Inspired by Janet at The Gardener's Cottage

Janet writes the beautiful blog The Gardener's Cottage from Redlands California.
I've been an avid reader and follower for many years and every time I see her new post pop up I get excited! I know that I am in for a treat!

There are many reasons that her blog is a favourite of mine...
from the charming cottage that she and her husband Larry have lovingly restored, to her exquisitely curated furnishings and home decor,
the tasty recipes,
her beautiful garden and oasis of calm,
and of course her refined and honest personal style...
Janet's is a "must read blog" in my humble opinion!

Janet has recently redesigned her blog...
and she has been posting more frequently which thrills me no end!

Janet posted about an outfit that we probably already own here..
I do own jeans...but did not have the shirt.

It's been on my radar ever since I read this post and I must admit that I have been obsessing about finding the right shirt...

I discovered after trying on several styles that I need an extra large size.
The buttons and snaps were gaping at the chest and everywhere else
the shirts would fit, so finding "The One" proved to be a challenge...
but I do love a challenge!!

Yesterday I found a shirt that fits and flatters.
It's by Ralph Lauren and in a Petite size
and it was on sale!

It has pearl snap details.

Which made me think of my bubble gum pearl necklace.

Pearls and denim
perfect paired
with my skinny NYDJ jeans.

A new look for this Hostess thanks to Janet at The Gardener's Cottage.

How's your week going?

Thank you for stopping by The Humble Bungalow Blog.

    1. I love Janet's blog and her voice has been a strong one over the years...it's such fun following and making connections.
The denim shirt is actually quite cozy too so it will be great layered with a cashmere sweater or a vest...I think it will get worn a lot!

  2. I love the versatility of this outfit, the addition of jewelry and a pretty flat makes it just right for a casual night. A scarf and boots are great for shopping, errancy and home. I collect denim/chambray shirts and buy a new one every year, giving away the seldom used one. I presently have about 6 with colors ranging from a very pale blue chambray (RL) to a dark denim color (Talbots). These and dark denim or black leggings are my favorite outfit.
I agree with your description of Janet's blog, I look forward to it and love her use of blue in decorating, as you can imagine blue is my favorite color.

    1. You have a lot of experience with these shirts and with blue your favourite colour you must have fun collecting them!
I had a denim shirt years ago but it is long gone and I never replaced it.

  3. How is it possible that you didn't have a shirt like that? I have (had) TWO, from different decades, with slightly different lengths. Classic is classic, and I kept hold of them...until my teenager laid eyes on them recently and they were gone. Proof that they are on trend!

    1. I did have one years and years ago...it is long gone.
You were clever to have the insight to keep them!

  4. I love the double denim look, and I intend to 'steal' your pearl necklace accessorizing idea. Here in the U.S., the total denim outfit is sometimes called a "Canadian tuxedo." I'm Canadian born and bred but have lived in the U.S. for almost 40 years, so I don't know if Canadians would take offense at the expression. I hope not, because I like to think that Canadians still excel at self-deprecating humor, which is generally not so characteristic of Americans.

    1. The challenge with blouses and shirts is not to have them gape at the bust....I think this was remedied by buying the bigger size.
