Hostess Gift Recipe and some random snippets...

 ~ HOSTESS GIFT ~

I've been making these tasty spiced nuts for several years now...
they are quick and delicious and get rave reviews!

I am not sure if I have shared the recipe before?
I buy the big bags of nuts from Costco.

Did I mention how delicious these nuts taste?

These are from a cookbook that our local school put together many years ago.
SO YUMMY
I hope you enjoy them :-))

Am really surprised by the quality of Sonsie Skincare!
My rosacea has calmed and the redness has diminished.
The skin drinks up the serum and moisturizing cream.
Not greasy at all as it is absorbed right into the skin.

Sonsie reached out and sent me an email with a link that offers a discount with the code.

I don't usually do these things but I am over the moon with the products,
so thought it might be fun to share the 15% discount
to those readers who might be interested.

Please let me know if you try the products.

Wore the thrifted Butler bird brooch on my handknit sweater...
it makes quite a bold statement...it is bigger than most of my brooches.

I also wore in on a black boiled wool tunic top with black pants.
Such fun to add a wee bit of vintage BLING :-))

Some of the last garden roses...
the blooms are lovely but the usual fragrance is missing.
They will be sweet smelling again come Spring.

Went to the Church Hall for the Friday Sale...
found a VERY tarnished tea strainer.

(I thought it might even be pewter)

After some silver polish and a few minutes later...
Shiny silver

Surprise!!!

It is
Sterling Silver

The sale was well attended and it was a challenge to move about!

I found some nice ribbon for wrapping gifts.
My ribbon supply has almost been used up.

I love to use gross grain and satin ribbons...
but I don't always want to pay high prices for ribbon.
I do love a Bargain :-))

Revlon's Iced Amethyst 625 lipstick
bought to wear with my thrifted Eileen Fisher Velvet top.

I wore it to a dinner party last weekend.

I am still in shock that I found it in a thrift shop!!

In other news ~ the concussion is still with me.
I have some woozy moments and have a mild headache.

Am doing online balancing exercises to see if I can improve my stability.
Walking with the Urban Poling Poles.

Attending Webinars put on by Vancouver Coastal Health
on osteoarthritis and learning a lot about what I can do to reduce pain
strengthen the muscles that support the hip.

Beautiful Mount Baker in Washington State seen from our coast.

Hi Lesley, I'm sorry to hear that you are still suffering from your concussion, hope it gets better soon. You look so chic in your black and white outfit, right down to the pearl necklace! Have a very Merry Christmas!

Hello Leslie,
Nuts are a great gift and these sound delicious. I have one with other spices, but yours would be good to try.
I love the colour of the velvet top and the matching lipstick on you. Such a great colour - makes you sparkle!
I hope you continue to make progress with your health issues. They are never fun.

I love your blog. It feels like we’re visiting. I recognize that cookbook. I make the lemon loaf and Phil’s muffins. Ian loves the Russian potato soup.
I wanted to ask you about that lipstick. I’m going to go to Pharmasave and get some! Love seeing your thrift finds. It’s my favourite way to shop.

I'm sorry to read you're still feeling a bit woozy from the concussion. Good on you for working on the balance. I'm focusing on it, too. I'm shocked at how dreadful it is when I shut my eyes. Who knew that would make such a difference to standing on one leg? Hello. And that lipstick? The perfect color for you. Love all your thrift finds. I have a similar looking strainer tucked away in a kitchen drawer ... must give it a polish. Yours looks amazing.

Your hostess gift nuts looks delicious, and thank you for sharing this recipe. Only this week I was gifted a small jar of spicy nuts made by a friend. I think she might have your recipe! They are very yummy indeed. I really like your lipstick, in fact I used to buy a similar one years ago. Might look out for the Revlon one. So sorry you are dealing with both concussion and osteoarthritis, and I hope you improve very soon. You are very conscientious about exercise and recovery. I think exercise is the answer to everything as we age! Great shot of Mount Baker. Isn't it gorgeous? Merry Christmas to you and your family.

you will get so much wear from your new quilted vest! I picked one up last year, after seeing so many women wearing them in Spain, and it's my go-to. my arms don't usually get so cold in the winter, but my torso does, and this allows me freedom of movement while driving and doing my daily errands. love the EF top, also!!

That nut recipe looks good! Your dizziness is concerning…Hope it goes away soon. That EF tops a real holiday find. Looks fabulous on you

The recipe for spiced nuts looks good -- will have to try that. I am sorry to hear about your fall. I am on the verge of turning 70 and am fairly active, and have also been doing yoga for the last two years -- what a difference to both my strength and my balance! I've been able to increase the weights I lift and I think that's a combination of persistence and the yoga poses but the huge difference is in my balance, with all the one legged poses. Highly recommend finding a good yoga class for maintaining vitality as we age. And, I love your brooch!

We can stay connected here online...like cyberspace penpals :-)) I found a really cute sparkly reindeer brooch at the thrift shop on Pender! I would be very sad without thrift shops...they really give me a lift!

Kelly I think have turned the corner...feeling much more like my usual self now! If you buy loose tea you'll want that strainer! So much fun making tea a bit more elegant with the shiny silver strainer :-))

You'll love this nut recipe...so quick and easy and the rewards are delicious!!! The osteoarthritis is going to be an ongoing challenge and one that I plan to meet head on! Many ways to manage the pain other than taking medications...educating myself is my first line of defense. Happy Holidays!!!

The quilted vest even fits under my puffer coat for added warmth! I am glad that I bought it...I like the gold accents too...and am wearing my gold hoop earrings with it for added sparkle. Nice to be warm and cozy with no restriction on arm movements!!!

The dizziness has subsided...I am so grateful...not having to hold onto things as I move about! The walking poles are here to stay...they allow me to feel confident, stable and walk faster. Merry Christmas Laura!

Waving back to you!! Do you have a nice yarn shop in Port Townsend? I love to explore yarn shops...loved the Churchmouse Shop on Bainbridge Island. We have the Beehive in Victoria which is wonderful....I am in between knitting projects and am thinking of what I might knit next?
Best wishes for a lovely holiday season.

Rainy today here on Pender but much better than that weekend storm with the power outages!!!
