Sublime weather and an OOTD

Rhubarb Spritzer

The weather has been sublime...
sunny and warm and a gentle breeze.
I've been wearing straw hats and sunglasses on my walks.

Last Saturday Mr. HB and I went out to lunch and sat on a waterfront patio.
I had a pink gin with elderflower, citrus and rhubarb syrup.
It was so delicious and refreshing.
I ordered a Weight Watcher friendly salad with arugula, grapefruit and beets.

OOTD

I wore a black cool Cut Loose top with capri tights and my red ballet flats.
I popped on this fun artisan designed necklace that I purchased several years ago...
I just wish that I could remember the name of the artist.

After lunch
we relaxed on our deck.

Chester kept us company.
He and Pepper are "indoor" cats but we allow them to come out on the deck when we are able to supervise them so that they do not escape!

This book is so atmospheric...

it is set in 1580 and Maggie O'Farrell captures the scenes with a deft insight.
I am savouring the chapters, reading slower, so that I can immerse myself in the era.
Although I am not finished the book...
I can highly recommend it to you.

Auriculas in a small pot on the porch...
I love these pretty little plants.

BTW
Counting Weight Watcher Points
has helped me lose 13.5 pounds since mid January.
Walking 5 km a day and frequently getting 10,000 steps
makes me feel so much better about my health.

I am stronger and can see the results of the weight loss.
I am by no means slim, but I do feel like I am moving in the right direction.

Hope that you are feeling good.
Perhaps you've been one of the lucky ones and have had your vaccination.

What's new with you?
Please leave a comment if you have the time or the inclination.

Thank you for stopping by The Humble Bungalow Blog.

Long time follower, first time commenting. I love the tone of your blog - very gentle with your beautiful photos and book recommendations. That drink and salad both look perfect for spring/summer. Good for you on your success with WW - I am a lifetime (somewhat lapsed) member, but need to re-focus my attention on healthy eating.

Congratulations on the weight loss! Your food always looks delicious. I have that book on order from the library - there's a very long waitlist. Isn't this weather gorgeous? I've been out working in the garden and walking, too.

That salad looks delicious! Congratulations on your perseverance. I've just started one-on-one training at our community centre. I'm getting my vaccine this afternoon. Such lovely warm temperatures for April! You might enjoy reading The Brideship Wife by Leslie Howard. Did you know that there were bride ships sent to Victoria? The young women were displayed at the Inner Harbour. I wonder if any of the wives in Ross Bay Cemetery arrived this way.

Thank you Lorrie. Covid cooking had a negative affect on my weight gain but now I am taking back control and winning at losing!
Our weather has been so fabulous...we are in for some rain which our gardens need. Enjoy this last bit of sunshine.

Yes I knew about the local brideships...it was very common for local men to marry these newcomers. One on One training sounds safe and you'll get more attention and focused exercises that will help you tone up. Hope you are happy with results for your efforts.
Hooray for you getting the vaccination...my husband gets his tomorrow and I am getting mine next week!

Progress is slow but I am seeing positive results. Good to be able to see rewards for my efforts...and really it is not that difficult.
Take care and stay safe Jeannine

Hi Beth,
Congratulations on your vaccinations! We are so close to getting our first shots. Am keeping my fingers crossed that our number of active cases will slow down. We have had a spike since Spring Break. I am eager to say farewell to the pandemic...and return to being social and gathering with friends and family again.
Take care
