~ Snow ~
We don't get a lot of snow here in Victoria but when we do...
many things come to a halt.
The Yoga Studio closed,
the rec centre annex Yoga classes were cancelled,
schools were closed.
I have been busy here in The Humble Bungalow keeping the home fires burning.
Vacuuming, dusting, reading, knitting, making soup.
Baking ~ Banana bread and a Sourdough Boule.
Watching the birds outside, sipping tea, thinking deep thoughts.
Silently praying for Peace.
The amaryllis bloomed!
I planted it on Boxing Day.
It is sitting on the shelf above the farmhouse sink where I do the dishes.
The kitchen is my favourite place to work.
I spend many hours at the counters
sharp knives in hand chopping,
slicing, and dicing...
creating meals to feed us.
Last week I went to the mall in search of the "perfect" white Tee shirt.
I don't know why it is so difficult to find one that fits well
looks good, is not see through, and has some style.
I want a decent quality, a smooth washable fabric that doesn't cling.
I've spent ages looking for a white tee in the thrift shops, no Joy.
After trying many tees in shops
most were thin, see through tops, much too clingy.
This is one that I found at The Gap...
it ticked all the boxes I bought 2 of them.
($54.95 each yikes!)
Will be a layering workhorse...
when they go on sale I am going to buy a couple more!
DENIM got me again...
pale blue softness.
Thank you GAP
I know this has become a problem...
Hanging in my closet now are 3 denim style shirts.
The newer fleecy one...
(see previous post)
a thrifted Gap one from 5 or 6 years ago
now a pale one for spring and summer.

Actually, come to think of it...
the pale one will go well with those pale denim Mango jeans I bought.
Think Canadian Tuxedo :-))
Very good book!
I read Dear Edward by Ann Napolitano a while back and really enjoyed her writing.
Several friends have recommended this book so I borrowed it.
Glad that I did.
Replaced my former CC cream with this one from Marcelle.
Canadian Company in Quebec that has been in business since 1949.
The gals at The Oak Bay Pharmasave suggested the opthamologist recommended mascara and eye shadow...
I was asking their advice after two eye infections
which I attributed to my sensitivity to mascara.
Been using this for about 6 months and have had no problems whatsoever!
The lipstick is a sheer red perfect for everyday.
(Loving Red)
My "go to products" for a simple minimal 5 minute make-up routine.
For a woman who is on the cusp of 70
I find that less is more when it comes to make-up.
That about wraps up this snow day...
need to make dinner.

I don't usually post as often so I guess this a "bonus" post.
Many of you have popped by The Humble Bungalow Blog
through the years...many friendships have been forged.
A few of us get together from other areas of the globe.
There are wonderful spin offs to blogging.
Kind of surprising that after all these years
I still feel like writing.
I might be
Am I repeating myself!
Well I'll sign off for now...
What's new with you these days?
Leave me a comment and tell me how you are doing.

