The sun is setting later and we have been fortunate with our weather lately...
as the sun has been out several days this week which lightens up my mood enormously and energizes me...making me more efficent in the home department.
Love the sliver of light shining through the front door
illuminating the orchids and making shadows dance on the wallpaper.
Bradbury and Bradbury heritage wallpaper in the arts and crafts style
hangs in our entry hall.
Looking towards the hall from the living room of The Humble Bungalow.
You may be able to see the wallpaper border at the top from this angle.
When the sun shines I like to get outdoors for my walks.
Emma Bridgewater has such an imagination...
I bought several of her shopping bags.
One I gave to a friend for a birthday...
it said Take Me To The Shops.
I'd never give this bag to a friend...this one is mine all mine!
I've culled some of my clothes...
again...
when one has a small wardrobe and closet the clothes get worn a LOT
the fabric of my frequently worn tops tends to pill and look yucky after a couple of seasons.
I wash then inside out and hang them to dry
but despite the gentle care
they still develop these nubby bits which I find unsightly...
I've switched up my red lipstick for a pinker shade.
L'Oreal # 580 Pink Peony
It feels lighter on these sunny days.

Has the weather lightened up in your patch of the woods?
Have you been curating your closet?
Whats new with you?

Have you considered shaving the pills? Many decades ago, a friend gave me a sweater shaver (along with a toaster--the quintessential wedding gift too-often given--it was a joke but ended up being the only toaster). I got a good laugh but eventually tried it...and liked it! Obviously it doesn't work forever--eventually, the sweater will wear itself away, but you might as well enjoy it without pilling in the meantime.
Haven’t visited your blog in a while and it is so reassuring to see pictures of your lovely house again! That pink lippie is very flattering with your coloring.

I love Pink Peony lipstick. I bought it on your recommendation and it's a winner. Your hair looks shorter - very becoming! I'm happy for the extra daylight, but can't say it's pepped me up - yet!
I have so enjoyed these brighter and longer days. My spirits lift and I find I have more energy. A lighter lipstick is a great nod to the season.
I'm always curating. I took a bag of clothes to the hospital auxiliary store this week. I just bought a pink lipstick called Pourquoi Pas? by Lancôme. It feels like pinkening time. I really like your wallpaper. The entry in our apartment needs freshening now. It has no natural light so I must turn on the overhead fixture when someone arrives. I would like to go richer than the current colour for a change. We've decorated in earth tones and I have no intention of redecorating at this stage. Back to school for the Lion Dance today.
Thanks for the lippy shade #, I can never choose when instore with so many choices. Love that pic of your face......skinny for spring!
Not yet. We will be in the thick of winter dressing for a while yet. The days are getting long though so, yay! This is just Part Two of the winter dressing season.
YES and YES!
Working on the GUEST ROOM NOW!!!!!!!!

