The Royals are coming to visit Victoria.
Yes indeed, they will be staying at Government House just a quick 15 minute walk from our Humble Bungalow...
It is exciting and I hope that we might catch a glimpse of the young family...
Justin Trudeau will be in town too...the city is all a flutter.
OOTD...
Hermes scarf
Betty Barclay striped top
White NYDJ
Black Sam Edelman ballet flats
Leather moto jacket
vintage Italian leather bag
red lipstick Maybelline #547
(purchased at Monoprix Paris in the 6th eme)
Being a bit of a rebel I broke the rule about wearing white after Labour Day...
Coincidentally my friend B, who recently returned from Paris, was wearing white pants and a striped top as well!
We had lots of catching up and our Paris trip highlights were shared.
This week I treated myself to a relaxing facial at The Silk Road Spa
its been quite awhile since my last Spa visit and I really enjoyed the pampering.
I wandered around China Town exploring the wee shops
the sunshine and hot tea were just what I craved...
Hooray It is apple harvest time!
we have been enjoying a few of our crisp and crunchy apples...
Liberty and Chehalis are both relatively young dwarf trees in The Humble Bungalow Garden.
I unwrapped a Diptyque candle,
our Fall and Winter favourite fragrance
ready to light and enjoy on these cooler evenings.
A good book, a candle...
life's little luxuries.
I wonder if we are in for a cold winter as the rose hips are huge and plentiful...
does anyone make rose hip jelly anymore?
Black and white make up the bulk of my wardrobe...
I never seem to tire of the combination.
Grey also plays a role in my small closet.
I must be off and get some things done around here...
Thank you for stopping by The Humble Bungalow.
If I get close enough to see the Royals I will snap a few pictures and share them with you.

How exciting about the visit!
ReplyDeleteI love the monochrome theme of your outfit and the hand bag especially.
SSG xxx
Thank you SSG...the handbag was found by my darling daughter, the incredibly talented "thing finder" on Instagram!
DeleteHow exciting! I don't believe in the Labor Day rule either. White is wonderful in all seasons. Congratulations on the apple harvest! I love rose hip jelly. Mainly for the color. I've made rose hip and lavender jelly that's pretty good. It was better when swirled into ice cream though.
ReplyDeleteIn France people swirl a tablespoon or so into plain yogurt...I love doing that with homemade jam!
DeleteI will cross my fingers for a Royals sighting, as I think you have a touch of the monarchy about you! Love the sound of your whole outfit.
ReplyDeleteI am not sure that I have the touch of monarchy in me...I lead a very pedestrian lifestyle!
Deletebut I have tried to attend most of the Royal visits throughout the years...the one that stands out in my mind is of Lady Diana as she was driven by on Rockland Avenue in a limo...she looked right at us and smiled.
Love your outfit - you look fabulous! I just had my hair cut shorter than I've worn it in years so I love your new haircut too.
ReplyDeleteHope you get to see the Royals - and get some photos!
The cut is so easy to work with but I am at the salon every 5 weeks for a trim...so it is not as economical as my other style...but I am enjoying the speed and ease getting ready in the mornings.
DeleteWe were noting how ironic it was that the Cambridge family were visiting British Columbia while we were in London. Today, we have tickets for the State Rooms at Buckingham Palace. Your shorter hair really suits you. Hope that you get to see the Royals.
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoyed seeing Buckingham Palace...your accommodation looks very elegant!
DeleteHow exciting, and Catherine is coming to my hometown too on 11 October. Her first solo trip abroad! Love your outfit!
ReplyDeleteI hope that George and Charlotte have fun while they are visiting too...apparently a sand box was added to the grounds of Government House for the toddlers to enjoy...it sounds like the family will be kept pretty busy while they are here.
DeleteI love your combination of stripes with your Hermes. It looks striking. How exciting to see the elegant Trudeaus and the lovely Royal Family. I am an unabashed royalty lover. And I am so glad you wore white after Labor Day. I have white jeans that were much too heavy to wear this warm summer. I am thinking of the jeans with my new cranberry sweater. Thanks for the inspiration and enjoy the royals.
