Staying close to home has brought new meaning in wearing "the uniform."
It needs to be comfortable, neat and tidy...
easy to wear and fast to assemble.
OOTD
It's simply me
the retired version
(I have a few months left to work before it's official)
I am practising for my future role!
Gap boyfriend jeans
white tank from H and M
grey cashmere from Lands End
Olsen belt
red Nine West ballet flats
Hermes scarf
I plan to invest in a few more cashmere cardigans when they go on sale
and I have oodles of scarves to pair with them.
It's my new comfort zone.
Not too sloppy...
but let's keep things simple.
Life is too short to spend everyday standing in front of the closet searching for clothes to put on.
I love the quick pick speedy way of dressing.
How about you?
Do you have a basic uniform?
I hope that your week is off to a great start.
I think that you new 'uniform' is spiffy..very fashionable although casual. I think you are really going to enjoy your retirement.
ReplyDeleteI just read the post on Chester...what a scare, my worst feat is that Miss Twiggley will get out and get lost or hurt. I am so glad that you found him safely,he must have been very happy to get back home!
He was rather frightened at first but he is up to his usual antics and being rather naughty!
DeleteI tried on those jeans and looked awful in them, you look wonderful. Yes, my gym clothes are my uniform, I just love being comfy and being able to move freely.
ReplyDeleteGosh Tabitha you look so great in everything I see you wearing...I'm surprised you did not like them on.
DeleteWe are Gap BF jean twins, Hostess! That is my uniform. BF jeans, a sloucy tee or sweater, and flats. These days, I also must bring along a light jacket because the weather is so unpredictable.
ReplyDeleteYou look great in your casual uniform! I like the way you tied your scarf.
Adrienne I'll take that as a huge compliment!
DeleteI wear a tee and jeans most days, also. I don't tuck it in or wear a belt. I am hoping to wear flip flops most days starting now! I wear very few accessories. I have a brown or black short leather jacket to wear if it is cooler. Or I have sweaters to layer for cooler days.
ReplyDeleteLast summer I wore a skirt instead of jeans sometimes or a summer dress. If it gets really hot I sometimes wear shorts.
So today: dark wash skinny jeans, navy flip flops, black tee, coral boyfriend sweater, little silver necklace and black wayfarers if we are lucky with the sun today.
Oh flip flops? Lucky you...we need our wellingtons today!
DeleteLove your new uniform, especially the scarf, so very French! No, I wish I did have one. It would make getting dressed each day so much easier!
ReplyDeleteYou probably have a uniform of sorts you maybe just do not see it yet...
Deletefor me it's what I keep reaching for and re buying in multiples.
I like the jeans, flats and v-neck look with either a scarf or a necklace for retirement dressing. I wear my brown leather jacket or a sweater coat over this when needed. I often wear a t-shirt under my sweater so I just have to change the shirt. I can walk with friends or go out for lunch with mother and look presentable in this uniform.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you've discovered your uniform too...
DeleteYour new uniform suits you well and a beautiful Hermes scarf like yours will elevate the simplest of outfits. My home uniform is similar. There is nothing more cozy than a cashmere sweater with my worn, Gap boyfriend jeans. I also have a collection of blazers (my weakness) to wear year long with jeans for going out casually and running errands. I'll throw on a scarf, a bracelet and go. My summer uniform: J Crew Cafe Capris, a tee shirt and a cotton or linen button down shirt worn open over it to protect me from the sun.
ReplyDeleteThat linen shirt as a jacket is one I am stealing for summer when it arrives...now I just need to find a great version...any suggestions?
DeleteI SURE do! Either jeans or a black skirt with a V-neck Tee. Often I wear a denim jacket or a black jacket, sometimes a scarf; usually a belt...
ReplyDeleteYou're SO right. It eliminates time spent wondering what to wear. And you look fabulous. Your haircut is particular great, in my opinion.
Thank you Rebecca...
Deletethe short cut is allowing me to grow in the grey and stop overall colouring...
Cashmere home wear + Hermes scarves! Wow! You are placing me in the hall of shame; )!
ReplyDeleteI never wear my cashmere at home.