Hi, Leslie. Here in Port Townsend, it’s still snowing! Beautiful from my viewpoint of trees, water and mountains. A good baking day for me as well. Loved Hello Beautiful. Since you read Dear Edward, check out the series that was done on Apple TV+. They did a fine job.
We are both in the middle of a snowfall...it's nice and we don't get to enjoy the white dusting often! I don't have Apple TV but might find it streaming elsewhere...hope you have a lovely week and weekend!
Hello Leslie. Summer has finally come to our corner of NZ. February is usually a warm month, it is just a pity up until now summer has been ho hum ! It is always great to read about your happenings. My life is simple and I do enjoy pottering about. My beauty routine is minimal, but I do use NZ products. I do wish we could flick a switch and have world peace .....
Your blog posts are always soothing and in fact acknowledging the quotidian and sharing it is, in fact, quite helpful. Our lives, on the whole (thank goodness) are not filled with major drama but finding the good in every day…and thank you for reminding me about Marcelle..I’m out of CC cream!
I love your hair color, as well as your bob cut. I was wondering if you ever considered growing out your bangs to the same length with a side part? It might look cute with your naturally curly hair?
I'm about to head out to the WIN store for a browse - I think we Victorians are really too sensitive to all this white stuff - this is only a few inches, people!
The never-ending quest for white tees! I turn the armpits so I never want to spend much - I go through one every couple of years.
I've always enjoyed your blog! You remind me of Janet from Gardeners Cottage. Cozy and fun and I love to know what you are reading, watching, cooking, organizing etc. One of the coziest blogs out there! Thanks for sharing your awesome life with us! Jennifer
Hi Leslie, I'm not sure how I came up as anonymous, but it's Colleen from NZ
We've had tons of rain in Northern Ca. And now the Sierras will get lots of snow. I'm also obsessed with denimim shirts and wear them layered over levis mostly. I just ordered some organic T shirts from Quince. Very nice and the quality is also very good. I've been making the sourdough baguettes with rosemary and microplaned lemon meyers. It's a tasty combination.
I'm not sure if my other comment went through. You can never have too many denim shirts. Yours would look great over a summer dress too, it has a great drape. I don't wear makeup on an everyday basis, but when I do, or when I'm going out - blush is my most important item, and I use it on my lips too.
Love this post! Calm beauty, which is much needed. TY.
Your snow looks pretty - here in PA we are in for another sleet/freezing rain storm...with more coming this week. Staying cozy - cleaning, cooking, and baking. Yes, less make up as 70 approached next month - more red lips, eye shadow, but not face make up. Love your white tees !
I would like some snow! We have had so little this winter and right now it's mostly brown out with little piles of snow here and there. We were supposed to get a few inches today, but seems it fizzled out. What I could do without is the extreme cold we often have. Ah, the perfect white tee - what an elusive item, isn't it? I'm glad you found something that does the trick for you. I always use BB cream and am wondering if there's a reason I should consider CC cream instead? Thoughts?
Hello on a cold (but not snowy) day! I'm intrigued by the 'knit' denim... may I ask the brand? Also commiserating about the white t-shirt dilemma; finding a good fitting, not too high neck, and not see-through is a challenge! I find Mark's has good ones, the modern fit are nice, but you have to size up.
I've been using Marcelle products for years; the sheer tint moisturizer is a great product, especially because it has SPF 30.
You are in the war sunny summer season...I often forget! Using local products is very wise, I try to buy and use local products here as well. Peace is needed more than ever...
Take care
I hope you find a CC cream that you like...there are so many choices :-)) Major drama is very stressful! I try to keep to a quiet uneventful routine wherever possible...some might say it is rather dull but on occasion things go sideways and I have no control over that but I do try to keep calm despite these events!
I had that longer side part style for decades...just wanted a change...so had my hairdresser cut the fringe.
Oh I love to shop at WIN :-)) Hope you found some great things. I have to refresh white tees every few years as well...I am hopeful these Gap tees will last at least 2 years.
I miss Janet's posts so much...her blog was my favourite. Thank you for your kind words Jennifer...I often wonder about Janet and how she is getting along.
No idea as to why blogger did not recognize you either!!
I am obsessed with denim too!!! I don't order much online but have heard good things about Quince. That lemon and rosemary combo does sound tasty...hopefully the rain helped with all those fires.
Hi Kathy...I see another similar comment so I authorized this one...I have a distressed pale denim Old Navy jacket too which I have worn with dresses...I add a sparkly vintage pin to add a bit of interest when I mix that combo. I don't wear much makeup on days when I know that I am staying home but the CC cream has sunscreen so I usually wear it as my rosacea is exacerbated by the sun. You have beautiful skin...I think blush is a great product and that wee bit of colour can light up your face.
Calm seems like it is needed more these days...peace and calm seem to be in short supply!
Jeannine, I think that your snow may have just detoured up north...
CC cream offers a bit more coverage, evening out skin tone. I need a sunscreen and Marcelle's BB cream does not have the sunscreen added so I opted for this formulation.
70 next month for me too!! March 3rd...
when is your special day? The CC and BB creams are slightly tinted not heavy at all...I don't like foundations anymore as they settle into my lines and wrinkles!!
Stay Cozy :-))
The knit fleecy fabric with the denim vibe is made by Jane Delaney...it reminds me of the tops that Frank and Eileen sell.I haven't looked at Marks...I should go there and check out their clothes. The top I bought is at Marshalls at Hillside and they had some last week when I was there. Happy Shopping :-))
I find white t-shirts at Costco, although they are v-neck ( my fav!)
I, too, have given up on thrift shop t-shirts - whatever you find is generally near the end of its life or not quite right. Have you tried Marks fitted Ts? That’s my tshirt go-to now. I pick the crew neck. They offer slightly different styles in different seasons: long sleeves or short; v neck or scoop or crew; different colours. My current fave is a long-sleeve charcoal over top of a white short sleeve, both crew neck. The strip of white at the neckline brightens everything!
Hostess, I recently discovered the white tees from Uniqlo. Check them out if you get a chance, but I do like that Gap one you showed.
I have a Costco membership but only go a few times a year!
They usually have good quality clothing...well done!
I have not tired Marks...I haven't been there in awhile...I bought some wide black rayon pants last spring. I like the layered look tops that you are wearing and the colours are two of my favourites!!
I don't shop online much at all...we do not have a Uniqlo here in Victoria...so I am out of the loop!! I'll have to be satisfied with the Gap tees...
