"Snow~ mageddon!
The Humble Bungalow Garden
is covered in snow!
Looks like a Winter wonderland.
Iced tea anyone?
That's my husbands' car under that blanket of white!
Our red chairs look quite comfy with their thick white cushions.
I've been spending most of these snow days indoors.
Knitting, reading, sipping tea, and making hot soups and curries.
The front steps are swept clear of snow
the sidewalk gets shovelled...
we have been keeping the fire in our fireplace going
as it really takes the chill off.
Our single paned windows let in so much cold air...
sitting next to a window one can feel a chilly draught!
My husband has been busy.
He's kept up with the supply of kindling and wood.
Walking back and forth to and from his office downtown.
Many of the staff are unable to get into town to work.
Schools, UVIC, Camosun College and the Naval base at Esquimalt are all closed.
Buses are delayed or not running...
roads are icy and covered with snow
its pretty to look at but is proving difficult "getting around."
It is still snowing
we are expected to get another 5 inches today...
more predicted for the rest of the week and into the next one.
Stay safe and cozy.

It does look so pretty but that is from someone who has never seen snow let alone live with it. I hope you and yours stay safe and warm.
ReplyDeleteI was born on a snowy day!
DeleteWe don't usually get much snow, this is quite an exception for this time of year!
I handed out awards at work today to the few intrepid souls who made it into the office (they all live close to town). I am ready for winter to be over!
ReplyDeleteI hope your kitties are warm, L - mine is very clingy right now, as he doesn't like the cold, the weird light or the lack of sound from the snow.
Our cats have been sleeping a lot and they prefer to be snoozing in our living room close to the fireplace! I cannot believe that we are still in this deep freeze!
DeleteMore awards might be necessary!!
Winter wonderland! As you say it looks beautiful but it is also crippling. Your bungalow sounds lovely with a fire ablaze. Warm soups also make for a cozy feeling. I, too, look forward to Spring and the gardening season. Susan
ReplyDeleteThinking of spring...cannot wait for this freezing weather to be over!
DeleteI've enjoyed 2 unexpected days at home due to snow. My husband has made it in to work with his Tahoe, picking up co-workers along the way. It won't last long and it's very beautiful, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteWe were surprised that there were 3 days of school closures...safety is important and the roads have been really nasty. Hope it melts soon!
DeleteWe had another winter storm today. We knew it was coming, so I brought work home as I have tons I can do from home. We began the winter with so little snow that we almost thought it was going to be a no snow winter. The last couple weeks we've certainly made up for it!
ReplyDeleteThere is a lot of white weather...we heard that Las Vegas and Maui had snow too!
DeleteLet's hope that the temperatures warm up...our poor little hummingbird sits on a branch right next to the feeder and he looks so cold!
We live just north of Mt Vernon, Burlington and 15 miles south of Bellingham, pretty close as the crow flies! It has turned to rain and melting quickly. Been feeding the birds and going through Sun flower seeds like crazy. Are you going to the flower show in Seattle, we're going with friends that thursday. Well stay cozy and fun to see all the photos, thanks for sharing them.
ReplyDeleteI am not planning on going to the flower show...it sounds like a fun event.
DeleteOur roads are looking bare in spots but there is still a lot of snow on the sides and ice overnight...more snow is predicted today!
WE HAVE RAIN RIGHT BELOW YOU!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteTONS OF RAIN!
XX
My sister who is in Palm Springs right now says that there is flooding!
DeleteHope you are safe.
Isn't it funny how we "West Coasters" react to snow? It does make getting around difficult - and if we're fortunate, it does offer an opportunity to slow down and admire nature.
ReplyDeleteWe are not used to much snow...and the municipal services cannot keep up with clearing the roads...so we walk or try to take the buses if they are running, or stay home and make soup!
DeleteIt's so pretty and I've gone out each day. The roads are clear but the sidewalk crossings are slushy. We've only got single panes too and a 50 year-old hot water boiler. Cardigans and socks are good. Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteI have been dresssing in layers too! Still feeling chilly with 2 cashmere sweaters and socks on!!! I have been out trying to get a walk in but it has not been easy...navigating the snow drifts and ice all the while concerned that I may fall.
DeleteIt would be nice if the snow starts to melt...
How beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIt is pretty...so quiet and one does not hear much traffic...just birdsong and the sounds of chilfren playing!
DeleteI too noticed how very quiet it was....
DeleteYour garden looks beautiful and your home very cozy-time to enjoy home and reading
ReplyDeleteI didn't comment on your last post but chicken/hen or beef bone broth is traditional soup for sunday lunch here, with noodles
Stay warm!
Dottoressa
Your Sunday lunches sound lovely...I must try adding some noodles next time I make a broth. Still cold here today...have a good book and am trying to keep warm....I sound like a wimp but I prefer to be warm over the chiil of the icy freeze!
DeleteOh, my... It has been an adventure, hasn't it? I caught the bus to work and back (an adventure in itself)and while downtown sidewalks were shoveled, the snow plow heaped snow knee deep over the sidewalks in my own neighbourhood. My neighbour lent me a pair of ice cleats to attach to my boots. They proved so useful! Loved your photos. There is something very cozy about your beautiful little bungalow, and snow-covered garden. Violet.
ReplyDeleteAw yes indeed! We are so spoiled by our usual mild weather...I saw many people wearing those ice picks on their boots! So helpful for the icy walks.
DeleteThank goodness it is melting now and the sun is shining! Hope you are enjoying the weekend.
