Magnificent colourful display at The Market Garden in Victoria.
The shop is quite unique and has many wonderful items from around the Globe.
As soon as you enter the front door you are totally transported...
it feels very European.
The displays are works of art.
I love to shop here and I never EVER leave empty handed!
Mr. HB is busy harvesting his home grown tomatoes...
so sweet and flavourful.
He grows some varieties in his greenhouse,
the larger ones are grown in big pots outdoors.
These peppers should be yummy...
We've had a bumper crop of cucumbers this summer.
Eating a colourful variety of fruits and veggies is good for our health.
Paying extra attention to my consumption of food these days.
Particularly my food choices.
With osteoarthritis and a future hip replacement
I am working on eliminating inflammatory foods.
They seem to exacerbate my pain.
I don't like to use aspirin or Tylenol on a regular basis.
Bought a stationary bike as per my surgeon's instructions.
Am riding 30 minutes everyday.
He told me that the fitter I am before the surgery means a faster recovery.
I pop my laptop on the stand and watch while pedalling.
It helps to keep my mind occupied while I am working out!
Lot's going on here with my decluttering too...
free stuff on the boulevard
things to the charity shops and a few better vintage items sold to a local shop.
The limelight hydrangeas are changing their colours for the season.
The rose shade adds interest and depth.
Most of the blooms will stay on the plants to over winter for the pollinators.
I've dried a bunch already and have them on display on the porch.
Most of those are a sepia shade...
Alum is supposed to help the hydrangeas keep their colour and form.
I dipped the stems in the powder and popped them in an inch of water...
fingers crossed.
Orange is a colour that I associate with October...
leaves change their colour
festive pumpkins grow.
There is so much beauty in nature during Autumn...
it is so wonderful to be outdoors breathing the crisp fresh air.
I've been foraging outdoors in our garden.
Need to take a walk to the local cemetery where large Pine and Fir cones are found.
Where the leaves have fallen and generously carpet the paths...
I might hear an Owl or see the local Deer.
Perhaps I will visit the family graves.
Thanksgiving is almost here in Canada...
we'll be celebrating with two dinners.
One with our son, girlfriend, and the grandchildren.
Another with our daughter and her husband.
Feeling grateful for our family.
There is so much to be thankful for...
Well that's it for now...
hopefully you'll stay tuned for another post.
I appreciate you popping by The Humble Bungalow Blog!

I remember our Biology teacher telling us to have as many colours on our plates as we could. Seems the science was right.
Happy thanksgiving!
The markets are full of such wonderful produce these days. I want to cook it all! We will be celebrating with our gang of 13 plus another couple this afternoon at our daughter's home. I'm reading blogs in between making pumpkin pies and sweet potatoes. Happy Thanksgiving, Leslie!
Loved this, thank you
Always staying tuned for another post! Orange is the color of October for me as well.
Wise words from your teacher...
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family :-))
I've been buying more root vegetables and squashes...roasting some of them and making soups. I love tha cooler weather menus. Happy Thanksgiving Lorrie.
XO
My pleasure...take care.
You are a great supporter Jeannine and I appreciate your staying tuned :-)) Enjoy the October sights and sounds...Autumn can be so beautiful.
We don't celebrate Thanksgiving in NZ, but most of the shops now have a range of Christmas goodies to tempt us. I try not to impulse buy, and shop instead at local markets/ fairs and op shops. Our spring flowers and blossoms are so pretty, just as your autumn colours are. Wishing you the happiest of weeks .
Happy Thanksgiving 🦃 Vicki
As always, a lovely post. October is a favorite month as the leaves begin to turn. It’s also my birthday month so it is a double delight.
Friends just returned from Victoria and praised the beauty and cleanliness of the City and the kindness of the people. Just as I remember my visit there.
Enjoy both of your Thanksgiving gatherings, I am grateful you continue your fine blog.

I had a knee replacement in July and can support your theory that getting stronger prior to surgery will greatly assist in your recovery. I waited a long time for surgery and used that time to really hit the gym and work on my leg strength. 12 weeks out from surgery I am in Japan touring around and really only using my cane for balance when I am tired. Work consistently and you will be rewarded - maybe consider a consult with a physio for recommendations on exercises to work on. Good luck!
My husband had a hip replacement recently. No pain, only tylenol and advil two days after surgery. Walking up the stairs and around the block in week one. Stopped using the walker after less than a week. It’s truly amazing!
Two hip replacements here, do the pre-surgery exercises faithfully. Plenty of protein and calcium post operation. Take the pain medication around the clock the first four days. Be good to yourself and elevate your feet! You got this!!
I see there are lots of Christmas things in our local shops too!!
Shopping locally and at farmer's markets is such an enjoyable way to buy things...chatting with the vendors...almost like shopping in France :-))
Thank you Vicki...hope all is well with you.
Joan, I hope that you have a lovely birthday...good to hear that your friends enjoyed their time here in Victoria. The Inner Harbour is particularly attractive...and the shops in and around Government Street are charming. Happy Birthday!
So good to hear from you and your experience with the knee surgery...Congratulations! Our medical clinic has a physio component as well so we can easily get the treatments post op...feeling very fortunate! Fingers crossed. Enjoy Japan
Wow your husband must be in great shape...my surgeon said I am only able to walk for 10 minutes maximum every hour for the first week or so...and I plan to follow his advice to the letter!
I am already into protein and vegs as my mainstay for meals and calcium is always on my list as I have osteoporosis.
