White Wednesday and Breaking the "Rules"

The Fashion Police might consider citing me for this infraction....
I admit that I am breaking the rules...and do so with gay abandon!

Hint Hint...It's white Wednesday.

It's the rule about white...
are you familiar with that rule?

Hey Girlfriend...
these jeans are soooo comfy.
(they go with so many things that are hanging in my closet)

So why not wear white after Labour Day?
I have not retired these jeans to the "off season closet" just yet.

The COS striped Tee purchased in The Marais district of Paris.

New purchase from The Hudson's Bay
Style and Co.
Monoprix necklace from Paris.

Bianca Nygaard top
vintage coin necklace

Cloudveil Merino Tee and Zara shawl sweater vest
J Crew Venus Flytrap necklace

Eddie Bauer down vest and a basic white tee

Tweed jacket ~ Spenser Jeremy
Amalfi shoes
(a dressy affair)

same again but with Coach loafers.

Gap distressed denim jacket
Sperry Top Siders espadrilles

Silver is my current shade to accessorize these jeans...

Bangles ~ vintage, Tiffany, Birks, Boyd Bond, and artisan.

Vintage Belt

French Connection soft cozy grey top
it looks oversized but really is not baggy
the hem sits on the hips.

Worn with freshwater pearls

Stripes and white...
nautical and nice.

Love the weight and shape of this top.
It camouflages the midriff area which is not as toned as it was when I was younger!

Just saying that if this anemone can still bloom in October...
I can wear white jeans.

Hope that you are having a lovely week.

What fashion rules are you breaking?

I plan to wear my white jeans through fall and winter.:-) They are versatile and lighten up cool weather outfits. Wonderful pieces, all. I have that same COS top, just love it!

From Margie in Toronto - I had just read an article on this from The Vivienne Files and I think it looks great! All the tops that you have look great with them and offer so many options!

I wanted to do this - especially since our summer has hung in for so long but unfortunately my white jeans are capri length and I think that's just pushing it too far. Next summer I'll be sure to get a pair of ankle length jeans and wear them for as long as possible. I did check at The Bay last week to see if there were any on sale and they had some but all either too big or too long (I'm barely 5'2" and can only roll them so many times).

The old rule is no white shoes, before Memorial Day, or after Labour Day.
You can wear white clothing any time.
I broke the white shoes rule yesterday, when I wore my vintage 1966 go-go boots with the black Chanel suit I was married in, and a Karl Lagerfeld tee.
I figured I may as well take advantage while the sixties trend holds, as it may be the last chance I get to wear these boots.

I just can't do it! Here in Kentucky we are on the verge of getting frost! To where white pants just goes against everything I was taught :)

White is right any time of the year! Ever hear of "winter white clothing" and "paper white" narcissus flowers?

I wore my white jeans out to dinner last night here in Virginia. With a red top, Wallis navy and white stripe flowing cardi and freshwater pearls. Felt great and looking good for turning 60 next month!

I used to have a "winter white" wool coat. White is great at any time of year. You have a great selection of "tops". I've been on an "austerity kick" and I really need a couple of easy to wear attractive tunic tops. I just have to remember to "shop my closet" first.

In California we wear white as we please;). Your outfits are so cheery and comfortable and well-pulled together, I think Canada's going to have to follow your lead.

That's great Sue! I loved shopping in the COS shop in Paris! They have opened a store in Toronto so I am hoping that they move west...perhaps Vancouver or even better Victoria!

If you have a Gap store close by they make and sell an ankle length which is perfect for me and I am 5"1...you can order them online too. They have some of these Girlfriend jeans online right now in white.

Oh my you still have the go go boots! That's amazing...
You should do a post about this outfit!

I understand...

I have indeed!

Sounds like a wonderful combination...60 is such a fabulous age :-))

I am on a frugal path too...but I needed a couple of things to replace a few things that sadly had deteriorated from too much wear and washings.

Your climate sounds like an endless summer so it's natural that you would embrace white all year...you are having a heat wave too...hanging out by the pool to keep cool seems the thing to do these days, according to many blogs from California that I read.

Love your choice of tops for white jeans. I kept mine out this year, too. They look quite good with my grey and navy blue turtle neck sweaters.

Also, after seeing your vegetable choices for Thanksgiving, I went out and bought Ina Garten's cookbook. I have been looking for new ways to make vegetables and they looked amazing. Looking forward to trying a few out.

Hi Hostess, off topic but may I ask how you like you GE stove. I am considering one similar to yours. I understand some of the fans can force excessive air to cool...any input is appreciated...
Love the blog!
Thank you from Rita:)

I also transitioned from wearing gold jewelry at the beginning of summer, then wore both silver/gold together and now wearing silver. Silver seems to be a Fall/Winter metal with all the grey, navy and black colors We have had an unusually warm September and October with frost arriving tonight.

love your combos - thanks for posting to show how we all could shop our closets for new ideas

I hope you like her book...I watch her shows on You Tube too. She lives in a beautiful home and has a gorgeous garden.

Hi Rita,
I like the GE stove and best of al it has two ovens which is great when you are hosting a big dinner...like Thanksgiving or Christmas. The downside is that at high temperatures over 425 degrees the fans do come on...they are a bit noisy and once the oven cools they shut off. The elements on top have a variety of cooking sizes and ours came with a cast iron griddle that fits on top...I've only used it twice as we do not eat a lot of pancakes or bacon!

I have a few gold pieces too but I am reluctant to mix gold with the silver...gold is very warm and it does seem to fit better in the hot weather.

From Margie in Toronto - didn't think I'd lost enough weight to shop The Gap but I've just checked their sizing and I'm pleasantly surprised! I checked online for those white jeans but unfortunately none left in my size - but I will check out the stores next time I'm in a mall - thank you.

Lovely choice of tops to coordinate with your white Jeans Hostess! I love white jeans with a grey cashmere tunic or cape ... I think they can work well with the right tops in most weather except perhaps when it's wet. Nothing worse than white jeans with black splashes at the back! :)

Hi again! Thank you so much for replying to my question regarding your GE range! a friend of mine has the LG and doesn't like the cooling fan in the front which starts at 200 and is still on after turning off the range for another 40 minutes. Having dry eyes would make me sensitive to all of that blowing warm air. I like the look of the controls on the front for the electric style ranges. Thank you again. ps. love the outfit combos for fall.
Cheers from Rita

Loving your selection of tops. I really need to update mine. Both the French Connection grey and the Bianca Nygaard ones are beautiful. Must have a look round for similar. I've put my white jeans away but might just get them out again!!