ReplyDeleteI have been looking online at white jeans for winter and they seem to be a very popular classic now...
DeleteI hope that Hello magazine does a spread on the Victoria visit and the BC tour of the Royals...will watch the news and coverage of their arrivals and all the highlights.
Love your outfit choices. We in Prince George are disappointed that the Royals will not be visiting our town.
ReplyDeleteDo you know where I can purchase Emma Bridgewater mugs in Vancouver or Victoria or even Edmonton? I am starting a collection.
You can buy some of the EB patterns at Knightsbridge shop on Fort Street here in Victoria and The Bungalow in Oak Bay on Estevan Avenue carry her Black Toast tin ware trays and biscuits tins....good luck finding what you want.
DeleteIf you manage to snap a few photos of the royals, and our handsome PM, please let us see on your blog! I don't think I will be able to make it. And you will be close enough to avoid the parking nightmare that I am certain it will be. Violet.
ReplyDeleteGosh I don't think I will be able to get close enough...I use my IPhone and my model does not have a telephoto lens...the new one that just came out has one!
DeleteI would not even think of driving to any of the venues...it would be total gridlock!
If I decide to go I will be on foot.
Loving your outfit. Very stylish. Stripes are my go to tops as well.
ReplyDeleteI like stripes much better than an overall pattern...they feel fresh and crisp and a wee bit French!
DeleteOh I do hope you get to see them; what excitement for your city. And I love Winter White fashion !
ReplyDeleteIt is a busy weekend here for Victoria as well as all the Royal excitement there will be 3 cruise ships in town! Hooray for winter whites!
DeleteI'm absolutely besotted with the Royal family. Would you please say hello from me. Adn aren't you the dickens wearing white. What a rebel you are. :)
ReplyDeleteI know...whites after Labour Day...what a risk taker I have become!!
DeleteI HOPE YOU CATCH A SIGHTING!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteARE THEY BRINGING GEORGE.................they MUST BE and CHARLOTTE TOO!
HOW EXCITING!!!!!!
The children are coming too and they are adorable! There has been a sandbox installed at Government House and there will be a family tea party where invited military families will join the Royals...I hope the weather is decent so they can all run around on the lawns!
DeleteLove that scarf with that top. Looks very nice on you.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeannine...this one gets the most wear out of al my Hermes scarves and I think it is because of the colours...they go with most of my wardrobe.
DeleteYou have such an elegant style ! It's always a pleasure to see your OOTD.... Keeping my fingers crossed that you get a glimpse of the Royal couple - how exciting ! And with your handsome Prime Minister too !
ReplyDeleteThere was a news item last night on the tv about how similar both Kate and Sophie are with their wardrobes...it will be fun to see what they wear.
DeleteI always enjoy visiting your blog!
ReplyDeleteThank you Susan...I appreciate your comments!
DeleteI hope you'll be able to see them :-)
ReplyDeletePlease,keep us informed!
I love black and white combination,it suits you very nice
I'm wearing recently white jeans, black velvet sweatshirt and silver Nike sneakers :-)
Dottoressa
Love the sound of your silver sneakers!
DeleteYou look absolutely beautiful!
ReplyDeleteMy goodness! I don't know how to respond...thank you.
DeleteYou look lovely in your monochrome colours, they make the red lipstick stand out all the more. I am a navy/white person, myself but am gradually introducing black and white, too.
ReplyDeletePlease can you explain to this Englishwoman what all this "no white after Labor day" means (we'd say 'Labour', of course). I've heard it said, but I've no idea what it means.
Love your Hermes scarf! And the bag is wonderful!
Margaret P
There was an old rule that women all respected...after Labour Day in September that there was to be no white worn...shoes, dresses, pants or skirts...but these days anything goes!
DeleteYou're wearing you're school teacher look ... hmmmm and just where is your homework????.. LOL. Even if I didn't have my homework done, you look loveky.
