"Meow" Monday's Report...

Just a quick post to thank you all for your comments on the previous two Pepper Posts and to let you know that
Pepper is resting comfortably...

I am guardedly optimistic but I think we have turned the corner...

She must be feeling better as she is lying on her side,
before she was sitting up with a hunched back and looked uncomfortable.

If you look closely you'll see Pepper's paw is covering her eyes...
we both want to wipe these last few anxious days from our minds...
we've seen and been through enough already!

Walking has been rather wet these past few days...
the air fresh and cool but no wind to speak of, so it makes for a pleasant jaunt along the seafront.

The Fairfield Book Shop had this vintage book on display in the window.
Love the sweet illustration on the cover.

From Publishers Weekly
"First published in 1947, Pookie Puts the World Right by Ivy Wallace follows the titular bunny as he banishes Winter for blowing down trees and leaving several residents of Bluebell Wood homeless."

We could have used Pookie's help...

Chester has been very aware that Pepper has been out of sorts and has been very gentle not to instigate rambunctious play.

Fingers are crossed that we are out of the woods and that we can get back to what we like to think of is "normal"
two cats playing together happily
chasing pet mice around the house
eating cat food
(nothing non edible like string or elastic bands Pepper please!)
snoozing
purring
keeping the Hostess company
as she goes about her domestics...
greeting her at the door
when she comes home from her errands and her walks.

I'll be back soon...

This is very good news! My vet calls that hunched-back sitting pose the 'sick kitty position'. I hope all systems are now operating as they should be :)

Is the book store the one on Cook Street. My daughter loves the Pookie books, they are hard to find.

I really wish cats could talk so we could eliminate the guessing game...

Yes it is...I hope it is still there!

So glad to hear Pepper is getting better. It's terribly stressful when your pet is ill! Both my darn cats had blockages if you can believe it. Both a few years apart, ate something of foam material. One was something off a school project, the other a cabinet buffer or stopper. So crazy and expensive. Both are good now after surgeries though. If Pepper is acting normal I'm sure he is on the mend! By the way loved that Adam Gopnick book too. Be kind to yourself. I'd eat a few things too worrying about all that. x Kim

Crossed fingers that Pepper continues to improve. So worrying when pets are sick. You have my permission to eat a cookie if you need it.

So glad to hear that Pepper is improving. Hope she gets better every day!

Oh Leslie, I'm so happy that our precious Pepper is "turning the corner" . Kitties do like to eat the dardest things !! I know you are watching her progress to ward good heath.
But it is such a frightening thing.
Love to you both.

Happy to hear that Pepper is feeling more peppy! She looks happy. I still have my copy of "Pookie and the Swallows" from my childhood - that brings back many fond memories.

So hoping your dear Pepper is on the mend! Not familiar with the Pookie books, but will investigate. A dear friend who left us much too soon always called her close friends, "Pookie." What a lovely reminder of her... Must find a copy of your wonderful book share! Smiles...Susan

Thank heavens for Pepper! Hope all continues well -- and that she learns not to eat whatever it was she ate (fat chance, LOL). I'm most afraid of dental floss, as it can be deadly for cats, but flushing it after use takes care of that.

I'm so glad Pepper is feeling a bit better. Thank you for the update, Hostess.

So pleased Pepper is on the mend. Children and cats! How they tug at our heart strings.

I'm very glad to hear Pepper is doing better. It's so upsetting when our furry loves are suffering.

Great to hear the recovery process is happening for Pepper. I have that book! It's old and ragged and tucked away in storage somewhere. Seeing it here brings back fond memories of reading it as a bed time story. Have you noticed the blooming rhodies and cherry blossoms on your walks? I can't believe how early they are!

Thank you for sharing the good news about Pepper. My fingers are crossed too! How sweet that Chester senses that Pepper needs to be treated gently. Our Westie had similar symptoms several years ago. After many tests and a lot of money, he regurgitated a small soft plastic suction cup I had used to hang a wreath from the window! Being clear, it never showed up on x-rays or ultra sound. And don't feel too guilty about the treats. We need to soothe ourselves during a crisis. Take care.

I'm glad that Pepper is better. I've never seen a cat that couldn't sniff out a rubber band, twist tie, or a piece of string. I don't know what the attraction is. My Gracie wants to chew on plastic bags of all things.

This is good news Hostess. I know you are feeling better now that this storm has apparently passed. Thank goodness.

So glad Pepper is feeling better. Hope your guarded optimism proves to be well placed and that she is back to her old self real soon.

Read the report on Pepper this morning, but couldn't comment? Glad I can now, and hope he's still doing well.

Oh, I'm so relieved Pepper is on the mend! I know what a worry it is when our little pets are not well and this whole business of 'what did they swallow' is dreadful. Finding any evidence impossible. I don't remember the Pookie books but one that puts the world right seems like the perfect read. I just love the cover. Wishing you and Pepper a calm night.

Good news. Pepper looks so sweet sleeping there. What an ordeal for you.

So glad to hear Pepper is feeling better (as are you I'm sure). It is always tough to have a sick pet.

I'm so happy to read this good news about Pepper!
Cats have backward facing barbs on their tongues;making them are unable to spit out things, that catch on those barbs. That's why they end up ingesting things like yarn, string, and dental floss.

Yay Pepper! I'm thrilled she's better. If she's out of that 'sick kitty' hunch, and she's eating...I'd say all is well...or at least, on the way to be!

Oh my! I have been away from my laptop for a week and I missed this! I'm so happy that Pepper is doing better. What a worry a sick pet is! ((Hostess)) and ((Pepper)) (Virtual hugs) When our cat was ill (a new sensitivity to grain in her food) it was a very anxious time. Hope this is now behind you.

I am so glad that Pepper is starting to feel better. She looks so sweet with her paw over her face. It is such a big worry when our furry family members are sick.

Oh good. Popped in specifically to find out how Pepper was doing. So glad that things seem more optimistic now. My Milo used to love to chew rubber bands or ponytail elastics...he even chewed thru a string bikini once. I became MUCH tidier after that one! Hope your days are stress free, and, at least for now, a little sunnier. Today's been lovely here on the mainland. x
