Dear Readers....
I have been totally immersed in preparing our Humble Bungalow Garden for the Annual Hospice Teeny Tiny Garden Tour...that is why I have not been posting.
It is for a good cause...
My husband and I have been devoting most of our waking hours to get ready for this upcoming garden tour. This is our first experience with a Garden Tour and we are doing it in memory of my beloved mom. She spent her last days in our local Hospice and the staff were amazing...kind and considerate and so supportive of all of us.
We heard that 650 tickets were sold!!!
I plan to give away one of my "mud pie" paintings...no need to donate but if you are on the tour please feel free to pop in a toonie...and enter the draw.
Good Luck !
I am feeling rather knackered tonight so will just add some photos...
Constance Spry Rose
Climbing Rose Graham Thomas
A struggling Limelight Hydrangea planted in a pot...
fingers crossed it gets better!
Green grass and a huge Hosta!!
Candlestick Primulas...
In the "new bed" last year we dug up and planted a new bed...
10 feet by 4 feet...
I dug it up when I had my broken ankle.
Dedicated gardeners might be able to relate..
NEEDS MUST :-))
Two chairs to sit in which I think we need to sit in soon...
I'd like a cold icy Gin and Tonic...
maybe on Monday
(after the tour?)
Back patio near the basement door...lots happening here...
so much more than meets the eye!
Lewissia
Red Geraniums
the hummingbirds love these.
They have been buzzing by us each day that we have been working in the garden.
Perhaps they are cheering us on?
So many roses here in The Humble Bungalow!
We counted 30 at one time but we recently lost a few so perhaps we have 25 now?
Sunday is the day...
Big green glass Italian bottle...hidden among the plants.
Do you think people will see it?
The potting table...
my "work" area.
Roses growing above the raised beds...
Don't poke your eye out when gardening...
pop a pot on top of the bamboo stake.
Clematis atop of the pride of London ground cover...
coral bells and to the left a day lily.
If you purchased tickets for this worthy event
and are coming to The Humble Bungalow Garden
PLEASE say hello...
I would like to meet you ALL!
My MOM would be so excited if she were still here...
Thank you to all the dedicated nurses and doctors who help us everyday.
Best to all of you and thank you for stopping by to read my post.

What a beautiful garden you have I’m sure all your visitors will say the same. A lovely tribute in memory of your mom. Have a great day tomorrow, Vicki
What a perfect way to honour your Mom , Leslie. So many extra hours in the garden and it is filled with such beauty. You’ll soon be able to put your feet up in those lovely chairs and enjoy your garden and the daily changes that nature brings. The green glass container such an interesting shape and accent. Thank you for opening your garden and looking forward to seeing you on Sunday. 🌹💐🥀🏵️
Beautiful Leslie!
What a fabulous way to honor your mother's memory. Your garden is beautiful and Hospice is such a great cause - well done, YOU!
Such good work! Looks like you are ready!
So lovely! You and your husband have created a beautiful garden to honor your Mom. She and the hummingbirds are beaming at all your hard work. And for such a graceful cause. My best to you on the tour tomorrow! Cheers to icy cold gin & tonics!
wonderful garden and excellent (hard!) work. People will really enjoy your space, have no fear.
Thank you Leslie for this on line tour of your lovely garden. You and your “Mister” have provided such a delightful array of plantings and a beautiful way to honor your mother. I hope you get a lot of visitors. Enjoy that Gin and Tonic!

Very impressive! The couple that gardens together ... is an inspiration. Well done!
Just lovely. Wish I could be there to see it in person - and meet you, of course!
Thank you Vicki!
We've been out there most of the day today...it isn't perfect but we are as ready as we could ever be!! See you tomorrow!
Thank you!!
I know that many people love this tour because the gardens tend to be smaller and one can get a few ideas to use in their own gardens...it would have been mom's 98th birthday today June 7th
After another blitz today we are as ready as we can possibly be...it should be great fun tomorrow!!
Deanna...gardens evolve over time and we have been here for over 40 years so it has changed a lot. I can almost taste that G&T!!!
I have to remind myself that we are not landscapers, more like dreamers trying to create a beautiful garden on a smaller scale in a limited space. Can't quite imagine having 650 people here...they won't all come at once as there are 10 gardens on the tour...time will tell :-))
Joan S...thank you...we'll be busy while the visitors are here. Should be FUN!
Well we do try to work well together, often there are compromises!! The garden was my vision and now that my husband has retired he has done the lion's share of the work!
Thank you Margaret :-))
Perhaps our paths will cross one day?
In the meantime I will post more photos...
It’s a beautiful relatable garden..enjoy your day!
Your garden is just gorgeous - you can see all the hard work that went into it. Good luck with the tour and so wonderful - what a worthy cause. Your mom will be proud.
An amazing effort and all for such a great cause. Your dear mum will be smiling down on you both x
I hope all went well today! Your garden is beautiful. The foxglove in the photos is the prettiest I’ve ever seen!
Everything looks lovely! Hope you had fun, and had a nice sit in the garden today!💕
We were so surprised by the positive comments and felt that the visitors really enjoyed their time here!
Miss Merry...we had such a positive day!! OVer 600 people came through the garden...Mom would definitely have been proud.
Colleen...I felt very she was close with our garden on show for Hospice. XO
We have a riot of foxgloves right now...our darling daughter took a video of a hummingbird that was up inside the flowers!!
Today was a much quietrer day...yoga, a new book and I read on the porch in the shade then we had friends over for a happy hour on the sun deck.
How lovely of you to give back to the hospice and open your garden for the tour! I hope it went well! Your garden is gorgeous!
Oh, I had so hoped to join! The garden looks lovely and thrilled to see Lewisia which was a new discovery for me (Market Garden!) this year. So glad all went well and that the garden is thriving. I am sure all enjoyed and what a lovely way to feel close to mom. Thanks for giving so much in this world. It is truly better for your presence! (Your "stalker" from last year's garden tour--easy to recognize you in your wonderful straw hat! :)
Thank you Sheila...the weather was amazing and the visitors were so enthusiastic! It was a well run fundraiser and we loved every minute of it!!
Oh I LOVE my old hat!!!
Lewisia is a stunner...I stood at the garden centre in front of the displays and hummed and hawed for quite awhile...I could have purchased one in every colour!!
I remember you :-)) If you ever want to pop by sometime casually and see the garden just message me...it might not be in as tip top shape as it was on Sunday but the offer is open.
Your garden is absolutely gorgeous, and I wish I didn't live 14,000 miles away and could come and see it in person! It will be a wonderful day and a lucky winner will be very happy with the painting. Constance Spry Rose is perfection. Have a really successful and wonderful Open garden day.
Patricia it would be fun to meet up after all these years of friendship on our blogs!! The day was amazing...the volunteers knew exactly what they were supposed to do and there were master gardeners on hand in the back yard to answer any questions...all my husband and i had to do was relax and be as social as we wanted to be. Over 600 guests in 7 hours is quite a challenge but it was a LOT of fun.
