50 Year Anniversary Getaway...

We celebrated our 50th Wedding  Anniversary on July 20th.
We thought about going on another cruise to Alaska but decided on Point No Point.

Point No Point Resort is a quiet place for a getaway.

They have numerous small log cabins and a couple of houses to rent.
The resort was started in 1952 and is almost completely offline...
No cell coverage and there is now wifi in the area by the office.
A former "pay phone" outside the office is FREE for local calls to Sooke.

We holidayed here every year until we purchased the quarter share in the cottage.
Many memories of relaxing getaways and amazing meals were brought back!

The restaurant serves fabulous food and is currently open Thursday through Monday.

We arrived prior to the 4:30 check in so we took advantage of the Happy Hour

A bowl full of baby clams in a delicious broth and a glass of wine.
Expansive and scenic ocean views from our table next to the window.

Cozy one room cabin, rustic style furnishings and a hot tub on the deck.

Wood burning fireplace, a small kitchen area, and a full bathroom.

Views to Washington State

Tide went way out in the early mornings...sandy beach waiting for beach combing!

The Beach House has a covered area with a fire pit
perfect for roasting marshmallows or Smores.

Lovely secluded cove

My walking stick and the Red Chairs :-))

Some of the Sea Glass that I found on the beaches.

Stellar's Jay landing on the railing of the deck...a foggy morning.

The fog was cool and so I decided to make soup for lunch.
I did not expect to be making soup and had to improvise!

~ Smoked Salmon Chowder ~
Saute: 1 large peeled and cubed carrot,
2 diced peeled potatoes in butter
( I had no oil)
Add 2 cups of water
1 cup small pieces of candied smoked salmon
simmer until veggies are soft
then add 1 cup creamo

Salt and Pepper to taste.

It was surprisingly good!

Holiday and Beach themed books are on my radar....

Limelight Hydrangeas are in full Bloom!
A Welcome Home Surprise

Patio views in The Humble Bungalow Garden.

Our daughter gave us a gift package to take with us to Point No Point.
Inside were some tasty treats and a lovely linen tea towel,
a vintage heart shaped candle holder
and
this vintage paper weight.

I had mentioned that I really liked it when she posted it on her Instagram.
She set it aside and gave it to us!

A good friend gave us wine.
another couple gave us a gift card for the local garden centre.
Our long time friends
hosted an al fresco dinner
and
gave us a lavender wand
and
a small blue and white dish decorated with fish.

Today...
We are busy in the garden...
as we have lots to catch up on since we were away.

Your Anniversary get-away sounded delightful, one day we may get there. I particularly love the hanging circle of the stained glass.

What a perfect way to celebrate your 50 years together! Aren't we lucky to be enjoying such good partnerships still?! -- (I find it hard to believe that much time has passed, don't you?)

What a wonderful getaway to celebrate your 50th. may there be many more. We have our 54th coming up in August. Not sure what we will do yet as my husband has some medical issues that need attention.

Sonya ~ Was great to go away somewhere to celebrate...Point No Point is very relaxing.

Jeannine ~ The blog is a fun hobby and I am surprised that I still have things to say :-)) Good to know that you enjoy the pictures and blog...you have been following along for quite a while now...thank you for your kind words.

Kathryn P ~ 50 years married is definitely a milestone event! We had to do something fun to mark the occasion.

Colleen ~ Point No Point is definitely worth a visit. Hope you do get a chance to stay there sometime.

Materfamilias ~ We are very fortunate to be celebrating this 50th...there are always new adventures ahead which keeps married life interesting. The time has flown by rapidly...I feel now that we are both retired that we are savouring the slower daily pace.

Tahoe Girl ~ 54 years next month! Happy Anniversary and I hope that you enjoy your special day.

Happy Anniversary and Congrats on 50 years together! My hubby and I will celebrate our 50th on August 10 this year! We will be camping in a beautiful location about 3 hrs from us, as camping is a relatively new fun activity for us! Always enjoy your ocean and beach photos as well as your garden. My garden is exploding right now, it's a great year for them!

A perfect Anniversary celebration, thank you for sharing your getaway. You must have the world’s largest sea glass collection, all gorgeous pieces. I’m a California girl but enjoy your island hopping adventures.

Christy ~ Thank you! We always have celebrated our anniversaries...even when we had very little money...I made us a special dinner and we would share wine...marking these annual events has made us appreciate our dedication to each other.

Vicki ~ Point No Point is a very special place. It has been our favourite "off the water" getaway for many decades...we were boaters for most of our anniversaries so we used to come in the winter.

MGA ~ Happy Anniversary and hope the camping is FUN! The hot weather and lack of rain in our garden has stalled the roses...there are a few reblooming which is lovely. THe Hydrangeas are ALL blooming! Such a lush time of year...Enjoy your week :-))

Joan S ~ I have MANY jars of sea glass! I sold a few to a vintage dealer...she had an artist ask her for some!! So maybe not the BIGGEST collection :-))

KSL ~ We are creatures of habit...once we find a gem we return many times! I like the familiarity too...making memories. We saw OJAI featured on Erin French's Getting Lost series on the TV a few nights ago...it looks very lush...lots of groves! Think you live in a beautiful and idyllic place.

Happy 50th, Lesley! I love the paperweight - so pretty! - and seeing the views and cabin at PNP. I have never been there - lived in Vic all my life, never ventured very far.

Frances Ray ~ Thank you :-))

Sheila ~ If you ever want a quiet getaway in nature, Point No Point is well worth the drive. The scenery is stunning.

Janet Higgs ~ Thank you so much Janet. I think we need to celebrate these special occasions...and the big number just felt like it deserved a bit more than a dinner out!
