baffled until it completely froze!

Your new painting is lovely -- and just the ticket for getting through this rather gloomy January-February time. I hope your RMT helps loosen that shoulder and relieve some of your discomfort. Have you ever seen a Physiotherapist who does IMS (intra-muscular stimulation, done with very fine needles -- something like acupuncture)? I've found that therapy really helpful in the past, although I've so far avoided frozen shoulder (which sounds gruesome). But I'm a really big fan of massage therapy (my daughter's an RMT, so I should be ;-) as well...

All my knitter friends (and me when I'm in a knitting period) do that - dream about the next project while knitting one. I used to actually start a new project while in the midst of finishing one - and it was a bad idea!

The RMT that I see teaches at the Victoria Massage School...she has what I like to think of as "Magic Hands!" After one session I have noticed a dramatic improvement in my range of motion and ther is less pain...I am taking Aleve every night before bed to make sure that I am able to sleep. She did advise me of the IMS and mentioned that many of her clients find it effective...if my condition imrpoves with just massage and home exercises I may not need to try it but I am open to it if things deteriorate.
Have fun in Palm Springs!
