Fall is Here! ~ Hello Eileen Fisher

Fall has arrived here in the Pacific Northwest...
we wake to a heavy dew and a chill in the air.
The sun and rain alternate and the winds blow...

The limelight hydrangeas are turning pink...they do this every Fall.

Peeling bark making way for new growth.

The muted tones of our Humble Bungalow glow when the lights are turned on...
our home is not very well insulated and we have single paned windows so I need to wear layers to keep warm.
Socks, slippers, sweaters and vests are my go to chill chasers.

On the seafront the winds can be fierce...

the views spectacular

especially when bathed under the shining sun.

Time to pull out the down vests and Barbour jackets.
Cozy cashmere and woolly scarves.

I'm wearing a longer wool cardigan from Eileen Fisher...
it's not brand new, it is second hand.
But  can double as a jacket or a coat on a mild day.
I do love a classic and a bargain.
Eileen Fisher makes my kind of clothing...
when I head off to Vancouver I plan to go to the South Granville location and shop!
I'll also be heading to the newly opened Nordstroms store downtown.

No embellishments so I can accessorize as I see fit.

Charcoal grey...will go with everything.

Yes ~ it's coming home with me!
I haven't got a lot of things on my list for Fall...
lingerie is at the top and it's a "need" not a want.

Do yourself a favour...
if you haven't read this charming book
put it on your list!

Hope that your week is ticking along nicely.

Perhaps you know someone who needs cheering up?
How about taking them a bunch of flowers?
A cheery bouquet is such a mood lifter.

Cheerio for now...
Hostess

I wish spring would arrive here. It's unseasonal cold and were all sick of it. Walking I've even worn long sleeves so unlike me. I'm cold at the moment and can't wait to light the heater.
The cardigan looks good. I too need to get out and do some shopping lingerie is a need on my list and a hat for the sun. May have to buy that book I'm in need of a good read.

Do you have "Nordstrom Rack" in Canada? I have gotten great French lingerie at a discount at "The Rack"; my favorites are the lacey bras and panties by "Simone Perele" and "Chantelle"! Also, you'll need some warmer footwear, socks and boots. "The Rack" has SmartWool socks and a good selection of boots to keep your feet warm!!

Oh your new sweater looks both elegant and cozy. A rare combination! I love limelight seven they are fresh and new, but they are my favorite when they are rosy like this. Enjoy fall!

Lucky you to find a beautiful EF cardi second hand. EF is seldom-sighted on the second-hand market around here.

Those hydrangeas are beautiful! That is my favorite flower....my grandmother had them all along the front of her home. They bring me sweet memories.
I enjoy you book recommendations, and have added that to my ever growing library list. Thanks! Enjoy Autumn!

I hope Spring will be a welcome tonic to the cold weather you've been experiencing...I love Spring as it feels like a time of renewal.

I love Chantelle lingerie...I have a chocolate brown and pink bra and pantie set...very pretty and great quality...Nordstrom just opened their first international store in Vancouver which is a 2 hour ferry ride away...I am not sure if they will have a Rack store or not...we are going to be visiting Seattle in the new year so I will shop there when we visit...until then I will have to pay full price and shop in a couple of our better lingerie shops in town. Quality lingerie like Chantelle is expensive here in town.

I have embarked on some indoor Fall activities...taking a course in MahJongg and returning to weekly bridge at Goward House with the ladies! Raking leaves will be on my agenda soon.

It's unusual to find her pieces second hand here as well...I think I hit the jack pot!

Great find on the sweater! That one will be a workhorse in your wardrobe. I love your seaside pictures, so lovely. Our weather is still quite summery, and fall probably still weeks away.

Beautiful hydrangeas! Mine have not been very good this year. All leaf and very few flowers. Loved that book. If you liked it you may enjoy The Red Notebook by Antoine Laurain if you have not already read it. A delightful short read.

Such beautiful seaside! Windy yes, but cozy inside your lovely bungalow. Slippers, sweaters, socks....some of my favorite things. And how could I have not known the name of those fabulous green hydrangeas? But now I do!

I'm reading The Little Paris Bookshop and really enjoying it. Nina George has a way with words...

I'll be visiting Vancouver in early October. Can you provide the address for the Eileen Fisher store in South Granville? With regards and thanks,

Love the sweater, very versatile. Great pick. I love the jeans you are wearing too, what brand are they?

The sweater is a great find and sure to be a workhorse in your wardrobe. Things are definitely cooling down. The book sounds like a fun one to read.

Did you find that cardigan at ALa Mode? She often has Eileen Fisher things.

I found the EF sweater at our local Value Village store...I know that Alexa carries Eileen Fisher and I have purchased a couple of pieces from her shop. She's my go to consignment shop!

Thank you une femme...I love seeing your EF posts.
I wish we had an EF shop here in town...I know that I'd be wearing many more of her garments if that were the case.

The Red Notebook was a sweet little book...I liked it and read it in a couple of afternoons while sipping Mariage Freres tea!

I know that it was translated from French to English and wonder how much leeway the translators are allowed...still it's a beautiful story.

I just googled it for you...2721 Granville Street.
There are lots of lovely shops on South Granville...among them my favourites are Anthropologie, Diane's Lingerie, Meinhardts and West Elm, and after shopping you might enjoy a delicious lunch at Vi's casual restaurant Rangoli just around the corner from S. Granville on 1488 West 11th.

You might be surprised...g21 from Walmart! (Under $20!) Skinny jeans in black...they are every bit as nice as my Banana Republic jeans. I like mixing high and low cost items together.

There is also a lot of EF on eBay.

Read The Red Notebook last month and just finished The Little Paris Bookshop yesterday. Makes me wants to cruise through France on a barge.

If you don't mind, what brand are the shoes you're wearing? I've been looking for a good looking "comfort" shoe like that one. Is it Clark's?

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

They are Clarks! I bought them for my trip to France as they were basic and comfortable with good support for all the hours of walking in Paris. Hope you find your shoes!
