Our lovely neighbours next door dropped off a bouquet of flowers,
to welcome us back from our holiday at the cottage.
Chester seems to be drawn to the flowers!
He is in fine form...
full of snuggles and enjoying his cat toys.
He was cared for by our wonderful cat and house sitter Tina.
XO
He tried to sleep in our bed when we got back...
it did not go well, I hardly slept a wink that first night!
He kept waking me up licking my face and "kneading" my hair!
He must have missed me?
So he's snoozing outside the door on the rug at night which seems fine...
he must be missing Pepper as they used to sleep very close together.
Often on the same small fuzzy cat blanket.
Thank you for all your kind messages and condolences
on the passing of our beloved Pepper.
The Hollyhocks are still in bloom.
Some of the roses have had another flush of flowers.
The garden is a riot of hydrangea blooms too...
am going to try and pick some to dry for inside the Humble Bungalow.
I am on the hunt for "alum" which is supposed to help the blooms stay fresh.
I've had a few days at home to get back into the swing of things here...
the sourdough starter has been refreshed and a boule was baked this morning.
I've made a batch of fresh pasta and we plan to make a lemon and prawn sauce
with grated parmigiana reggiano.
The recipe is simple...
September is here and the weather is already cooler...
such a quick change.
I'll be back in the Yoga Studio this week, I've missed my sessions.
and
I have an appointment to get my hair cut which always perks me up!
What have you got planned for your week?
Thank you for popping by The Humble Bungalow Blog.

I wish I could pair down my makeup collection to one as curated as yours. I’m something of a makeup obsessive with way too many selections. Currently, I’m enjoying a company called Honeybee Gardens. Its natural makeup line is lovely and affordable. But I’m using much less than I once did and questioning the necessity of using it at all.
ReplyDeleteI love to hear about other’s cosmetic choices, especially from ladies over 50. Would love to hear about your skincare choices.
I am really drawn to organic simple products without harsh chemicals....I have rosacea...I am currently using Pamela Anderson"s Sonise skincare which is lovely...I may be making a change due to the current 25% tariff situation in the US and Canada...I may be buying Eminence products once my Sonsie serum runs out...I LOVE the products but I am on a budget...it is a very sad thing but I don't have unlimited funds.
DeleteIt really is miserable for all of us. I used to love Kettlewell clothing from Britain, but the tariffs have made it impossible. There are wonderful products I rely on from Canada also. I guess all we can do and hope that things change. Thank you for the product suggestion.
DeleteYour pasta recipe sounds delicious!
ReplyDeleteDinner was amazing!! The lemony prawn sauce is perfect with the pasta!
DeleteWe are welcoming Spring in our corner of the world. My beauty care is very simple. I have a gym lunch gathering this week, and have a girlfriend returning from a 4 month UK/European tour, so I can see us enjoying a wine as we catch up soon.
ReplyDeleteFRIENDS ARE THE BEST! Have Fun!!
DeleteYes the garden is at a funny time..we definitely got a second flush of roses but the dahlias were not happy this year. Enjoy your skin care info
ReplyDeleteOh that's disappointing about the Dahlias...ours performed well and I want to grow more next year. Hope you have a fun week!
DeleteHappy September, Leslie. I'm delighted to see you're carrying on blogging. The pasta dish sounds absolutely heavenly. Thank you for including the recipe. I'm off to have coffee with a pal this morning and you've inspired me to fit in a bit of exercise before. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI want to hear more about your holiday!! I met a friend for an iced tea in the Village yesterday and got in over 6700 steps which for me with my dodgy hip is quite remarkable!
DeleteI'm down to just one lipstick these days. Very minimal!
ReplyDeleteOh that is minimal...I guess my 3 is a maximum amount :-((
DeleteI have got way too much makeup considering that I rarely wear it but I am paring down. I have a gorgeous red lipstick from Guerlain, a more neutral dark one from Merit that is an everyday colour. My mascara is also from Merit and seems to be the only one that doesn’t make my eyes water. A lip pencil and brow pencil fill out the necessities.
ReplyDeleteOh I remember when you bought that luxe Guerlain lipstick!! I have seen loads of Merit ads online and have been tempted...Marcelle is a Canadian brand which is readily available here in Victoria...in fact I just splurged on a creamy GLOW product from their product line for the face today when I was out and about...
DeleteI am enjoying the Marcelle line of makeup too. This is my last week before I go to France so I’m doing last minute preparations.
ReplyDeleteOh good to hear...it's French Canadian...and hooray for you flying off to Paris !!! I know you will be savouring every moment !!
DeleteI like Marcelle items as well
DeleteJust took a picture of the shrimp and angel hair pasta recipe. I'm going to gather ingredients tomorrow and give it a try. This dish sounds light and delicious. You have inspired me to pare down my makeup bag. A good challenge, and easier to pack, pick up and go. I'll be scouring the thrift stores this week for white milk glass bud vases for my daughter's upcoming wedding in October. Since she decided to use them in her table centerpieces, we've found seven.
ReplyDeleteOh I saw a bunch of white milk glass pieces this week...hope you are finding as many as you need for the wedding!! Let me know if you enjoyed the recipe...have fun thrifting :-))
DeleteI have a very minimal makeup bag like yours. I use mostly Westman Atelier. I use the cream blush as both a blush and lipstick. I wear brown Ilia mascara and that's about it. Oh and sunblock of course.
ReplyDeleteThe tariffs are horrible and one of the many things we in the U.S. have to worry about.
I am not sure that the tariffs are good for any of us...I love to support small shops on Etsy and Ebay but the extra 25% makes me think twice...hope this resolves itself soon. We should be able to co-exist in harmony like we have done for many many decades...I haven't heard of Westman Atelier...it sounds tres chic!
DeleteI haven't worn mascara for several years as I can't see well enough to put it on. Disappointing, but since I wear glasses it's not as much of a noticeable thing as if I didn't. I really like Physician's Formula BB cream. I recently tried a well known brand tinted sunscreen which was recommended on a blog I follow - I'm not liking it and am trying to decide if I should just cut my losses and dump it or carry on using something I really am not liking. For one thing, it smells strange to me and for two, it's rather heavy feeling. At this age I need to use a cream (I like a stick) blush. I would be interested to know if you have dahlia recommendations - for shorter varieties that would be perfect for a pot. I never cared for dahlias before and then suddenly I started liking them and would like to try a pot of them.
ReplyDeleteI think anything that smells funny might be out of date? Hope you didn't invest too much on the product. Oh we grow a variety of dahlias and I don't pay attention to the names...I just buy what looks pretty. We have good luck with them in larger pots and also a vintage wheel barrow...they are star performers. Have fun shopping at the garden centre!!!