I have a shaver that I use on sweaters but the tops that are pilling are much thinner weight fabric...light tees and tops...seems that this is a common complaint for many.
Thank you Jessica!
I just had my hair cut...it is quite short but it is simple and easy care.
We share the love of these lighter days...more time to enjoy our homes and gardens!
I wonder if you hung a mirror in your hall and placed a table with a lamp nearby that you would avoid the need to redecorate ? Your Lancome lippy sounds tres chic!
Gung Hay Fat Choy!
There are so many choices...I quite like experimenting with a new shade of lipstick. "Skinny for Spring" sounds like a lofty goal...I will never be skinny! But I do try to be mindful and walk regularly to help balance out my food intake...always a challenge.
Hope that you stay warm and cozy...
Love your new blouse. It’ll go right through until the fall. Just read what I wrote. That’s so far away, we haven’t left winter yet here.
I made the mistake of buying a darker lipstick. There was no sample except for a too light colour. I wore it twice to see if I was wrong. I wasn’t. No point wearing something that just doesn’t flatter my pale skin tones. Live and learn.
Summer in Australia - tons of light still . I love your new shorter hair and that pink lippie!
Still very cold, wet and windy here in my part of the UK but the days are getting longer with the odd burst of sunshine. Sadly still far too wet to get in to my garden but I live in the hope it will not be too long. There is a lot of tidying up to do. Winter dressing continues for a while. My wardrobe is another place that needs tidying and decluttering. This Winter seems to have been longer than usual but Spring is on its way.
I love your wallpaper - you've done a great job with your home. Very authentic to the architectural style. Love the pink lipstick too.
Yes, definitely lighter at the end of the day. Looks like Spring in Southern California. I fractured my foot so can only stand on one foot and that is with dificulty. I'm thinking of hiring amn organizer to come to my home and help me with my closet. I'll sit and she'll do the hard part. I figure I can try stuff on. This was something I planned on doing before this foot craziness. I've been reading a series of books you might enjoy or you might laugh at me. They are very soothing. Just what I need right now. it's the Mitford Series by Jan Karon. Yes, it is about a preacher in a small town in the mountains of North Carolina. And yes, there are scri[tures referred to. It's not my religion but it's delightful. It might be good for you now or you will laugh at me and say I have the worst taste in reading. But when your foot is fractured it works.I figure you've had a fractured heart and this might be soothing to you.
Have fun with your project!
I have made the same mistake myself...especially with lipstick. Thankfully our local pharmacy has testers and they have really knowledgeable staff on hand to help. You can always go to the make up counters of the larger department stores where they are happy to help you find the perfect shade...
Yes...I love peeking at your summer weather when we are in the thick of winter!! Such a welcome tonic on a rainy day!
Oh its far too wet here to potter in the garden too...mushy and muddy but the crocus and snowdrops are blooming and the daffodils are almost out!
The process of restoration has been a long process but it is so rewarding...we had a couple stop by and ask about our exterior paint colours as they are repainting their heritage listed home a few blocks away and so we gave them the information and invited them in for a a house tour...they were gushing about what we had done which made us realize that we now take all our efforts for granted...it was a nice reminder that we have come a long way!
Oh I saw that you had broken your foot...how terribly inconvenient, not to mention the discomfort. Reading will help you pass the time as you mend and as for the books if they lift your spirits there is no shame in reading them...when I am under the weather I look for light entertainment in books and movies...the silly rom coms are really a tonic. Wishing you a speedy recovery...
You've been busy-it is so good when one feels that it is the end of the winter and spring is coming. Days are longer here as well and I was bursting with optimism and enthusiasm on Friday but the weather has changed (as well as weather forecast)-it is raining,we will have snow this week again (to be fair-this is only the second week with real snow this winter but it will deteriorate all my plans! And optimism!)
I curate my closet two or three times a year, but the first time is usually in April, with sunny days, because I hang all the clothes on the balcony for a while and wash the closets and shelves with lavender water. I wash or get dry-cleaned my winter wardrobe and choose what gets in the closets again
When I'm under the weather, good mysteries or some light read are much needed and appreciated
I've read only the last comment-I'm so sorry to hear about the fracture and I wish the quick and completely recovery to Sandra
Your new lipstick is a beautiful colour and I'm sure it suits you excellent. It is always nice to see photos of your beautiful home
Dottoressa
Oh and it snowed overnight here at the higher elevations...we woke to ice and gusty winds...2 degrees...BRRR!
Our weather can be snowy up until the end of March...I am ready for the warmth of the sun and look forward to putting away my puffer coat, wool scarves and hats!
Using the lavender water to wash your closet sounds so lovely...I use lavender oil as a sleep aid as the scent is so calming...
Stay cozy Dottoressa!
Today's weather has been lovely, a little chilly but sunshine, I even heard some lawn mowers a few doors away! And it's still light at 5.30. I'm afraid I'm a hoarder with my clothes, I do try now and again.
Hoarders and purgers...its like spenders and savers!
We all have different styles and habits.