My outfit is the same every single day, when inside the house.
Old ( but ok ) jeans, old ( long-sleeved T´s, good quality, no brand, same model ), no makeup ( only nail polish on my toe nails ), only wearing studs, Wolford tights 8 months/ year and hair usually ( = always ) tied into a messy bun.
My working outfit:
Riding pants ( bought in 1992, inherited from daughter M ), 3/4 length Henri Lloyd down parka ( over 6 years old ), 17 years old fleece scarf, the Wolford tights, the long-sleeved T and my winter Aigle rubber boots. LOL.
Mette you have a working equestrian farm so cashmere would not be the best choice!
DeleteI remove my cashmere if I am cleaning or cooking and put on an apron.
Your working outfit sounds like your uniform...
and I love the look of a messy bun!
Isn't it wonderful to have a uniform? I love yours; casual and comfortable yet pulled-together.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great look! Polished and comfortable at once. . . That scarf makes all the difference, imho.
ReplyDeleteThat is one sharp-looking uniform, hostess, and you look terrific. Uniform dressing makes life less complicated, and sets the stage for the fun pieces, be they scarves, jewelry, or shoes. I think you will ease effortlessly into retirement mode in this, and feel comfortable while still pulled-together. As for cashmere? I vote for more cardigans like this for you than the waterfall ones. They are quite flattering on you.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on both impending retirement and your outfit! It happens to be close to my uni as well, except for v-necks, best in chilly Montréal. You look wonderful.
ReplyDeleteYes, last christmas I bought a few cashmere sweaters at $39.99 each! Your uniform is similar to mine except for the fact that i believe you have more umph in the way of accessorizing. i have yet to conquer the talent of accessorizing, so I basically only wear a watch and my wedding band. You look fantastic, elegant and confident.
ReplyDeleteVery similar uniform. Jeans (denim or black), tee shirt, some sort of sweater (right now) and short boots or loafers. All tees and sweaters are neutrals so I don't even have to think much about what goes with what.
ReplyDeleteYou look great and have upped it all with your gorgeous scarf. The weather has been unpredictable in California right now particularly, and I always have a light coat with me, like Adrienne as the temps can drop 20-30 degrees quite suddenly. You must be so looking forward to your retirement, especially with the new baby on the way.
I am with you hostess. I wear jeans, and flats and have a selection of tops and cardigans. I update with a couple of new selections every year, and this week bought a new necklace and two winter scarves in new seasons colours to mix with the neutrals.
ReplyDeleteJulie Q
You look one very swish lady, that is my favourite look for day wear here in the 'sticks' when the weather is warm.....always chinos (in place of jeans) skinny for knee boot wear, straight leg whenever, all brown/beige colours....looking like the 'Dunlop' man at the mo. HB's tie holding the pants up,long sleeved tee/jumper + thick cashmere cardigan over the top it is still bitterly cold here, socks and to top off that a warm, scruffy pair of ugg slippers, does that not sound elegant huh!!
ReplyDeleteHave a good day.Judith
It's even sexy! Hooray! And my GAP jeans are among my favorites, hope you like yours.
ReplyDeleteHostess, it is so cold! I have to wear ballets flats with socks! So much for my flip flop dreams. It is April in Paris weather here.
ReplyDeleteCharcoal tee, stone cardy, black trench for my OOTD. :)
your outfit is a bit similar to mine! i go basics and simple but try and jazz it up with a scarf as well - i love the one you are wearing - Dmitri who I think is the designer of that scarf is one of my favourites.
ReplyDeleteSending your BFF positive energy by the way.
Wonderful, classic uniform (similar to my cool-weather one). Thanks for sharing with Visible Monday and enjoy your week ahead.
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting this event Patti I will try to participate more often. I love seeing what the other ladies have chosen to wear!
ReplyDeleteI wish I didn't, but pondering comes with the territory of dressing for the day, I'm afraid. I do grab and go, but am often sorry.
ReplyDeleteLovely scarf ... really dresses up jeans and a sweater. Some very nice pieces to wear around the house. Congratulations on impending retirement!
